As voters in Massachusetts go to the polls today to decide who will complete the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy’s unexpired term, President Obama declared that “anything less than a 20-point win by Scott Brown represents a resounding endorsement of my entire domestic and foreign policy agenda.”
“If Brown ends up with less than 60 percent, there’s gonna be a lot of sullen Republicans, moping around, hanging their heads,” said the president to a crowd of supporters that greeted him upon his return from stumping for Democrat Martha Coakley. “Such a thin margin against such a historically weak opponent would be tantamount to a crushing loss for Scott, and would signal a clear rejection of the GOP platform in general.

Sunday I predicted a 20 point win by Brown. I don't know much about nothin' I'm just a milkman in Wyoming. But I do know that through the Tea parties, marches, and with phone calls we have made known our opinions particularly when it comes to this health scare idea. And what has the response from Obama/Reid/Pelosi been? They have looked out at we the people and flipped us off! That's why Scott Brown is going to take Massachusetts today. The people of this country will be heard! That is why the fears of conservative talk show hosts were unfounded, the people were not about to sit at home thinking this is "in the bag" for us. No! we want to make our voices heard, and we will. The next step should be another march on the Capitol, or in towns all across the land as soon as they try to spin this message and take up health scare again. We cannot afford to let them forget what we are saying by electing a Republican Senator out of Massachusetts.

Does anyone here take the slightest pause when the news says that because Brown got elected the insurance company stocks went way up? My heart is not wormed by the prospect of the insurance companies making more money because of this.
Granted, the health plan as it stands now (started strong/became laughable along the way) is not much good but, if the insurance companies are rejoicing over it's possible defeat then…maybe it wasn't so bad. I don't know how you folks fair with your insurer but mine has traditionally ducked every bill it could until cornered…and cornering them is a waste of my time, not what i pay for

As for the stock in insurance companies going up? Great, I've invested in 2. I figure it's the only way I can get any real return from all the premimums paid through the years. Over the last 10 years my investment has paid for itself. I don't want the government taking care of my family and me. At retirement I'll use Social Security for gas money. Boberin, this is still a capitalist society and maybe you should take advantage of all it offers, it's not too late.

I'm way too invested and have learned that the best way to turn $50,000 into $25,000 is in the market…as has almost every other human in this country that bought into the "401K" myth and what my folks called "retirement"…seems such a charming concept, I'm sorry I'll miss it.
And, at the rate insurance companies already collect from me/my company it isn't "insurance", it's pre-paid healthcare.
And, if the care providers would accept from me what the "insurance" people pay…I wouldn't need "insurance" I could easily pay them and have money left over…
And the Dems started to work on that but got sidetracked…badly sidetracked so that I am NOT in favor of what they have now.
A "public option" on the other hand would have been sweet. It would only have served to keep "insurance" companies in line. If that could happen we'd all be able to retire…

Sound advice on the financial advisor. One who knows how to protect your principal is a good way to start. The guys that always tell you you could be doing better or we can get you the higher return…there a dime a dozen out there. They will take their commissions and leave you with squat. Look for long term growth over short term gain if your the average working guy. Don't count on Social Security for anything.

I've had bad advisors and good ones. I had a good one when this mess began, he's still my man…no one saw this coming…so I can't blame and honest working man (my advisor) as he did not do me wrong. Banks/wall street done me wrong, Bush began helping them and Obiwan continued…and I didn't agree with either one, still don't…even while acknowledging that what they did may well have avoided an even larger mess that would have taken even longer to dig out of…but it takes some imagination to believe that line…from anyone.
If you believe that any person that had been elected a year ago would be popular now…you're kidding yourself. nobody can remain popular with 10% unemployment and housing values dropping…and no one could have avoided those things…except perhaps 10 years ago when these balls got rolling…but that's water under the bridge

on Tuesday. However Obama's drop in the polls reflects more on his policy agenda. The guy still is popular…but as a leader he's fading. I do hope you can work with your advisor to rebuild your financial well being. I know for many their retirement packages went sour when their companies failed or went south. I just happened to be in more conservative funds. I didn't lose …but I didn't hit any projected income targets the last 2 years. We are all waiting for better times and that is why Obama needs to focous on jobs and the economy. Hang in there and good luck.

Thet truth is no one knows what will happen if things go this way or that. It's all a crap shoot…you never know the full consequence of anything until you actually try it. This is pretty much the case for anything, life itself.
But folks that just want things to "stay the same" are dangerously kidding themselves. Nothing can/will "stay the same".
I liken it to "oldies" radio programming. Those stations (and there are thousands) prove that most folks develope their musical taste in high school/college and those tastes "freeze" right there. They are content to go through life listening to the same few thousand songs over and over and over. You either are that type or know many like that.
Things have to move on, they have to…but most folks won't hear of it. They'd rather reject ANYTHING new…out of hand…because it's new. You gotta give some things a shot

I just heard the Obama sound byte, where he said he had hoped that Republicans and Dems would start playing "as a team".
In order for that to happen moron, you have to allow the Republicans into the huddle, or at least invited to "team meetings".
