Scott - I truly enjoyed “Meet the PJTV blogs” I was crying with the rest of you. It made me appreciate my wall poster all the more; as follows, especially #’s 6, 20 & 22:

I love keeping these around, as a “heads up” reminder to myself:

    FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE

    1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.

    2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone

    3. Colt: The original point and click interface.

    4. Gun control is not about guns; it’s about control.

    5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?

    6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.

    7. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.

    8. If you don’t know your rights, you don’t have any.

    9. Those who trade “ Liberty ” for “Security” have neither.

    10. The United States Constitution (c) 1791. All Rights Reserved.

    11. What part of ’shall not be infringed’ do you not understand?

    12. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.

    13. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.

    14. Guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians.

    15. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.

    16. You don’t shoot to kill; you shoot to Stay Alive.

    17. 911: Government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.

    18. Assault is a behavior, not a device.

    19. Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer.

    20. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.

    21. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.

    22. You have only the rights you are willing to fight for.

    23. Enforce the gun control laws we ALREADY have; don’t make more.

    24. When you remove the people’s right to bear arms, you create slaves.

    25. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.

Too bad PJTV won’t work on a Linux machine but I’m sure it’s a very nice video.

Isn’t any scrapplefacer going to give credit to Obama and our military for an appropriate and successful action [against the pirates] ?

  • 10 JamesonLewis3rd // Apr 13, 2009 at 7:03 pm

If BHO had actually done anything he would get credit for it, but he didn’t.

    REAGAN’S NUGGET OF GOLD
    From today’s Patriot Post:

    THE GIPPER
“[April 15] is the last day for filing income tax returns — a day that reminds us that taxpayers pay too much of their earnings to the Federal Government. … While April 15 serves as a reminder, the people of the United States truly do not need to be reminded. They are victims of inflation, which pushes them into higher tax brackets. They are robbed daily of a better standard of living. They are discouraged from work and investment. … The choice before us is clear. I strongly feel that the great majority of Americans believe that nothing would better encourage economic growth than leaving more money in the hands of the people who earn it. It’s time to stop stripping bare the productive citizens of America and funneling their hard-earned income into the Federal bureaucracy.” -Ronald Reagan

If he were alive today - I think he’d show up at one of the Nationwide TEA Parties on the 15th.

JL3rd #10 - Today Rush pointed out that B.O. was in a “payback mode” when he ordered the Navy Seals to fire.

He just returned from his European tour of “making nice” with them, only to be rebuffed at every point. Empty handed, he made his point that he didn’t need their help, cooperation and/or approval to take unilateral action against the pirates.

This action will no doubt raise his popularity rating by several points (currently at 53%) He’s following very closely in Hugo Chavez’s footprints.

Hugo, unsatisfied with his 60% rating shut down all conservative radio and TV in an effort to get a 20 point raise. B.O.’s next ploy will probably be a more Draconian version of the “Fairness Doctrine” (with a different but equally misleading name) and making FOX tv illegal.

He’s got to do everything he can get away with, as quickly as possible, before his real birth certificate surfaces. (at which time, he’ll be facing some very real hard time in prison).

In the meantime he has to maximize his power grab and hope his several teams of lawyers (at a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars) will be able to keep his $12.00 birth certificate well hidden for the next four or eight years.

Jameson, you are a dumb arse !

Guess you never gave credit to GW for his 9/11 actions either ?

  • 14 JamesonLewis3rd // Apr 13, 2009 at 8:30 pm

May I have some evidence, please, that BHO ordered anyone to fire on the pirates (or ordered them to do anything [besides nothing], for that matter)?

  • 15 Newsman // Apr 13, 2009 at 8:38 pm

From Stratfor - a private intelligence service for businesses …. [subscribe for a fee]

“Positioned on the fantail, at the stern of the USS Bainbridge, Navy SEALs had a steady, clear view of the lifeboat. With 24-hour cover, along with the ability to gain essentially any angle on the lifeboat, it was simply a matter of waiting for the pirates to make a mistake. U.S. President Barack Obama had already given the captain of the USS Bainbridge the authority to take action, so when one of the pirates was spotted through a window allegedly pointing his weapon at Captain Phillips and the two other pirates emerged from the rear hatch, sharpshooters took action and killed the three pirates and rescued Captain Phillips. While it cannot be confirmed, such teams would also deploy with thermal imaging equipment, which may have aided in the operation.”

It is also in the public news !

  • 16 Newsman // Apr 13, 2009 at 8:59 pm

Jameson - I suggest you take the time to research the flow of authority from the Commander In Chief, i.e., the President of the USA passed down thru the military via the Joint Chiefs Of Staff to the guy in the field with a gun in his/her hand.

The US military is not authorized to kill anyone without the express authority of the Commander In Chief.

In the case of the Bainbridge’s Captain, aside from a standing authority to defend his ship and crew if being attacked, he is not authorized to willy nilly shoot at anyone he takes a fancy to killing.

In this case, he was specifically authorized by the Commander In Chief to fire upon [ "take action" ] the pirates if he determined that the Maersk’s Captain was in danger of being killed.

  • 17 JamesonLewis3rd // Apr 13, 2009 at 10:03 pm

Thank you for proving that BHO gave no such orders.

1934 Chicago Tribune Cartoon-”Planned Economy or Planned Destruction!”

    http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2009/04/1934-chicago-tribune-cartoon/

Cartoon from 1934 Chicago Tribune: The circle of history continues:
(Note the near carbon-copy of today’s Democrat Party’s policies for dealing with a low economy and that of Pres. Roosevelt’s Depression Era Democrats: Blame business/Capitalism while spending to buy votes, then blame business/Capitalist and spend again to buy more, until…???!! The industrial boost from World War Two, with great loss of America lives, pulled us out of the Great Depression, so what tragedy will bail us out of today’s Democrat spending binge and the huge inflationary period down the road? BL)

    The Curmudgeon Says:

There’s a big difference between now and the 1930’s that Ayn Rand wrote about. In Rand’s day the government was growing ever more powerful, appropriating property from the producers to give to the non-producers (as Rand saw it). She wondered what would happen if the producers, i.e., the capitalists, i.e., “Atlas” shrugged.

Today, Atlas (in the form of the financial industry) controls the government, claiming that if he fails, so too will the government, which is a part of the world he carries on his shoulders. He and the government are in collusion to effectuate the same transfer as before, i.e., take from the producers and give to the non-producers, but this time the producers are the taxpayers and the non-producers are the government and its overseer, the financial industry. But the real Atlas here is the taxpayers. What happens if they shrug?

Perhaps our April 15th’s Tea Parties are a precursor of the “shrug”???

The name of the ship is not “Maersk” by the way.
