(2003-06-26) -- Today's U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning a Texas ban on homosexual sodomy threatens to put thousands of police officers out of work.
The 6-3 decision effectively makes obsolete the hundreds of local sodomy law enforcement battalions nationwide. Police forces now have no use for the officers formerly employed to kick down doors where homosexuals were violating the law. The ruling will also put thousands of judges on part-time status as the docket is cleared of the numerous sodomy law cases.
In related news, John Lawrence and Tyrone Garner, the plaintiffs in the Supreme Court case, said they're glad sodomy is legal now, because they have missed engaging in it since their arrest in 1998.
