Pelosi to 'Spit Out' Communion Wafer in Protest

(2004-04-29) -- Despite a Vatican prohibition against serving Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi today announced that she would not only receive communion, but would spit it out in protest.

"It is my choice what I do with my body," said Rep. Pelosi. "If I want to keep the communion wafer in my mouth, I can. If I wish to chew it up and spit it out, that's my choice as well."

Meanwhile, Mrs. Pelosi said she believes she has the votes in the House needed to overturn the Vatican ruling.
