Shrinking Ozone Hole Threatens Environmental Organizations
(2002-09-30) — Environmentalists now warn that the shrinking ozone hole could prevent greenhouse gasses from escaping earth’s atmosphere. They blamed the diminished size of the hole on the failure of the United States to endorse the Kyoto treaty.
“The collapse of the ozone hole is a major threat to life as we know it,” said a spokesman for a coalition of environmental organizations. “Al Gore warned us years ago that the hole would get bigger, and…well…it is changing size. So, he was kind of right. The point is, no matter which way it goes, we must raise money to keep our offices fully staffed. If we don’t, then who will write and mail all the fundraising letters?”
