(2004-09-30) — John Forbes Kerry tonight acknowledged that he rushed into the debate against President George Bush without “a plan to win the peace.”
The startling admission came after Mr. Kerry repeatedly accused Mr. Bush of invading Iraq without a plan to win the peace.
“I confess that I’m bogged down in a quagmire in my battle against George W. Bush,” said Mr. Kerry, who is also a U.S. Senator. “I should have formulated a plan to win Mr. Bush’s heart and mind.”
The President, however, refused to use “the Q-word” to describe their conflict.
“I have a plan to win the peace,” said Mr. Bush. “I call it victory.”
