Coalition Hires British Paper to Dig for Evidence

(2003-04-27) -- The U.S. and British military intelligence services, overworked and understaffed, have contracted with British newspapers to dig through Iraqi government buildings in search of a link between al Qaeda and the regime of Saddam Hussein.

A reporter for The Telegraph, Inigo Gilmore (possibly a code name), has been given free reign, and a small stipend, to snoop through the Mukhabarat, Iraq's intelligence service. There the deputized reporter-spy found the first damning evidence of a direct connection between the former Iraqi regime and associates of Usama bin Laden.

The folder, containing whited-out references to Mr. bin Laden, was found lying in the rubble in one of the rooms of the bombed out Mukhabarat. Crime scene reporters from The Telegraph carefully removed the dried residue of Liquid Paper to reveal the sensational evidence.

Meanwhile The Sunday Times, carrying out its freelance espionage in the Iraqi Foreign Ministry building, discovered that France was giving regular reports to Baghdad on its dealings with the U.S..

"We could have sent our own agents in there," said U.S. Director of Central Intelligence George Tenet, "but we're so busy this time of year. Anyway, the Brit reporters are naturally curious and we always find out quickly what they've learned since they publish it in the paper and on the web. We're hoping to get a first-hand look at those latest documents pretty soon."

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said that U.S. troops at first thought the reporters in government buildings were looters, and "we almost shot the little varmints." But when the journalists showed their "Temporary Deputy Agent" cards, they were allowed to carry on their intelligence investigations.

Well, I bet you all were reading that and thinking "what would Bambi Stiokes-Hymington think of this? Well , I'll tell you.
1. "White out" was a racist term and that's why it's called "correction fluid" now. I'm glad you knew that.
2. It's toxic. It is bad for the environment. I think it's banned under the Kyoto Accords.
3. The Kyoto Accords are not Honda cars, they are the first law Bill Terwilliger will sign when you elect him President. It is important and why a lot of countries hate us. Look it up.
4. My father, before he "went away" always tol me "Bambi, you can only believe half of what you read and none of what you see" or something to that effect. So when I read, I remove every other word and that leaves something believable. Here is the first paragraph in the story the way I can believe it:

(2003-04-27) -- The and military services, and, have with newspapers dig Iraqi buildings search a between Qaeda the of Hussein.

Thank you. Also, I am a man.

"Perhaps aware of the sensitivities of the subject matter, Iraqi agents at some point clumsily attempted to mask out all references to bin Laden, using white correcting fluid. The dried fluid was removed to reveal the clearly legible name three times in the documents." The Telegraph

Perhaps unaware of the existence of paper shredders, and ignorant of the power of fire (a western invention unknown in the Fertile Crescent), and lacking the box cutters needed to cut out bin Laden's name from the documents (the entire strategic stockpile of box cutters having been expended in 2001) those crafty Iraqis took their method from Poe's "The Purloined Letter" - leave the document out in the open, on top of a table somehow unaffected by the conflagration. Man they're good.

Hi Kieth

"Makes sense to me. If there's one thing British tabloids know inside and out, it's digging up scandals"

The newspaper is the Telegraph which is the UK equivalent of the WSJ. It is not a Tabloid but it is good at digging up scandals that matter.

Old British Joke-

Times readers run the country.
Telegraph readers want to run the country.
Sun readers don't care who runs the country as long as she's got big tits.

As the truth about france's overt aiding of Saddam Hussein's muderous regime is exposed, I wonder what the spokesliars like chiraq and my buddy french fry are going to attack in yet another pathetic attempt to divert attention from the real subject of how despicable france has become.

These recent treacherous actions are merely a mirror of the actions taken by the bootlicking vichy french turncoats during WWII.

Makes you wonder who else chiraq is on his knees for? North Korea? China? Iran?

It looks like france is givng germany and russia a run for their money for the title of most despised european country of all time. It's a shame to see a once mighty republic turn into such a pretentious piece of cow flop.

I am truly sorry for the poor french who have any perception at all of the truth. The actions of their double-dealing government and officials is going to cost them dearly as well.

Remember to Boycott france!
Fresh reasons daily as more records of french treachery are uncovered in Iraq!

You do know I was kidding about the "once mighty republic" thing, right?

Posted by: Okie Dokie at April 27, 2003 04:24 PM

Well, I knew there was a desire to privatize a lot of government functions and at first I was upset that the were contracted to the British media, The Daily Telegraph and The London Times, instead of a U.S. outfit. However, any U.S. firm that you could trust was just to small to cover the job.
I'm looking forward to the next contractor. The U.S. State Department could certainly use some help.

OSAMA BIN LADEN,
IN HIS OWN WORDS, AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY POST HISTORY

{Wise guy satire comments and interruptions by me..go with me on this one}

Audiotape February 11, 2003,
Subject pending war in Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom

We follow with great attention and a lot of scrutiny, the preparations that the crusaders are doing to occupy the capital of Islam...
{Crusaders.. Osama, no such thing defined in history as an American crusader, and what's with the occupy capital of Islam.... Mecca ? Osama stay on point... We are talking about Iraq and Saddam..}

We remind you that victory comes only from God Almighty. God Almighty said, if you support God, he will support you and make you victorious
{I guess you missed a few daily prayers Osama, looks like America has 100% of Gods support big time }

American forces did not dare to go into our posts in Afghanistan. What sign is more than that for their coward ness and their fear in their claimed stories about their power?
{What ?? don't you get cable in your cave Osama.. is that a reference to troops on the ground? Osama...what war are you talking about ?... sorry..Osama.. No more interruptions go on..}

God doesn't approve of the oppressors.
{Like Saddam Hussein, and you oh sorry Osama didn't mean to interrupt you ..go on}

Muslims that they have to move and instigate the nation in these serious times and hard circumstances so that they would move and get rid of the oppressive and infidel regimes that are in power,
{Like Saddam,The Baath Party,The Talibon, sorry Osama my bad...go on}

It "America" depends on intensive air bombing and, that is to hide its (Americas) biggest weakness point which is fear, coward ness, and the lack of the fighting spirit within the American soldiers.
{Were you on the planet earth for the last 3 years Osama?..what are you talking about? Guess you missed the ground war last week...}

Now, I am going to tell you a part of that great battle so that I prove to you how coward they are on one hand, and how good are the trenches in the draining (American assets) them, on the other hand
{ What great battle? you and who Osama? You ran away,Afghanistan you lost in 3 months, trenches draining? hey didn't you say you were going to fight with Saddam?}

We fought back against all their attacks by the grace of God. And we defeated them every time. They were carrying their injured and their dead.
{Osama you lost every battle every encounter every piece of land, not in one but two conflicts all your Al-Qaedas ran away or surrender or were KIA,}

But, armies get defeated by letting them down. God said,
{Wrong Osama,Sun Tzu said that,and he was not a prophet,}

Video Tape December 13, 2001
Bin Laden and a group talking about 9-11 attack. Bin Laden starts reciting a martyrs poem

I witness that against the sharp blade They always faced difficulties and stood together...
{America and England..sorry Osama go on do your poem}

When the darkness comes upon us We are bit by a Sharp tooth, I say...Our homes are flooded with blood and the tyrant Who Is freely wandering in our homes"...
{Yeah Saddam The Baath Party and his two tyrant kids Uday and Quasi}

And from the battlefield vanished The brightness of swords and the horses...
And over weeping sounds now We hear the beats of drums and rhythmÖ
{Of America.....sorry go on Osama}

They are storming his forts And shouting: "We will not stop our raids
{Until Saddam is removed from power ..oh don't be a baby Osama finish your poem}

Until you free our lands...
{Until (you) free our lands, Osama did you ever stop and think, who the " you " was in that last line...it does not say " we" as in " you" being " we" it says " you " meaning someone other than "you" like say uhm.. America....God... get it together Osama }

Osama Bin Laden
October 7,2001 audio tape

A million innocent children are dying (In Iraq ) at this time as we speak,
{Let me guess because of America and because of the UN Security Council Sanctions..oh yeah Osama... America controls The Security Council, the United Nations is the great evil puppet of America and Israel ..right Osama How about this, who controlled the money from the Oil for Food program ..did you ever think of that Osama how had control hmm oh yeah Mr.Annon, France, Russia and Saddam, by the time the money got to Iraq Saddams thugs had stolen what little was left You idiot, and by the way what about the children in Kuwait you never said a word about them, for is it not the reason why Iraq was sanctioned, oh its OK for Saddam to destroy all of Kuwaits national income...}

We hear no denunciation,(from America) we hear no edict from the hereditary rulers.
{Can you hear America now Osama}

Posted by: jp at April 27, 2003 05:02 PM

We keep hearing these hints about other people being bought off in these revealing papers, particularily some in the US as government types or reporters. One would think right off that a "government type" might be Baghdad Bonior or some other congressman, but then the English press would jump hard and fast to condemn a US congressman even before an English MP. So it leads me to think that the US person(s) mentioned might be a bit more powerful that a mere congressman. Might it be one of a higher office? Perhaps one who "blew" a chance to capture Osama? Just thinking out loud... Don't mind me.

Posted by: PATRICE at April 28, 2003 04:48 AM

PATRICE:

I think I found a mistake in your article. I think it should have said:

"The right-wing daily quoted a letter from the Iraqi secret service dated March 28 saying that "one of our sources" had met the deputy spokesman for the French foreign ministry "with whom he had just had relations."...

Posted by: Cassandra at April 28, 2003 02:29 PM

Actually, I think this is a great strategy. Half the world won't believe what the U.S. government says and, by extension, what the British government says, and will be skeptical of the U.S. press, so let the British press find the stuff and print it first and then the gov't can just confirm it or not.

Either that or the British press has alot more connections in the intelligence services than the U.S. press.

Claims amoung other things France briefed Iraq on war

2.The report also gave a detailed account of American attitudes towards Saddam amid anxiety in Iraq that the country might soon become a target of US reprisals.

3.The conservative British weekly said the information kept Saddam abreast of every development in US planning and may have helped him to prepare for war.

6.The Sunday Times reported, quoting files it had found in the wreckage of the Iraqi foreign ministry.

Has anyone else on this site heard about Dennis Kucinich's proposed Kumbaya Act? He and 46 other Democrat House Members (boy is "member" the proper designation for these guys) are proposing a cabinet level position, Secretary of Peace. I know that this sounds like I made it up, but I didn't. It's for real!

They want a Secretary of Peace and an entire bureaucracy to maintain peace both in this country and abroad. The secretary would be in charge of making sure that we had no more violent demonstrations and that we never committed any more violent acts (like war) in any other country.

When I read the news story, I thought that Scott had somehow sneaked his way into the mainstream press establishment and was pulling a fast one on them. You guys have got to check this out!

Posted by: Joseph at April 30, 2003 10:57 AM

...Secretary of Peace...why does this sound so familiar? Oh -- I remember now! This is just a reprise of an old Clinton program called the Secretaries for Piece Program.

This daring initiative (funded with your federal tax dollars) was designed to ensure a dependable supply of nubile young Interns, Secretaries, and other Grope-able Females to fill necessary White House functions. The program was initially lauded by Democrats and White House staffers alike. Inexplicably, it was suddenly dropped just before the Clinton impeachment hearings...
