(2003-05-20) — Former New York Times reporter Jayson Blair admitted today, for the first time, that he’s not really black.
“I thought the African-American schtick would make my story more compelling,” Mr. Blair wrote in an email interview. “It’s a fascinating subplot to my nuanced heroic journey.”
Mr. Blair said he’s actually an orthodox Jew from “one of those central European countries…you know, in the diaspergum, as my people call it.”
