Mandela To Celebrate 1,075th Birthday in July

(2003-01-30) -- Former South African President Nelson Mandela said today he looks forward to celebrating his 1,075th birthday this coming July 21st.

The Nobel Peace Laureate earlier today accused U.S. President George Bush of wanting to attack Iraq to control its oil, which he said constitutes 64 percent of global production. But he soon forgot his anger as he contemplated birthday plans.

Mr. Mandela said he may mark the start of his 1,076th year with a party in Baghdad, Iraq, which he said is "a city of 3.5 billion peace-loving free people."

"I'm looking forward to the party," said Mr. Mandela. "It should be more fun than when I won the Nobel Prize for mathematics 287 years ago, in 1993.

"They do not care. Is it because the secretary-general of the United Nations is now a black man?" --Mandela

This is what it always goes back to in the end isn't it? When does it stop, or does the madness never end? We the "White" countries of America and Britain are now not only going to attack Iraq, we are going to do it solely based on the fact that their is a black figure head in the United Nations. This has to be the lamest damn thing I have ever heard. It seems to me that "Whitey" is to blame for anything and everything now. If it has fault, it is the white man. Too bad, so sad come again another day with you lame excuses ManateeDella. I am sick and tired of catching the blame for everything that doesn't go the way the "black man" wants it to. Granted, everyone deserves equal treatment....so in that end I guess it is time we blame the blacks for everything that we see wrong. We could replace Mandela and attack anyhow, this would be going against our own global racism though. Notice how one short stached figure tried to commit genocide on a certain people at one time in history yet, America and Britain the "Global White Men" have yet to attempt genocide on blacks. Something is wrong here, I thought we did everything to the Mandelas of the world. Seems to me, once upon a time we got black men from who......please don't say whitey! We can blame the black people for this as the tribes a long time ago sold them to white Europeans. Before the finger pointing starts look at how you arrived at you opinion ManateeD!

Mandela is a man of the highest integrity. If you dear Americans are disagree with him - simply because he doesn't suck up to everything you say - that I am afraid is a poor reflection on you and not on that great man.

If only a person such as Mandela ruled the world instead of Cowboys!

Mandela great! Give me a break, he's a pissant who is remarking on the only thing he can think of. Yeah, let's make this a black/white issue, totally rediculous! Oh and let's look at what's happening where he lives--blacks killing whites so I guess that is your idea of a great ruler.

Mandela was a great man.

I think there is an interesting parallel to Ronald Reagan here.

Both made huge contributions to their countries, and the world, in the last quarter of the 20th century. Fortunately for Reagan, he had someone to look after him when he started to lose it and was no longer fit to be a public figure.

Under the watchful eye of his wife, Reaganís dignity, and his legacy, will be preserved.

Unfortunately for Mandela, and the millions of people who look up to him worldwide, Ö.well we all know the story of his wife.

It is typical for the left. As soon as they don't like your argument, they immediately slander you. If they call you 'racist' or 'sexist', then they don't have to address your actual argument, because now they've levelled accusations that would only be proveable if they could read minds.

I thought Mandela was better than that. His sad, knee-jerk comments have diminshed his greatness.

Note to the left: Someone disagreeing with you politically does NOT automatically brand them a racist/sexist/homophobic/nazi. Stop race-baiting and try debating rationally.

Mandela is a joke. For the life of me i cannot understand why some still cling to his every word as if it were gospel. What a myopic bunch.

I curse you. Just reading of Mandela Salsa has given me heartburn. Oh when will this culinary terrorism end? Leave my poor esophagus alone. Don't get me started on Saddams Pork Rinds. OOWWWWWWWW, my rectum is bleeding. STOP IT!

Nelson Mandela looks fabulous for a man who spent 273 years in prison at notorious Robbins Island, and then served 72 years as South Africa's state president. To think that after 380 years married to Winnie Mandela, he didn't kill her in that time, is a true testament to his greatness. Honestly, one can understand his concerns: although we lost over 25,000 people on 9-11, the fact is, we can expect tens of thousands more casualties in an attack on Iraq, and a campaign which will probably last decades. Now, if only Israel would give back those territories it acquired back in the 72 day war...

An anonymous poster typed:"If only a person such as Mandela ruled the world instead of Cowboys!" Apparently the poster missed the news, the Tampa Bay Bucs rule the world, not the Cowboys. Although, with a little luck, new head coach Bill Parcells will return the fabled Dallas franchise to its former greatness and they will rule the world once again.

What he said is indefensible. So why try?

Unless of course any attack on US policy is considered sacrosanct no matter how absurd.

Once again we witness the reasoned voice of the anti-war and in this case pro-Saddam movement.

Stunning is it not?

Mandela accused Bush or wanting to cause a "holocaust." His word, not mine.

I.e., he accused Bush of wanting to commit atrocities. Atrocities sort of like binding up a pregnant woman, placing a tire around her neck, filling it with gasoline, and lighting it, and the woman, on fire.

Yeah, those kinds of atrocities.

Looking at Ken's post, I now regret referring to Mandela as "a great man" today on my blog. I know about Winnie's burning-tire "necklaces," but I guess I gave Nelson the benefit of the doubt, and that was probably stupid. If your wife's goons are running around burning people and she brags about it in public, you pretty well have to know about it.

But if it helps, I called Mandela a bonehead several times.

Dave Huffcutt got it right in his posting. This is a once great man who needs protection from his own failing mental processes. I don't have the heart to gang up on him.

This is a once great man who needs protection from his own failing mental processes.

At least Reagan had the decency to disappear when that happened to him. If only we could wish the same from Mandela, Gorbachev, Carter, and someday, Clinton.

Posted by: Raoul Ortega at January 31, 2003 06:00 PM

Someday Clinton? Someday? How about starting January 2001?

Scott was so funny on this one that I cannot even think of a good rejoinder. This dude is seriously witty and incisive. I think I will start an all-male fan club call the Scott Ott-o-Mans! (At least Turkey has the guts to do what France and Germany won't do.)

John Lemon

Posted by: John Lemon at January 31, 2003 06:42 PM

The Log Cabin Republicans welcomed John Lemon as their newest member today. A spokesman for the homosexual Republican organization enthusiastically said, "We were very happy when Mr. Lemon announced his interest in a men's club."

Mr. Lemon was reported to be exuberant during his private initiation ceremony. Afterwards, he explained, "I'm thrilled to be included with these fine fellows. I know I'll find several who share my interests and who will help me get over my painful experience of unrequited love at Scrappleface.com."

A spokesman for NAMBLA commented, "Well, if he ever gets bored with those stiff old Republicans, we'll keep a spot warm in our club for Mr. Lemon."

Scott Ott, the original object of Mr. Lemon's desires, expressed relief. He stated, "Geeez, I put up this little web site hoping for some donations and then, bam!, I've got poofters forming a fan club. I'm only thankful they aren't German or French. That would be really gross."

So Mandela has finally come full-circle - finally made the journey, like Sharpton, Jackson and Farakhan, from semi-respectable Civil Rights advocate to full-fledged black racist. How sad.

I find it depressing anytime someone hates me simply because my skin happens to be white.

If this is the kind of venom Mandella spews, perhaps the white former administration of South Africa wasn't evil to the core after all - maybe they just went too far.

down with the cowboys & all cowgrl fans!!

Mandela: If your brain is still working, ask youself, "has there every been an immigration line to get into Iraq or what type of foreign aid program does Saddam have? That's your answer to which side you should be on.

Posted by: GJ Lampwick at February 2, 2003 12:49 AM

Hey No Name!

Keep it down there little buddy.
Cowgirls can be quite charming at times.

My man Nelson, is there someone you trust who can check that "new medication" for you?

Bless his heart, he's gettin' pretty old folks and sometimes isn't the sharpest pencil in the bunch.

When you see what Mandela has become, kind of makes you wonder what MLK's views would TRULY be, if he was still alive! So as NOT to be labeled a racist, looking at Ted Kennedy, makes you wonder what JFK and RFK's views would be today!
