Audio: Scott Ott Speech at Tea Party Rally

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 8 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

ScrappleFace.com editor and Washington Examiner columnist Scott Ott spoke at several Tea Party rallies, including the Lehigh Valley rally on April 18. Below is an audio excerpt (<10 min.) from that rally. It was a windy day as Scott stood on a picnic table to speak with several hundred people. The wind noise in the mic is slightly annoying, but bearable. Scott Ott is also candidate for a Lehigh County Executive, in Pennsylvania. The position oversees 2,200 employees and a $405 million budget. The Republican candidate plans to cut spending, limit the role of government and foster a long-term, low-tax atmosphere for free enterprise.

We had better roll up our sleeves, your vision for America will require a lot of hard work.

    Yes it will.

For a lot of us, just keeping a roof over our heads and food on the table is a heavy load. As you said, we aren’t the type that stop what we normally do in the middle of the work week to attend things of this nature.
What is the next step? This was a good start, but I don’t think they are really taking us serious yet. The media had their template out and did their best to make us fit into it. They have probably forgotten about us by now, just a blip on the radar.

mkk Re#3, remember, unlike the libs who bus in ringers to get themselves on the news, those of us (lots of us, to be sure) who attended the T.E.A. Parties weren’t just making a statement, we were defining a movement; the press coverage was (as it should be) peripheral to the events. A lot of the people who attended the one we were at exchanged names and numbers or signed up to stay in touch with the organizers and each other, and a lot of T.E.A. Parties (ours included) have become active communities in Facebook, Twitter, etc.

I’ll have to listen at home…I’m betting it was inspiring.

Scott, I am right behind you in spirit. As I lay in my bed, I too, think I can conquer the world one office at a time. But, when I arise and start my day I just can’t beat off this stupid disease.

I do agree, for those who can, you better look for real change, not the bill of goods we have been sold.

God speed for those who can. I will lift up the warriors in prayer.
