Blix Fails to Mention Iraqi Drone, Death Star

(2003-03-08) -- Chief United Nations weapons inspector Hans Blix came under fire today from the U.S. and her allies after failing to mention Iraq's possession of a working remote-controlled drone aircraft, and a space-based 'death star'.

The drone, with a proven range of up to 500 km, far exceeds the 150 km U.N.-imposed limit and could be used to spray or drop chemical or biological weapons on troops in the region or cities in neighboring nations.

The death star is an orbital platform for a high-intensity laser beam capable of "busting a planet open like a walnut," according a recently declassified inspection document.

Mr. Blix said he wasn't trying to conceal anything from the Security Council, his team just had not yet tested the capabilities of the two weapons.

"We're going to request that the Iraqis fire the laser at the moon as a test," said Mr. Blix. "We'll document our findings, and include them in the next report to the Security Council."

Hans Blix has learned of our plans to invade France. The troop build up is just a distraction. While the French and UN are watching Iraq we are going to invade France with a troop of marauding Boy Scouts armed with Wham-O slingshots. It's scheduled to take place during the next full, or (snipers moon). Without the moon, no invasion.

Way to go Scrappler....!

Silly people!

Blix is suuposed to determine whether there was a "smoking gun" not a Death Star!

He looked at it and said "Nope, not a smoking gun."

So he didn't have to report on it.

Posted by: Mikey at March 8, 2003 01:09 PM

Guns don't smoke until they're fired.

So... any guesses on how much Blixie is being paid to "bury" discoveries like the drone?

Or maybe it was just an honest mistake and he simply thinks that they're part of an RC plane club's inventory?

He seemed a lot more intelligent when he was playing down the discovery of banned weapons, glossing over Iraq's "recycling missiles" and generally coming off as a bumbling but likeable uncle whom everyone secretly suspects of being a child molester.

I hope when we liberate Iraq that we find out he was just extremely incompetent.

We'll see.

I wonder why Hans Blix is so careful to not disclose any of these kind of facts.. maybe he thinks it would like.. ummm... cause a war or something... if the rest of the world found out what Saddam Hussain was really up to.

QUESTION:
What are the chances of SH not ever using any of this deadly stuff... if we would all just leave him alone.

Update: Hans Blix responded today to charges that he buried evidence of Iraq drones by saying "Well they were French made drones using German, Begium, Chinese and Russian manufactured parts so I didn't think they could possible fly." He continued "If some country supply parts for weapons that don't I don't think really work, its that technicalily a UN violation? I think not." xxxDevelopingxxx

How could anyone possibly be more opportunistic and loathsome than the French? Leave it to the Democrats ...

(I usually just bleep over any article involving Democrats, but this one really highlights their sickening partisan awfulness as 300,000 Americans prepare to head into harm's way ...)

Can anyone help me out here?

With the formulation of the EU, that means there is no or will be no France, no Germany etc.

So why are we depending on some Kraut named Blix for our information let alone security.

Oh yeah, sure, we all are One.

The World Net Daily article on this says that "the omission raised serious questions about Dr. Blix's objectivity."

How is that? I didn't think there was any question. It was obvious from the beginning that he was working with the agenda of harming the United States.

Posted by: Opeth at March 8, 2003 07:53 PM

Blix isn't a sour Kraut, he's a Swedish meatball ...

DrudgeReport sez:

BLAIR GETS GAS-PROOF ARMOURED JAGUAR

Britain's Tony Blair is to get a new armour-plated Jaguar custom-built to protect him from ambush by Al Qaeda terrorists using poison gas, rockets or high explosives...

Bush needs to keep up, he should order an SUV along the same lines. Just for fun, when lefties complain about fuel mileage, he can say it runs on whale oil.

(High-ranking Democrats will be given bulletproof skateboards.)

Oh well, it's just a drone. I mean, what can it do? Oh, it can be outfitted with chemical weapons and used against troops stationed in Kuwait? I'm sure if it was serious enough to merit concern, Blix would have mentioned it. He is just the greatest. The reason I'm also not concerned about the DeathStar is the guy who did Luke Skywalker is still alive and is an American.

Posted by: ZigZag at March 9, 2003 01:34 AM

Who provided the drone? The united states of course. if not them then certainly one of the united nation security council members.
Each member nation of the security council makes decisions in order to make some profit of their own.
This can be justified by the fact that, of the 23 international wars that have taken place after the formation of the United Nations(after the WW2 in 1948) only 3 were justified: including the recent war in Afghanistan(for which i still believe not much justification was provided anyway). It is noteworthy to point out that almost all the wars actively involved member nations.
Most technology is made behind closed doors. Even Nuclear technology is a thing of the past.
Now that the conflict is arising amongst them. it is probably because Iraq wont buy French and German missiles and ammunitions.
But u wud never know anyway, maybe the reasons are reach farther than this.

Posted by: Ashar at March 9, 2003 12:57 PM

Hans Blix reported that we have no real cause for concern. The drone was last seen in the air over Baghdad mating with a French Mirage.
"It is expected that it will now go off and die" he said,"at least this is the latest information the Iraqi's have disclosed."

It does make one wonder however... just what spare parts were being smuggled in.

News Weekly

(04/08/03) -- Death Star, says Blix, won't be a problem. "They promised to recycle it," Blix told reporters earlier today, "and i don't see any reason why Hussein shouldn't be trusted."

More at the half hour.

I think in a private meeting with Saddam, Blix was told, what would happen to him and his inspectors, should he give a bad report to the U.N.! Just my opinion, but who is to say it didn't happen?

Posted by: Susan Serin-Done at March 9, 2003 07:11 PM

Seriously Susan,

There was a (radio)news blurb about some General who was poisioned when he went to dinner with Saddam, recently. And it included an aside about how careful the inspector team is about only eating and drinking their own food etc. You know that they are scared! But we will only know for sure after it is over and they can speak freely... or they don't get out in time.

Like I said before... Hans Blix is Saddam's best human shield, and they both know it.

Posted by: Phrog Poet at March 10, 2003 04:31 AM

Blix and el Baharadai are supposed to report only. They are supposed to present a list of facts and leave opinions and conclusions to the security council. They are not supposed to editorialize. The United States and the UK should place them both under oath on a witness stand and force them to answer questions with simple "yes" or "no" responses. They are mucking up the debate by putting in their two cents (which is just about what their opinions are worth).
PS I love the way Bush is forcing the French, Germans, Russians and Chinese to go on record. They all thought they'd get away with only threats of veto.

Posted by: AHA at March 10, 2003 01:05 PM

You guys are going to get me in trouble by laughing so hard at work!
Blix is for kids, that was a good one rick!
Oh and the best one was by Ashar, man you have a very good satirical edge, for a minute I thought you were being serious....LOL

WOW! Thanks for the link Keith! Why don't we just post these quotes all over the net? Ha! Better yet, GWB should get his media people busy and rerun footage and sound bites of these gems hourly! After all they are factual comments of actual statements made. Geez, after awhile it might register to the public that Tom Dismal and the other turncoats are really "gung ho" for the invasion of Iraq!! Well they were, weren't they? You think Clinton might have been sharing some of his Tang with them back then?

ashar -

you're almost as funny as Scott. You had me going there for a little bit but that obvious error on the end date of WW2 tipped me off! Keep up the good satire, you really do sound like one of those idiotarians!

Let's have Blix and el Baradai give their reports to Judge Judy! Talk about a "no-spin zone".
I can hear her now....

"LIIAAAAR! I don't believe you and by, the way, case dismissed!"

Posted by: AHA at March 12, 2003 04:59 PM

Not only would she yell case dismissed she would follow our pal logic penalty box's example and say: 2 minutes for instigating, 5 minute major and a 10 minute game misconduct!

Posted by: Justin at March 12, 2003 05:46 PM

Forget Blix! Forget El Baradai!

I say JUDGE JUDY for Chief UN Inspector! Let Saddam try and tangle with HER.

[chant] Judy!...Judy!...Judy!...Judy!...........
