Zogby Poll to Decide Yankees-Red Sox Series

by Scott Ott · No Comments

(2004-10-19) — The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox today agreed to let the American League Championship Series be settled by a poll of likely ballgame attenders, according to a statement from Major League Baseball (MLB).

Although the Yankees had been leading three games to two, the outcome of the series is now in the hands of 800 randomly-selected Americans who will be telephoned today by the Zogby polling organization.

“We noticed the excitement that polling has brought to the political process,” said an unnamed MLB spokesman. “It’s like you get to play the game over and over every day, without anything actually happening. The truth is that what people think about their favorite team is more important than what happens on the field of play.”

The Zogby poll margin of error is plus or minus four games.
