(2002-10-10) — A Scottish woman is suing the North Glasgow NHS Trust hospital for discrimination because she didn’t get the traditional welcome package for newborns, including a diaper bag, knit cap, Similac samples, baby pictures and coupons for diapers and other baby supplies.
“It’s discrimination,” said Nicola McManus, 27, a mother of four who aborted her most recent child. “They gave me the baby in a jar, but none of the other nice things most mothers get.”
A hospital official said, “When you have some useless tissue removed, you don’t normally get a nice container to take it home in. She’s lucky to get the jar. She should stop complaining.”
