Rep. Bonior to Host ABC’s ‘Salute to Neville Chamberlain’
(2002-09-29) — Rep. David Bonior, D-Mich., will headline a star-studded cast from Washington and Hollywood as ABC broadcasts “A Salute to Neville Chamberlain” in early October.
The two-hour special will include Bonior’s dramatic reading of Chamberlain’s famous “Peace in Our Time” speech before Parliament in 1938.
Bonior will shoot his segments on location in Baghdad, where he is currently being equipped by Iraqi officials to serve in his role as the Iraqi ambassador to the U.S..
Others slated to appear on the show include Barbra Streisand, Alec Baldwin, Sen. Tom Daschle and former vice president Al Gore. The extravaganza will feature a special presentation of the Sudetenland Trophy by former president Bill Clinton. The name of the recipient won’t be announced until the live broadcast, but insiders give the nod to Saddam Hussein.
