First (and feeling rather dirty about it, considering the subject). Posted by: Carolinian at June 26, 2003 12:14 PMI thought since they were arrested they would be getting more than enough of that particular activity in prison. Posted by: rainmaker at June 26, 2003 01:16 PMLet's see . . . if I get the tone of Scott's satire here, it's: --OK to leave bad -- indeed, unconstitutional -- laws on the books as long as they're currently rarely enforced, because heaven knows there will never come a time when a political opportunist will try to take advantage of the existence of that law; and thus, --It's also better to make lawbreakers out of adult human beings engaging in consensual activity that harms nobody, rather than just repeal the stupid law. Got it. If that's how Scott wants conservativism represented, more power to him. Posted by: Phil at June 26, 2003 01:31 PMAs I said in another string, I think the Supreme Court decision was correct, though I don't know if I reached that decision the same way as Kennedy b/c I haven't read the decision. So if Scott's satire is critical of that decision, which it probably is given his next post, then we disagree. But, Scott's satire is right on in this respect- the government should get rid of stupid laws, even if constitutional, that it doesn't intend to ever enforce at all, or when enforced, it is basically at the whim of the cop who was looking for anything to do. Sodomy is but one example. In fairness, Scott's satire could actually be read as pro- the S.Ct. decision: why is Texas fighting so hard to save a law it doesn't really believe in, rarely enforces and is, well, stupid. Posted by: KJ at June 26, 2003 02:43 PMOr: It's bad to let the Supreme Court decide which laws states should be allowed to have, because that represents an imbalance of power between state rights and federal governance. Or something. Posted by: Jon at June 26, 2003 02:45 PMGreat post Scott, hardly a day goes by that we don't read about homosexuals being dragged from their bedrooms, into the streets, and arrested. Thank the Goddess, they won't be able to do that anymore. P.S. I've always had a thing for Sandra Day O'Connor! Posted by: Eve, From The 'Gay' Ghetto at June 26, 2003 08:51 PMThe sodomy decision really makes me angry. I did not intend to have things this way. Posted by: GOD at June 27, 2003 08:26 AMBans on homosexual sodomy in 2003!!!!!!! Just as well you repeat over and over again that USA is a democracy, because you know, reading things like that is difficult to believe it. Well chris, did you know that when Thurman filibustered the Civil Rights Bill, he did it as a member of the DIMOCRATIC party? It was the GOP that sided with LBJ to pass the Civil Rights Bill in 1964, or it would NOT have passed, as the DIMS were against racial equality! Why are you hiding chrisf1221@attbi.com? Posted by: chris at June 27, 2003 09:51 AMI am simply overjoyed! Posted by: Robert at June 27, 2003 10:03 AMChris, get your [butt] out of here and move into DU (Democratic Underground or Depleted Uranium, they both cause health problems if overused). Either that, or take a long walk off a short pier. Posted by: Ken Stein at June 27, 2003 02:14 PMIf G_D didn't intend G_Y people to do gross stuff with their, well you know, their things he wouldn't have given G_Y people b_ _ g holes. Now that we know what they like to do, do they still think they should be allowed to go on camping trips with our little boys? Posted by: Ann Landers at June 28, 2003 01:58 AMAs long as all the boys bring along big, sharp knives (and know how to use them properly), it's fine with me. ;) Posted by: Ken Stein at June 28, 2003 08:23 PMAs far as their non-sick disgusting fetish behavior goes, a majority of pedophiles consider themselves to be heterosexual. However... I'm all in favor of castration as a punishment for pedophilia. With no anesthetic, and a cautery to stop the bleeding. The beauty of freedom. You have the freedom to put body parts into strange and unusual places of people who don't mind. And other people have the freedom to send their kids camping and not invite you along. Sounds fair and consistent. Posted by: KJ at June 30, 2003 04:10 PMIf the Supreme Court Stands behind the Gay Rights Movement in America, does that make them Bi-Partisan? Posted by: Mr. Blackwell at July 1, 2003 03:29 AMActually, the bi crowd gets put down by straight and gay people alike. Posted by: some random guy at July 1, 2003 10:03 AMI guess this really puts the kybosh on Cheap Trick's "Ream Police" Tour. Posted by: Big Time Sublime at July 1, 2003 02:52 PMIts a shame really because the bi-crowd is really the consumer I wanted for my chain of UNI-SEX clothing stores. But now that I think about it, a consumer who can't make up their minds is a looky-loo.Anybody want to buy 10,000 baby pink and blue striped poochie scarfs? Posted by: Mr. Blackwell at July 1, 2003 09:45 PMNaah. Go and give 'em to the French. They've been needing those. Posted by: Ken Stein at July 8, 2003 04:27 PM |
