(2003-05-08) — Pelted with questions about a thriving dog and cat fur trade in European countries, EU spokesman Cruella de Villepin denied the allegations.
Mrs. de Villepin, whose own love of Dalmatians is legendary, said that citizens of countries like France and Belgium are too “intellectually advanced” to engage in puppy and kitty farming for fur.
In related news, a unnamed spokesman for Disneyland Resort Paris announced a new ride at the theme park. The ‘101 Dalmatians Maison de Terreur’ is expected to draw long lines this summer.
“The timing for this couldn’t be better,” said the Disney spokesman. “We were kind of playing a hunch with this ride, based on Europeans’ love for fur from house pets. The new attraction is rated ‘R’ for violence, although no animals are harmed in the operation of this thrill ride.”
