Sesame Street to Add Saddam Muppet

(2003-03-23) -- The Children's Television Workshop (CTW), producers of Sesame Street, announced today that the show will soon feature a muppet called Saddami. The new muppet will be used to educate children about tolerating diversity in human behavior.

The idea came to Sesame Street writers while watching a video of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein recorded after the so-called 'decapitation attack.'

"We saw Mr. Hussein on the video and he looked so life-like," said an unnamed writer. "His puffy round head, funny glasses, French beret and broom-like mustache just shouted out 'Muppet!'. Combined with the way he turned the pages on that steno pad, you could almost see the little rods controlling his arm movements."

In the first episode of the new season, Saddami will attack Ernie, Bert and Grover, turning them into "a pile of crumbled foam and rags". At first Big Bird will threaten to peck him to death. But the show's human cast members will persuade the residents of Sesame Street to leave Saddami alone, because "it takes all kinds of behavior to make up the circle of life, and we shouldn't punish Saddami just because his morals are different."

Now I understand why all this growing anti-American sentiment CBS reported this morning is growing in Iraq. The war is almost a week old already and the rural people of Iraq don't have a Big Mac in one hand,a Pepsi in the other, and a Big Screen TV to watch thier new Saddami star on the Street, and wont get see the Shock and Awe !

Where is all this "humanitrain aid" we promised.?? Are we going to let these people down again like we did in the "other" gulf war. (The one about Kuwait) You would think the Army Engineers could build a few 7-11's along the way to Baghdad... US is all talk and no show... you know?

It's going to be "much more difficult" than they thought. People are actually shooting back at us... duh ! Who wrote the dumb "story board" for this stupid war anyway? We dropped pamplets telling them exaclty what to do ACT FRENCH ... but some of them aren't getting it. go figure?

I'm sure the 'Saddami' is a doll that stands for a religon of peace. Peace at all costs, because it will come at the expense of Bert and Ernie.

Plus next year, Sesame Street will introduce Sadami's wife, 'Barbie-arian'

ooooh yah... grim... horrifying to think about it.

Bert goes into the shredder head first and Ernie feet first... I can't bear to watch. And they were so clever...tragic beyond description.

So the humans on the show are dimocrats or french?

I still think Chirac would make a good Muppet! Maybe they could even add another Muppet, (that someone on another thread here talked about), "Shah Kinaw", (sorry I don't remember who came up with that one, it's one of the best I have seen here)! The Shah Muppet could be Saddami's arch enemy, and Froggy Chiraq, could be like the "Pig Pen" Muppet, who everyone is trying to urge to take a bath!

Had to come back to give credit to: ConfusedinVA!
'Shah Kinaw', I laugh everytime I think of this!

And Grover living in the Garbage can... Saddami could offer his family a big wad of cash if he blows himself up trying to take out Big Bird.

What is this you peasants are discussing my glorious father's, may georgebush ever fear his mustache, own state-run childrens program? Is this stolen on your American porno cable? Also they are having Ooglay puppet, because I want one when I was child!

Are you sure this isn't real news? Annan has already made a cameo in "Seasame street".

Saddami's new best friend could be that AIDS muppet from S. Africa.

Posted by: Justin at March 24, 2003 12:04 PM

How will we know it's the real Saddami?

Posted by: Tracy Adams at March 24, 2003 12:07 PM

Maybe the Sesame Street characters can pass a rule that Saddami has to stop picking on other characters. If he doesn't, then they can threaten to pass another rule. This will teach children that breaking the rules has bad consequences, like being asked to follow more rules.

... and by The Count Chiraq and the numbers 1 ...2.... "Don't make me say 3... Saddami or me and my un-Friends will have to 'threaten' you. Again." (but we can negotiate a deal maybe when the others aren't looking)

this is not too far from what one would expect on PBS. Its basically what is being taught in our schools now.

Posted by: wizegoi at March 25, 2003 02:21 AM

It is already known that some of the Muppets support terrorists...

A Saddam muppet tolerance thing. GAG, GAG, GAG.
America's PUBLIC TV brainwashing our kids to think the man who cuts people's tongues out and lets them bleed to death is a tolerable human being. - Perhaps we have gone off the deep end.
Maybe our children should watch this while they are sitting in their big comfy chair in the living room and suffering from the smallpox that Saddam would gladly inflict on them. - Perhaps we ARE fighting the wrong war. Let's just gas all the liberals and have it over with!
