After a series of hidden-camera videos showed employees of the community organizing group known as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now in several cities offering advice on how to dodge tax laws to set up a brothel, ACORN’s chief executive officer said the organization would conduct a top-to-bottom review of its Brothel Consulting Services Division.

Charles Gibson, ACORN, and why mainstream media does not cover the ACORN story

Gibson : HAHAHAHAHA. HEHEHE. I didn’t even know about it. Um. So, you’ve got me at a loss. I don’t know. Uh. Uh. But my goodness, if it’s got everything including sleaziness in it, we should talk about it this morning.

You're a real pro, Charlie. A shining example of your profession …

Prostitution? He's a tad homely but he puts his heart into it which more than makes up for his shortcomings

Brothel Consulting Services Division… Hahahaha! Love it. (:D)

Uh oh…my comment must have been deemed unacceptable…seemed quite in context but what do I know? Nothing

Is there even one lamestream media personality with an ounce of integrity?! Thank God for the internet, radio and FOX news!!

boberin: Oprah? An ounce? Really? Was that before her latest diet?

  • 11 boberinyetagain // Sep 18, 2009 at 4:18 pm

Oh she has ounces to spare, no worries there but I'm pretty sure only one of them is integrity.

Upnorth : To the best of my knowledge, Diogenes still has his lamp lit.

FWIW, I'm searching for a descriptive phrase to replace "lamestream." I kind of like "the smokescreen media"; also considering "the lamebrain media."

    (cont.)

  • 14 ChileSerrano // Sep 18, 2009 at 7:20 pm

Another possibility: "the slipstream media.' "Slipstream" has some interesting connotations, including this one.

The term 'slipstream' was coined by cyberpunk author Bruce Sterling: "…this is a kind of writing which simply makes you feel very strange; the way that living in the twentieth century makes you feel, if you are a person of a certain sensibility." Slipstream fiction has consequently been referred to as "the fiction of strangeness," which is as clear a definition as any others in wide use. Science fiction authors James Patrick Kelly and John Kessel, editors of Feeling Very Strange: The Slipstream Anthology, argue that cognitive dissonance is at the heart of slipstream, and that it is not so much a genre as a literary effect, like horror or comedy.

    Works for me …

ChiliSerrano: Gibson? Are you sure it was Gibson? That sounds like the EXACT staement bober said on the last thread.

Either they both only watch the BBC or maybe they are the same person? lol

BTW, bober knew NOTHING of the scandal a day and a half ago, yet NOW know, (for a FACT, they were thrown out of the Philly office!

Sounds like bober states facts he gets from other sites then when they are proved wrong, blame it on them like Obama did here:

Odd that it was reported on AOL who usually, (actually ALWAYS) defends Obama. Could it be that the Lame Stream Media is scared of the planned demonstrations planned outside their news agency's in October?

The Tsar of Czars, BHO, is in a full-scale panic. Thus, all of Capitol Hill, has gone berserk; thus, madmen/madwomen are run amok and going to let us get blown up. They're even unleashing Mrs. BHO, the covert mastermind of it all.

Don't they realize that, even if they cry real tears complete with close-up of the welled-up eyeballs, people are still going to say, "Sorry. Too late. School's out?"

  • 19 RAM1 // Sep 18, 2009 at 7:47 pm

Now that the light is being shown on the corruption of Obama's ACORN, maybe it is time to start doing this type of video taping of the corruption that goes on EVERY DAY in the Planned Parenthood clinics where underage girls are told to keep to themselves the names of older men who had ILLEGAL sex with an underage girl?

Maybe the worse that could happen is they stop doing it out of fear they are being video taped, with the best being, they would ALSO stop getting our tax dollars, (as with ACORN), and be put out of business?

Hey Obama——-YOU LIE, Baby's, and old people DIE!!!

  • 20 ChileSerrano // Sep 18, 2009 at 8:04 pm

R.A.M. : Yup, that was Gibson, all right. Guess he was too busy (looking for more material to whack Sarah Palin with, perhaps?) to pay any attention to Acorn …

I would like to ask boberin if "the Philly office" informed the Philadelphia police about the sex trafficking aspect. In Northeast Philly, at least, the police have recently shown some interest in this kind of activity. BTW, there's a comment from "THE_BOBSTER" on the story I just linked to …

Phila Inquirer, which, you may recall I told you I read every day. It is possible to look things up on your own you know…

I heard of ACORN, heard thousands of "scandals" surrounding them throughout the campaign…none of which stuck me as much more than sour grapes/wish we'd thought of it kinda thing…
So, of they did something wrong then, cook en/fry em/give em the gas/let the electricity flow through their….you get the idea. Do what needs done, like I care about ACORN. Do I look like a sqirrel to you?

My bet is I BET you would be hard pressed to find a white person in ANY ACORN office.

Sorry Chili, I just couldn't read all of the tripe. I have watched a bit of "Democracy Now" on LINK television on DirecTV. I think it is something like channel 365? They ran "Senator Obama Goes to Africa" at least once a day all during the Presidential campaign, and I saw it was on even just the other day! I thought that was illegal? Oh wait, that is only if you are promoting a Conservative candidate.

The leftie/socialist hosts there drone on all day long about their ultra lib causes. The only network more bizzare is algore's CURRENT.

They are two big reasons, (among MANY others), to DEMAND ala carte programming for cable/satelight TV!!!

  • 30 RAM1 // Sep 18, 2009 at 10:58 pm

WOW, those racist kids, (the 20 year old young lady, and the 25 year old young man that blew the whistle on ACORN), seem to have FORCED the CONGRESS to do something they did not want to do, even Obama/ACORN's former friends:

    http://www.onenewsnow.com/Business/Default.aspx?i...

I'm betting if it was a Lame Stream Media network that did it, there would be no cries of racism, but instead some sort of a Peabody award?

    What do you think?

  • 31 RAM1 // Sep 18, 2009 at 11:04 pm

Did you get my reply about the "Democracy NOW" program on LINK TV Chili? It must have had forbidden content in it because it has disappeared.

Those people on that show are about as loony as the ones on algore's CURRENT network. Of course they all are drinking from the same Kool Aid pitcher—-"OH Yeah!!!"

  • 32 WhizBang // Sep 19, 2009 at 12:31 am

How about that Republican Beacon Of Light - Fox News - running that false ad that stated the other networks did not cover the Tea Party Protests ?

To listen to you guys Republicans are straight and don't pull 'nasties' !

    Hmmmmmmmmmm !!

  • 33 RAM1 // Sep 18, 2009 at 8:43 pm

I have always thought that slogan, "The City of Brotherly Love" meant something else. Perhaps I was wrong?

As for boberin, I have yet to see a "link" from him to back up his story. It would have to be one I could believe, seeing as to how he "knew nothing about the story" less than a day and a half ago, AND he hasn't bothered to watch all the video's that are posted at biggovernment.com! He only wants to defend the "strawman arguement" of where they DIDN'T succeed! lol

Gibson is old news anyway. He is about to be replaced by a woman. ABC probably thinks this is a good move as payback to women for the shoddy way he treated Sarah Palin?

I bet to a liberal it makes sense that they THINK they are appeasing people that like Sarah, (Conservative women), with a LIBERAL woman? ;-)

My bet is the ratings will continue to free fall.

    On a serious note,
As many of you know, I am an engineer feverishly working out how to defeat attacks from ICBM's
The new regime has stated its new position on missile defense. We in the know already had a sense that the European systems were doomed from the start politically-at this time. I had no idea that POTUS would give it up so cheaply—-FREEE! as a matter of fact [as far as the public knows]. Rocket scientists as a whole all breathed a sigh of relief though that they (the administration) were not complete ^%$^&#$'s by stopping development of the systems themselves. I hope (sefishly- for me and mankind) that even socialists can see a need for defeating millions of megatons of instant death. (What, me worry?)

Anyhow, pray for me since I have to spend a month or two soon in that Godless hole of failed socialist iniquity- Boston, Taxachussets. 2-3 months a year I spend in that cruddy soulless grey city full of Canadian goose feces. Little help?

I am required to list my community volunteerism on my performance development forms. I am proud of my efforts in aiding the downtrodden working at the Santa Barbara ACORN office in the Creative Revisionism Income Moving Equivocation (CRIME) division. Pimps and Prostitutes (P&P) need legal advice just as much, if not more, than the rest of us. I am urging the P&P union to file charges against the right wing neanderthawl kids that broke this story due to the fact that they commited the crime of "Impersonating officers of the un-law"

Life should be fair, darn it

Yeah right whizzer, that's why Republicans are trying to FORCE Planned Parenthood, (Baby Killers "R" Us), to give up the names of ALL who have impregnated underage girls and Demonrats and the ACLU keep fighting to protect the rapist scum.

Are you that dense you cannot see who the RAPISTS are that want to keep from being exposed? AND are you that much of a indecent monster that you can make a joke out of such a serious subject?

There are childen that are having their entire lives ruined because of this travesty and it is a joke to you. DISGUSTING, even for you!

ChileSerrano, ditto! The guy admitting he usually smuggles illegals through Tijuana (sp?) barely raised an eyebrow. I agree with you as well on the tax dodging. Only Dems in Congress and the Obama administration are allowed to cheat Uncle Sam.

  • 46 ChileSerrano // Sep 19, 2009 at 6:45 pm

Upnorth : My only problem with "Dinosaur Media" is that it sounds so imposing … so impressive!

IMHO, "Pond Scum Media" would be more like it … or perhaps "Slime Mold Media" …

Speaking of the Brain-Dead Media … the following story may be the perfect illustration of what's wrong with them.

For Edwards, Drama Builds Toward a Denouement, in the (formerly) venerable (now, merely venomous) New York Times.

Mr. Edwards is moving toward an abrupt reversal in his public posture; associates said in interviews that he is considering declaring that he is the father of Ms. Hunter’s 19-month-old daughter, something that he once flatly asserted in a television interview was not possible.

Does anyone out there still doubt that Edwards is the father of this child? Does anyone out there care? And if so, why ? Is this "news that's fit to print"? Where? In "People Magazine"? Cue Carly Simon singing "You're So Vain" and fade to black …

  • 63 RAM1 // Sep 20, 2009 at 7:04 pm

    Newest Obama lies:

While I don't know much about ACORN, I think what they have done is outrageous!

Not much room left under that "bus", is there "Barry"?

I NEVER asked Governor Patterson to not run for a full term!

In "Obama Speak", that means he NOT ONLY asked him not to run, he threatened what would happen to "blinky's" other eye, if he did!

While I took some "liberty's" with Obama's words, what he said was REAL CLOSE. Unlike him, I didn't twist anything he said into a lie, like he does with what his opposition says!

PS: Whizzer: As if you do not know the correct way to have Scott remove you. PITIFUL!!! Your plea for us to say, "Please don't go whizzer", ain't gonna' work!

Don't go away mad whizzer, just go away!

Leave it to the Obama administration to announce a new "Czar" during the weekend when there will not be near the coverage of it. This is his newest announcement of THREE (3) Czars to the Education Department!

I am not too upset at these appointments, although 3 Czars may be a bit of overkill. Here they are:

R.A.M. : More Czars? Does that mean Obama has finally exceeded Bush's score in that department? And he still has 40 months to go - 88 months if he's reelected!

Is there an "official" way to "resign" from Scrappleface? I don't think I got that memo. Besides, an IntenseDebate Username would work on any site that has ID installed, IIRC … maybe you could go to the IntenseDebate website and do something there … commit e-seppuku, perhaps. Strangers to Dissent, Liberals Try to Stifle It

Thus President Obama in his Sept. 9 speech to a joint session of Congress told us to stop "bickering," as if principled objections to major changes in public policy were just childish obstinacy, and chastised his critics for telling "lies," employing "scare tactics" and playing "games."

Maybe The One should appoint a group of Bad News Czars to deal with his critics …

Chile, correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't stifling dissent one of the definitions of (dare I say it)fascism?!!

  • 78 ChileSerrano // Sep 21, 2009 at 2:26 pm

Upnorth: Interesting. ID says you left this comment only 37 minutes ago, but it had already been down-dinged when I first saw it … looks like boberin isn't the only commenter who that stuff happens to. I up-dinged it to compensate …

IMO, intolerance of dissenting opinion is characteristic of the Left across the spectrum. From the Communists to the National Socialists to the Fascists to the more recent socialist parties of Europe, America and elsewhere - right down to my moonbat relatives, for that matter. Of course, trying to persuade other people is enormously frustrating, horrendously time-consuming and usually fruitless anyway, regardless of the amount of effort you expend. Much easier, and far more efficient, to just whack the disagreeable. You almost can't blame 'em …

I had a feeling that "whizbang" was a crude reference to sex. Now with "It's" new name of "sheboom" I think there is little doubt.

Why is it that the libs have to resort to vulgarities when they cannot win the arguement?

  • 83 ChileSerrano // Sep 21, 2009 at 3:35 pm

What does President Obama define as "rude"?

Apparently, it's perfectly fine to accuse your critics of telling "lies", using "scare tactics", etc. as the Barone article notes …

Haven't heard him chastise Pelosi (astroturf) or Reid (evil-mongers) for their comments …

Is it rude for America's first black president to urge New York's first black Governor (Paterson) to abandon his reelection effort? Seems rude to me …

Was it rude to say that the Cambridge police "acted stupidly"? I thought so …

Guess it depends - but on what?

R.A.M. : FWIW - There's a European women's drumming ensemble out of Glasgow by the name of SheBoom.

Also FWIW - there was a mildly racy magazine, published in the 1920's, that was called Captain Billy's Whiz Bang.

Not sure it makes a lot of sense to try to read too much into this stuff.

I don't recall a lot of "rude vulgarities" being posted here … Scott Ott, IIRC, is not a big fan of vulgar language and does not allow vulgarities to remain on his blog for long, should someone post them.

I do recall some commenters posting remarks that struck me as rude. People using names like "Everthink", and "Laughing@You", and "Newsman", and a number of others. I'd even go to the trouble of digging some of those remarks up and re-posting them, to illustrate my exact meaning, if I were not convinced that Scott would not appreciate it if I resurrected the dreary, annoying incivility that he already had to endure in the past …

Perhaps you have heard of the controversies surrounding the case of Fathima Rifqa Bary. Or perhaps not. The news story I have linked to gives a fairly good brief description of the matter; also, I have purposely chosen it because the author is skeptical of the young woman's claims, and thus cannot simply be dismissed as one-sided. If you are curious, far more information will be found using the most rudimentary internet search.

What I am finding interesting here is the whole concept of apostasy. It seems to me that the left feels that certain groups (blacks, women, homosexuals etc.) have a duty to support them, and any dissenters must be punished relentlessly. If you will, they are apostates, and thus deserve no mercy.

Yes Shelly, I remember you well, and I am reminded of you everytime I visit MRWs' site which I think you had something to do with helping to set up, or maybe it is just because it is also a derivation of her first name.

Ours was a wonderful dog when the children were young, taking any punishment they dished out from biting her ears to riding her back. When she was young she had a food defense reflex that had to be broken quickly. She became a little overprotective as she aged, snapping at strangers which is also a discipline issue that has to be addressed quickly. There is no finer breed when properly trained!

  • 105 SGT_USMC_1ea // Sep 21, 2009 at 11:16 pm

    Ms RW,
I just made a link to your first website on a comment to ProudGSDmom [aka Shelly] happy to see you posted the new link. You may want to consider a blog entry on your old site pointing to the new one. Beautiful work on the school photos- I grew up on the Ohio river near Huntington WV and the pics look similar to what my grandparents had in their home.

  • 106 CallMeShelly // Sep 22, 2009 at 2:24 am

I am having trouble getting on to the site so maybe long posts don't work anymore so I will break it into tow postings

Navigating the new Scrapple highway is a bit mind boggling but like all things we encounter throughout life it is just a matter of jumping in and getting wet. Folks it is easy to get side lined on other projects and this photo restoration project sucked me in. Hopefully I will find time to show up once in a while again.

Sgt USMC, thanks for the suggestion. I will link both web sites together and with a little luck I will get back into Shelly's Cafe once again. I have been hanging out with my car nut friends every weekend at the local cruise-in. Summer, like always, soon disappears and with the much dreaded winter staring me in the face I take advantage of time with music, cars and friends while it lasts.

Chile Serrano, Mr Rags has been fine for a good amount of time. He got a good long brushing yesterday and I swear he is 5 pounds lighter, making him 20 pounds, not the usual 25 or so pounds. He loves my new health aide and carries on like a lost child every time she shows up.

  • 107 CallMeShelly // Sep 22, 2009 at 2:25 am

    Part two

As for myself, well the MS is still progressing and I find more and more that I just can't keep up with everything. I have just pulled through a terrible week-but that is all the complaining you will hear from me now (maybe more later).

I need to figure out how Scott put up the money thermometer since I am also setting up a goal for the new computer. I amazingly saved up $500 towards the $800 or so needed for the new computer at Best Buy. Like this amazing Sony, I expect the new one to last another 6 years or better. This computer I am now using has been a work horse but with photo work I need to step up to a dual or quad core, with much more ram and a larger hard drive. I never had one bad word for this Sony, but they have moved into the laptop circuit so Hewlett Packard will have to suffice.

I have a few more photo gigs lined up plus a small photo show on Friday. There is still much to learn but my little MS brain will only chug along so fast.

P.S. on the savings-I tore up every credit card I owned and like the $800 scanner I scrimped and saved every cent and e-bayed my life away in order to buy it. It feels so good to receive the paid in full receipt. Folks, those credit card companies are killing people. My ex-Sears card has gone up to 24.9 percent. They will get a small pittance every month until I die though I know they will be the winner by soaking me with usury fees.

If Obama cares so much for the poor why is he allowing the bankers to rape and pillage the small guy? Guess I should visit the local ACORN office and see how I can get some goberment money. I bet Aunt Sarah has a few things to say about the Acorns.

Good day and I am glad to see you all again. Smiles and kisses

Chili, you may be right although, the Scrapplers that have been here since Scott started this blog may remember a certain poster that posted under crude names like "blank" steamer" among others.

Odd thing was, that poster was a lib also.

The other thing is "sheboom/whizbang" changed it's name right after I called him/her out for making a joke of ACORN being involved in child trafficing.

Chili and NurMahal: You both may be right although, the Scrapplers that have been here since Scott started this blog may remember some certain posters that posted under crude names like "blank, (name of an Ohio NFL city) steamer" among others filthy names. I was frankly shocked when it was pointed out what it meant and that people actually did such degrading things, and I grew up in the 1960's and 70's! Didn't think I could be shocked.

Odd thing was, those posters were libs also.

The other thing is "sheboom/whizbang" changed it's name right after I called him/her out for making a joke of ACORN being involved in child trafficing. Now he/she is trying to turn the tables and accuse us of "rude vulgarities".

Shewhiz, (CheeseWhiz?), sounds like the libs "fearful leader" when he was talking about the media being "rude" when that is exactly what he was by snubbing FOX News, along with more than half the Nation!

Chris Wallace nailed it when he said the Obama administration is nothing but a bunch of cry baby's!!!

Time to head for the mountain tops:

No nation, however large or small, wealthy or poor, can escape the impact of climate change. Rising sea levels threaten every coastline. More powerful storms and floods threaten every continent. More frequent drought and crop failures breed hunger and conflict in places where hunger and conflict already thrive. On shrinking islands, families are already being forced to flee their homes as climate refugees. The security and stability of each nation and all peoples – our prosperity, our health, our safety – are in jeopardy. And the time we have to reverse this tide is running out.

JL3: Your post made me realize something. The libs constantly say when we are involved in wars, they say things like "-we are not the "world police" and should mind our own business!", BUT when it comes to the things they want to shove down the world's throat like being 'green', they feel it is OK to dictate to the world. Pitiful, they don't see their own hypocracy!

Wonder how long it will be before they combine the two and declace war on Countries that do NOT agree to go 'green'?

That should REALLY cause "Global Warming", or should I say "Global Glowing" if we try to get 'huffy' about green power with China and Russia?
