Obama Copies GM Worker Buyout with GOP Senators

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 299 Comments

(2009-02-03) — In announcing the appointment of Republican Sen. Judd Gregg (NH) as secretary of commerce, the White House today revealed it had begun implementing a buyout plan similar to the one General Motors extended to 62,000 hourly workers this week.

GM has offered $20,000 and a free car worth $25,000 to any hourly employee willing to leave the company payroll.

Sen. Gregg took the Obama buyout offer, trading in his elected post for an appointment as commerce secretary, a pay hike of about $20,000 and “a transportation package that rivals Tom Daschle’s” according to White House sources.

The Obama administration now stands ready to offer the same deal to any GOP Senator from a state with a Democrat governor.

Sen. Gregg made the move only on the condition that New Hampshire’s Gov. John Lynch would appoint a Republican to replace him. While conservatives expressed concern about whether the Democrat governor would keep his promise, Gov. Lynch’s office said today he has already left a message on the voicemail of Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA).

They’ll get that filibuster-proof majority by hook or by “crook”…

  • 2 Harry Daschle // Feb 3, 2009 at 7:51 pm

No need to offer the R.I.N.O. replacement anything. IF Lynch keeps his word, (excuse me for laughing at the thought of a dem/lib keeping their word about ANYTHING lol), you can be sure the replacement will be a carbon copy of Lincoln Chaffe, Olympia Snow, or the R.I.N.O. Governor of California, that will vote with the libs.

Gee, I wonder if Obama picked this Republican because the Democrat Gov would get to pick his replacement?

And I was just beginning to believe Obama was trying to be non-partisan.

I still don’t know why Obama sent those Black Panthers over to talk to Dad last night, but Dad sure is walking funny today.

The quote of 2009, 2010 and possibly beyond …

There are two kinds of people in the electorate: One. People who remember how horrible the Jimmy Carter years were. Two. People who are about to find out.

For America’s sake I hope this doesn’t prove to be true but I remember Mr. Jimmah getting off to a far better start. Already Tom Daschle has withdrawn his name and Obama is quoted as saying, “I screwed up.” Of course the barking moonbats will praise Mr. Obama for admitting he “screwed up.” Oh well.

Scott is the only one here who engages in wholesome satire. Most of the rest of you just specialize in seeing how well you can outdo each other in insulting people who don’t agree with you !

This offer is now to be dubbed the “Baby, You Can Drive My Car Option”.

HotAir has two (actually several) good threads on the “Stimulus” bill. The interview with SC Gov. Mark Sanford demonstrates so much common sense in fiscal conservatism and sense of responsibility that it should be spread far and wide.

The other thread features how many Democrats are jumping Nancy Pelosi’s ship of legislation, especially in that her style of crafting bills in the House contradicts what our Founding Fathers had in mind regarding representative government. It appears that the nation does not care for San Francisco treats.

MajorDomo Re#10, the change since the close of the honesty and optimism of the Bush Administration has been breathtaking. What we’re seeing now from the White House, in story after story, from the selling of Obama’s old Senate seat to the endless stream of tax-evasion scandals, fits the “change” motif only by relating it to the proverbial bad penny.

So, shooting the messenger now, Newsman? Way to go. BTW, the stuff I engage in is magnitude of orders tamer than the shrill garbage that had previously been put out by the barking moonbats on your side of the aisle, Newsman, and I sure don’t remember you condemning them for their profane, lying conspiracy theories and calumnies against POTUS. You really do enjoy engaging in double-standards, dontya?

Oh, and here’s another one based on undeniable, videotaped TRUTH. Remember how Mr. Biden engaged in some disgraceful mockery of Chief Justice Roberts regarding the administering of the oath of office to Mr. Obama from memory (and funny thing, Newsman, I don’t remember you railing against Mr. Biden for his despicable partisan mockery of the good Chief Justice)? Well, Mr. Biden has proven once again that what goes around does indeed comes around (btw, Newsman, that’s all I’m doing, I’m being liberals worst nightmare because I’m merely being a mirror reflecting back attitudes that you and your liberal buddies have been engaging in the last seven years of your anti-Bush hatefest). Now get this, Mr. Biden flubbed administering the oath to Hillary and he did this WHILE LOOKING AT HIS CRIB NOTES! What a moron. Yes, what a moron because that is exactly what people like you and your liberal buddies would have said if George W., Dan Quayle or Ronald Reagan had made a similar gaffe. Admit it. Kind of tough taking your own medicine, eh, and you’re going to have four years of this and you can only thank yourselves for creating such a divisive climate that we’re actually having a little fun with while still taking the high road by not lying or using four letter words (as your side did with relish) or overinflating gaffes and honest mistakes .

That’s why I’m on record as saying how interesting it will be to watch you libs hate your way to national unity or hate your way to world peace. You should have previously thought about what your own attitudes and ad hominem attacks would produce when you had to have known righteous backlash was in the cards. Blame yourselves for first poisoning the pond because THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT YOU PEOPLE DID with your arrogant mendacity the last seven years.

And how dare you deny me a more sanitized means of taking the very hate you people have been spewing about conservatives and George W. and cramming right back down your throats. YOU’RE THE ONES who started all this partisan sniping and were far more profane about it than anything I’ve come up with so far. So save your manufactured outrage for the nutcases on your side of the aisle who are still engaging in their bile and venom as they rush to defend their messiah from the truth. BTW, if we can have our fun at the expense of liberals who so richly deserve every evil thing which comes their way, then who can we make fun of? At least our humor is based on truth and not some ginned up liberal media myth.

You are wasting your breath Darth, one of the newsdud’s upcoming posts will be another rehash of his ignorance about Rush Limbaugh’s hope that Obama fails. His ability to understand is skewed so badly that he will still be partying when America hits the point of no return - which very well could be sometime in Obama’s first term. I’m fairly sure that our nation has already been given over to a reprobate mind by the Almighty One, so the point of no return I am referring to is purely secular, and you can bet your bottom dollar that our enemies will rejoice at that day even with Present-dent Obama in office.

  • 33 Darthmeister // Feb 4, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Newsman, has your IQ just dropped to an all time low? I’ve already explained, I’m just a mirror reflecting back the same things you liberals have been pulling out of your playbook the last thirty years, and particularly in the last seven years. Go yell at yourself in a mirror because that’s exactly what you’re doing here you twit.

Conservatives in general, and conservative Christians in particular, have suffered the slings and arrows of liberal humanists/secularists/Demoncrats since the Reagan years. That’s about three decades of patience you didn’t deserve. We’ve been mocked, intellectual spit upon, called all kinds of names from “neanderthals” to “anarchronistic dinosaurs” to “racists” to “homophobes” to “sexists” blah, blah, blah ad nauseam.

Well guess what, Newsman? People like me have finally had it and are sick and tired of being your punching bags. So now we’ve decided to fight fire with fire (your fire, btw) and look how you howl like a wounded banshee! Is your skin really that thin, particularly in light of the decades of abuse you people have heaped upon those of us who most accurately reflect the founding values and political ideology of our Christian forefathers? Me thinks thou protesteth too much. If you’re really so offended why do you keep coming back here to whine? A sense of duty? A sick pathology that you harbor? Or maybe you enjoy being insulted with the truth? Is that it? Well, I’m more than happy to indulge this deep-seated illness that you have if it keeps you coming back for more.

For decades many of us here have patiently remonstrated with people like you … and we’ve reasoned and we’ve quoted from the historical record and we’ve produced video and audio documentation which proves our point time and time again, and yet you oh so “compassionate” and “open-minded” left-wing hacks still puke your hate on us. So, no more retreat, no more “turning the other cheek”, no more Mr. NiceGuy and no more door mat for the likes of you and the rest of you silly Marxist liars who think you’re soooooooo much smarter and better informed than the rest of us unwashed peons. And if you Obamatons want to take this to the streets, well be our guest, but you’ll receive no quarter from me and millions of other conservative patriots who have had enough of your lying pusallanimity that has justified your own hatred of conservatives, mocked traditional American values, and blamed/torn down this country in hopes of advancing your bankrupt political agenda.

And wonders of wonders, even now people like you aren’t happy with your hollow and hopefully short-lived political victory. Hence we’re still made to suffer your perpetual whining and self-righteous fingerpointing here at Scrappleface. Sheesh, deal with it, troll.

    New topic for discussion:

Let’s see, Obama has been MOTUS for about two weeks and already there have been: 1)innocent civilians killed in Afghanistan and Iraq on his watch; 2) he’s reaffirmed warrantless FISA wiretaps through executive orders as an appropriate tool to keep track of Islamic terrorists; 3) through another executive order has expanded the CIA rendition program, 4) and has already been called arrogant by foreign powers who didn’t like his “pro-America” emphasis regarding foreign trade, national security and economic policies. So, by liberals’ own definition Mr. Obama is already a fascist war criminal and he’s yet to give his first State of the Union speech!

  • 34 Darthmeister // Feb 4, 2009 at 3:54 pm

Thus Spaketh Pelosi: 500 million Americans will lose their jobs. Having thus embraced the liberal’s way of making their points about Republican leaders like George W., I’m forced to conclude Nancy Pelosi is a “chimp” and a “moron” who should get a refund from her university for the lousy education she received. All this time in the public’s eye and she still can’t get her facts straight. Can you imagine the howling by the liberal national socialist media if Dick Cheney had made a similar remark? This ranks right up there with Mr. Obama’s 57 states comment.

LC-RM … apology accepted. Don’t blame yourself for that which comes natural to liberal leaders. At least she’s getting a pass from the liberal media and this too will pass into oblivion since liberals will exercise the very nuance they deny conservatives and say she meant to say “500,000″ and it came out “500 million”. But you know the lefties would have never been so charitable toward George W. or any other Republican if that had “misspoken” in similar manner, hence their utter hypocrisy if they dare castigate us for having a little fun with Pelosi sticking her big fat liberal foot in her mouth.

BTW, if they can find a way to harness the power of eyeblinks, Ms. Pelosi could possibly power up an entire suburban neighborhood minute for minute.

  • 35 Darthmeister // Feb 4, 2009 at 4:07 pm

BTW. If Sarah Palin had slipped up and said what Nancy Pelosi said, Democrats would have screeched how this was definitive proof that #$%^@ & ! Palin wasn’t ready for national politics. This is certainly not far-fetched since liberals were actually holding Sarah accountable for the things Tina Fey was saying while portraying Ms. Palin on SNL!

  • 36 Left Coast-Right Mind // Feb 4, 2009 at 4:30 pm

On second thought, Nancy Pelosi’s claim of 500 million Americans losing their jobs every single month that a ‘recovery (whatever you do, don’t call it a ’stimulus’) package’ is not passed is not a case of misspeak at all. It was merely an exaggeration of the facts intended to illustrate and make clear to the American public just how dire the economic situation is. Kind of like how Obama exaggerated that 10,000 people died in a Kansas tornado. The final death toll was 12, but that isn’t a big enough number to describe just how powerful a tornado is, especially one that was spawned due to ‘anthropomorphic (whatever you do, don’t call it ‘man-made global warming’) climate change’. So a more suitable number, like say, 10,000, was needed to really drive the point home. See? It’s only being done for the benefit of the citizenry, so that we can see that all the problems we face are our own fault, and that the government needs to be granted the power necessary to fix the messes we’ve made.

R.A,M.: Rounding off and using fear tactics (”I’m here to save the planet!!!” Without the stimulus, 500,000 million jobs will be lost a month!!!”) appear to be the Nazi Porklouski’s M.O.

As far as Barack Alinksy is concerned, I guess that I am not the only one keeping score: http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=ZDEwNzk5ZGVhZjMxMzIxZGIyODBkNzA3NWNmZGU3Nzk=

With Nazi Porklouski’s accompaniment, the next time Barack Alinsky ste[s out of the White House pressure cooker to visit a public school, perhaps the two can read the incredible adventures of the stimulus bill, My Pet Stoat.

  • 45 mindknumbed kid // Feb 4, 2009 at 6:56 pm

What is so unbelievable about the popularity of Present-dent Barack Obama is how openly and obviously following Alinski’s roadmap to the socialization of the nation formerly known as the USA, and people such as the trolls that leave droppings all over this site do not worry in the least about it. I guess BDS also affects your ability to see what anyone other than Bush is doing. Too bad he is back in Texas and out of the spotlight now, they are probably going crazy now trying to find something to feed it (BDS) with. As we travel down the Alinski Trail most of us here will do so with our eyes open, aware of what is taking place, unfortunately most of the people in this country have never heard of Saul Alinski and know nothing of his teaching and writings. Probably most “main stream” urinalists know as much or less than the populous of such things. One must assume that the Obamatons that make frequent appearances here and are thus aware of these things are in favor of the destruction of capitalism, and favor socialism. Of course you won’t hear them admit it, and you won’t even see them discuss such matters. I suspect they are still afraid to “come out of the closet”.

  • 46 JamesonLewis3rd // Feb 4, 2009 at 7:01 pm

15 percent of all construction jobs created under the economic stimulus bill will go to illegal immigrants. Isn’t that wonderful?

  • 47 mindknumbed kid // Feb 4, 2009 at 7:20 pm

Is that 15% of those jobs will go to known illegal immigrants? If so another 20% of them will probably be illegals who are “blending in” with the help of stolen identities. Liberals are so benevolent with other people’s property (money, jobs, etc.) but give little of their own property to charitable causes, and apparently even though it is very patriotic to pay taxes (the higher, the better) it appears as though many of them are not as patriotic as they claim. Just think, the (uninformed and undereducated) voters just gave those liberals charge of our national security, I wander how charitable they are going to be with it? Obama’s friendly chat with Mr. al last week may be indicative of the future of our national security. Liberals- giving us away in a “fair and equitable” manner to make the world like us…and feeling good about it!

  • 48 everthink // Feb 4, 2009 at 7:30 pm

    MNK,

When you say: “What is so unbelievable about the popularity of Present-dent Barack Obama is how openly and obviously following Alinski’s roadmap to the socialization of the nation…” Does this mean you have actually read something written by Saul Alinski?

If so, what was the name of the book, or other publication? If you have no first hand knowledge of Alinski’s writings, why do you not use quotation marks and citations?

It’s a good thing that I saved this succinct posting from elsewhere, et, so that your education can continue.

OBLAHBLAH hasn’t had to be careful, because he’s sold everyone on the single word…”CHANGE”

Do some background research on him, and he’s nothing less than emulating extreme leftist Saul Alinsky, but in OBLAHBLAH’s case, he’s on steroids. Alinsky was a Chicago organizer, that had strong ties with the Communist party U.S.A.. Sound familiar?

Here are Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals
Rule 1: Power is not only what you have, but what an opponent thinks you have. If your organization is small, hide your numbers in the dark and raise a din that will make everyone think you have many more people than you do.

Rule 2: Never go outside the experience of your people. The result is confusion, fear, and retreat.

Rule 3: Whenever possible, go outside the experience of an opponent. Here you want to cause confusion, fear, and retreat.

Rule 4: Make opponents live up to their own book of rules. “You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”

Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.

Rule 6: A good tactic is one your people enjoy. “If your people aren’t having a ball doing it, there is something very wrong with the tactic.”

Rule 7: A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues.

Rule 8: Keep the pressure on. Use different tactics and actions and use all events of the period for your purpose. “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this that will cause the opposition to react to your advantage.”

Rule 9: The threat is more terrifying than the thing itself. When Alinsky leaked word that large numbers of poor people were going to tie up the washrooms of O’Hare Airport, Chicago city authorities quickly agreed to act on a longstanding commitment to a ghetto organization. They imagined the mayhem as thousands of passengers poured off airplanes to discover every washroom occupied. Then they imagined the international embarrassment and the damage to the city’s reputation.

Rule 10: The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. Avoid being trapped by an opponent or an interviewer who says, “Okay, what would you do?”

Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack20abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.

According to Alinsky, the main job of the organizer is to bait an opponent into reacting. “The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength.”

Obama, the “Community Organizer” has managed to incorporate many of these methods from his early days on through his campaign years. It’s too bad that he is personally unable to counteract Rule #5 because he sets himself up for ridicule more often than not.

He and Nancy Pelosi, as well as the attack dogs of the Dems-Carville and Begala- do a bang-up job with #11. You? Not so much…

JL3: Funny how the Dems think that Hispanic voters will continue to be happy to vote for them in the future.

Even the dumbest Dim Jackarse should know that the Hispanics will want people in government of their own race soon, and people like Pelosi, Reid, Kerry, Kennedy, etc will be out on their hindquarters!

Well, that is if Teddy lasts that long. He has an overdue appointment to explain some things to Mary Jo and GOD!

Glenn Beck seems to be the only one warning of the threat of Mexico’s total collapse. It will be ugly, and is coming SOON!

If you think the Hispanic gangs that are already here are bad, “you ain’t seen nothing yet!”

Obama will be hiding under his desk when it happens! I believe Michelle is more a man than he.

Actually, Michelle is more a man than MOST lib boys! :-)

  • 52 Fred Sinclair // Feb 4, 2009 at 8:14 pm

ola #44 - Mark Steyn (filling in for Rush today) kept using a figure from Nancy Pelosi about 500 million jobs being lost every month - even broke it down “That’s 125 million jobs a week”.

The last time I checked there’s only a tad over 300 million people in the entire United States (and that’s even including illegal aliens) so the figure you used in #44 of 500,000 million, that’s five hundred thousand million jobs being lost each month. I didn’t hear her - did she really use such a figure?

A man’s word is his worth and his worth is his word. I’ve heard that all of my life.

As for the usuper: The usurper said, “The greatest risk we can take is to continue the same old politics with the same old players.” Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, tax cheat; Tom Daschle, tax cheat; Linda Panetta the daughter of Leon Panetta, who was recently named to be the new CIA director. Linda is a supporter of all the anti-American regimes in this Hemisphere, Clinton Administration; Ron Emanuel, Clinton Administration; Robert Rice, Clinton Administration; Eric Holder, Clinton Administration; Carole Brauner, Clinton Administration; Susan Rice, Clinton Administration; Hillary Clinton, Clinton Administration.

Looks like his word is worth about as much as he is, eh?

  • 54 Fred Sinclair // Feb 4, 2009 at 8:36 pm

ola my #52 - I just reread my post and don’t like the way it came out. The line: “A man?s word is his worth and his worth is his word. I?ve heard that all of my life” is supposed to be attached to the following paragraph and was in reference to the usurper.

In no way was it intended to reflect on you or the preceding two paragraphs. My bad.

et - So Alinski was a committed capitalist? You did a great job of skirting the crux of my post. Reading Alinski types is akin to taking poison, how much I have read isn’t as relevant as to how much I understand what I have read. I take your response in #48 as a satement that you agree with his writings and are happy to see the destruction of capitalism here and around the world. Thank you for having enough guts to come out of the closet and declare your undying love for socialism!

  • 57 Shelly // Feb 4, 2009 at 8:47 pm

  • 58 onlineanalyst // Feb 4, 2009 at 8:55 pm

Fred: You are correct about that job loss figure that Pelosi claimed. It’s 500 million.

The Linda Panetta tidbit that you cite is incorrect though. While that woman is, indeed, a supporter of anti-American groups, she is not the daughter of Leon Panetta. She has led people to think so, but I believe that he has only sons. Panetta has his own weaknesses as CIA director though, and the rank-and-file intelligence folks are none too happy with his appointment.

Hi, Shelly! How is your son doing? Is he still overseas?

“Linda Panetta- Anti-Us Agitator, Leon Panetta- CIA Director Nominee… Is there anything wrong with this picture?
    By PUMA Pundit • January 18, 2009

While I don’t think it is reasonable to expect Leon to control his grown daughter’s actions, I question the wisdom in appointing as the head of the

    CIA a man who:

    1) Has no intelligence background (although we’ve been informed he is a consumer of intelligence )

    2) Has a daughter who is actively lecturing about the negative “implications of US foreign policy and the realities of war.” and who hangs out with enemies of the United States.

If Leon becomes the head of the CIA, what assurances if any can we get that Linda won’t have access to classified information which would then be passed on to the people she circulates with?

Incidentally, it is an open secret that the School of the Americas is a training ground for Pro-US military officers from the Western Hemisphere. Officers who go back to their countries upon completion of their studies and in many cases work closely with the CIA to promote US economic and diplomatic interests.

CAVEAT: Based on the reasearch we’ve done, it seems Linda is the daughter of Leon. She’s definitely given speaking engagements using that family history, there is however some controversy about her parentage, so till it’s conclusively proven that Leon is her father, take this one with a grain of salt.”

What is clear is that when you read through Alinski’s Rules for Radicals, you see the troll has mastered the use of them, therefore I am assuming he has studied his writings extensively.
One thing I remember hearing or reading was the teaching to become like the people that you are trying to overcome, if they are Christians, then you must also be a Christian. (I only use quotation marks on something I know to be written verbatim, I am paraphrasing most of the time.) His claim as being a Christian is suspect, it does not appear to have any bearing on the positions and policies he endorses, I do not know of anyone of the regulars here that are openly supporting things that are clearly in violation of what we read in the Word of God.
So I restate my view that Obama is openly following that unpatriotic man’s teachings in an effort to move America from being a capitalist nation to a socialist nation. If the troll has some kind of argument to convince me, and the like minded folks here, as to how our views about this are wrong, then he should present them in an effort to persuade us. But he won’t, because he is the only student of Saul Alinsky that comes around these parts.

  • 128 R.A.M. // Feb 6, 2009 at 12:40 pm

LC-RM: #121, VERY GOOD point! If you read other blog and columns by black Americans, it is EASY to see where they are politically after only a few words.

The “race baiter blacks” say things like, “Oh you whities think since a black President was elected that we are supposed to forget slavery now?” Most then start the vulgar language and accuse all whites of owning trailers, and marrying their sisters.

Then you have great Americans like Thomas Sowell who are intelligent enough to see how the Dems have. (and ALWAYS will), hold his race down by giving “just enough” to the ones who don’t want to work, and think they are “owed” something. Dems actually do this to ALL races, but take advantage of the “victim mentality” of blacks for past injustices. They also do this for blacks and illegals more because they want their votes.

That is why it is hard to understand why a TRUE race baiter would be satisfied with “Barry”, who is as much white as he is black!

Probably why a “full blooded black” like Je$$e wanted to be Obama’s “Surgeon”?

The bottom line is, the “victim mentality” blacks will NEVER be satisfied until they have it ALL, just as their “masters” the Dimocratic Party, who want it all too!

He makes Dubya look like a genius. The Obummer Ecollapse has occurred, and in the gathering darkness, the wheels are coming off. I’ve been Scrappling on this site for a number of years now. I used to be drawn to this site for Scott’s clever satire but also for the talented and often quite clever discourse of the Scrapplers who frequented the site. Lately the populace of Scrappledom seems far to eager to snipe at each other like the Bumpus hounds over a Christmas turkey leg.

There were times when denizens of Scrappledom put some thought into their discourse. How I miss the Great Santini’s song parodies, and Mr RWs’ stories from the farm and her take off on the Brair Rabbit tales.

Alas, we are left to pick through troll sniping so foul that it makes Rambutan’s screeds seem like the Lincoln/Douglas debates.

Regardless of where you stand on an issue please take some time to self edit. If your comment is a personal attack on another Scrappler please don’t bother to post it. It might make you feel better, but frankly, nobody else wants to read it. I’m sure Scott gets tired of having to edit tasteless comments as well. He has better things to do with his time.

Officials say tentative stimulus deal reached (AP)

AP - Amid stunning new job losses and yet another bank failure, key senators and the White House reached tentative agreement Friday night on an economic stimulus measure at the heart of President Barack Obama’s recovery plan. Two officials said the emerging agreement was for a bill with a $780 billion price tag, but there was no immediate confirmation.

Apparently “Barry” has used his hypnotic powers on enough R.I.N.O.’s to get his partisan bill passed.

    Good luck getting reelected morons!

Here is my analysis of where Barry-O’s problems lie in regard to approval ratings. If John McCain had won the election conservatives such as ourselves would have been unenthusiastic, just as we would have been with Bush were it not for his handling of national security. Why? Because they are not conservatives! Who is it that Obama appeals to? The hard left moveon types and the tingly legged media. They are the only ones that are euphoric when it comes to him. Their expectations are for him to govern from the far left. As it becomes more and more apparent that he is not able to govern the way they are expecting him to govern, the euphoria will dwindle. I think though with McCain the conservatives had little or no expectation that he would do much that thrilled them, Obama on the other hand seems to have the hard lefties eagerly anticipating their vision of what “change” means. We are so polarized that it would take someone greater than Reagan to have and maintain unanimous approval over an extended period of time.

On his second day in Washington, President-elect Obama met with his budget team and promised no earmarks will be in the stimulus plan.

“We are going to ban all earmarks — the process by which individual members insert pet projects without review,” he explained. “We will create an economic recovery oversight board made up of key administration officials and independent advisors to identify problems early and make sure we are doing all we can to solve it.”

So, applying the Dems economic stimulus plan to my own life, I’d need to max out all my credit cards, take a 2nd (and possibly 3rd) mortgage out on my house and as many lines of credit as I can get. Then use all that “money” to buy things that are completely worthless to my current personal situation. After doing that, I should be wealthy beyond imagination within a few short years.

    Update:

Democratic leaders hail $780B stimulus deal

A group of Democratic and Republican senators reached a tentative agreement on Friday night for a roughly $780 billion economic stimulus package. As debate continued into the evening, Democratic leaders hailed the compromise, which trimmed the nearly $900 billion Senate bill, and credited the role played by GOP Sens. Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe and Arlen Specter.

As if we’re surprised about these three RINO’s. The hope now is that they (and any other “Republicans” that vote for it) are hung out to dry, then tossed out of office at their next election.

von Humboldt (seeing a newspaper containing slanderous falsehoods against Jefferson on the President’s desk) : Why do you not have the fellow hung who dares to write these abominable lies?

Jefferson : What! hang the guardians of the public morals? No, sir, — rather would I protect the spirit of freedom which dictates even that degree of abuse. Put that paper into your pocket, my good friend, carry it with you to Europe, and when you hear any one doubt the reality of American freedom, show them that paper, and tell them where you found it.

Humboldt : But is it not shocking that virtuous characters should be defamed?

Jefferson : Let their actions refute such libels. Believe me, virtue is not long darkened by the clouds of calumny; and the temporary pain which it causes is infinitely overweighed by the safety it insures against degeneracy in the principles and conduct of public functionaries. When a man assumes a public trust, he should consider himself as public property.

I remain unconvinced. With even one Republican on board the Bill will be called “Bipartisan.” When it fails, as even Congress’ own CBO predicts, Democrats will proclaim far and wide how the failure ensued only because, being “Bipartisan,” it was watered-down by the Republicans. The Fannie/Freddy debacle is just one of many past examples of this behavior.

I suspect one reason many on the left revere the name and a perception of Thomas Jefferson is that he predates the concept of the Große Lüge, Goebbels’ “Big Lie” strategy. Here’s a quote from the OSS’ profile of Goebbels’ boss; see if it fits anyone you can think of:

“… never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.”

Sounds a lot like the U.S. Post Office whining about how e-mail and instant messaging programs are negating the need for people to send letters to their friends and families, and that the solution is for the government to get involved and put a tax on every electronic communique in order to make it fair.

Largely, we had to pay starving Shiites to stop killing our troops and to fight Al Qaeda in Iraq, a group created because we invaded Iraq in the first place, then wait until we leave before killing the minority Sunnis!

Maybe, we should have just provided “footballs” of military aid to Iran directly, and kept our sons and daughters on the hunt for Osama.

So they aren’t ignorant - they’re learned. Sort of intelligently stupid. Yeah that works. Stupid on purpose; irrespective of the facts.

You’ve got to hand it to the libbers - I don’t think there is a single instance on record, where the libbers have ever allowed a hard fact to interfere with one of their pre conceived agendas. In that, at least they’re consistent.

The fact that by Mark Steyn’s figures (that I trust - he documents his figures) the Porkulous Bill contains 93% PORK and only 7% that might be considered “stimulous”.

There is nothing on planet earth that can compare with a dedicated Marxist who is determined to remake America into a Socialist State in the face of THE FACT that in spite of the many, many attempts, there is not even one single example where socialism has ever “worked” - excepting for short term at the point of a gun (which is their only reason to seek the outlawing of firearms). In Russia over 20 million citizens were murdered trying to implement Socialism.

But, in face of the facts, the intelligently stupid, continue in their quest for their impossible Utopia.

Sorry enough, it will eventually (sooner or later) come to Americans involving themselves in a modern day civil war. To stop them from converting America into a modern day U.S.S.R.

    Well Fred,

It seems that the Bush Administration, a choice which Conservatives were willing to fix an election to put in office, surely has left this country in a mell of a hess.

At the very least, you folks certainly didn’t seem to make much of an effort to keep him from doing anything. If fact, to this day you will fight to your last illogical breath to defend his actions.

Now, you think you have a better idea. Well, the people have decided you don’t!

You can throw around all the hyperbole you like, but Clinton seems to have left America in much better shape, and the country has endured Conservative nonsense long enough.

“Sorry enough, it will eventually (sooner or later) come to Americans involving themselves in a modern day civil war.” God forbid such a thing, but should it come, Col. Custer you will be surprized at how many Indians there really are.

Mr. Wise Christian Patriot, you really need to quit inciting riot and insurrection!!

Absolutely mindknumbed kid. It was under GW’s watch of eight years that the country has gone to pot !

  • 211 R.A.M. // Feb 8, 2009 at 12:14 pm

That’s nothing ’slanted’ newsman, in less than 3 weeks under Obama, America has gone to crack.

Scrapplers, I am starting a “Obama’s ignorant quotes” in honor of e.t.. Help me show him that Obama will soon pass GWB’s gaffs in only his first few months! Here is a start:

Obama told a Portland, Oregon crowd that Iran doesn’t “pose a serious threat to us” — cluelessly arguing that “tiny countries” with small defense budgets can’t do us harm — and then promptly flip-flopped the next day, claiming, “I’ve made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave.”

Obama’s flipflops make John Kerry, and the Clintons look like Saints!

The ones that absolutely disgust me though are the ones when he “claims” to be a Christian and that he is against “the killing of innocent life”, then signs Executive Orders overturning bans on giving tax dollars to fund other nations abortions and to sign the Freedom of Choice Act making abortions legal for ANY REASON!

Pitiful!!! GOD has a place in hell for Obama, AND his defenders), unless they REPENT!

That is when you will experience real ‘Global Warming’!

PS: algore needs to be banned from ALL grade schools and to keep his lying mouth shut. That or sued for telling our children to not listen to their parents but only to him or other ‘misguided’ libs!

  • 212 Newsman // Feb 8, 2009 at 1:03 pm

Gee RAM, you say “in less than 3 weeks under Obama, America has gone to crack.” I hadn’t noticed that all was so peachy keen under GWB’s eight years running the show, and neither did some 3000+ of our young men in Iraq now quite dead, nevermind the 30,000 plus now minus arms, legs and other bodily parts, all for the sake of WMDs that weren’t there and a countryside with no Al Quaeda to be found prior to GW’s “well planned” invasion. So well planned that some 4 plus years later the place still is all screwed up ! And zillions of our dollars have gone down an open muslim sewer.

Meanwhile things are going to pot in Afghanistan, which is where all our military effort should have been expended since the get go after 9/11 ! That is where the real enemy always has been located ! Now we are short of the military manpower that is really needed to do the job there ! And our equipment is falling apart. Nice show GW !

50 MILLION dead babies probably want to know why “Barry” wants even more of them dead newsman. They, (unlike our brave soldiers), didn’t sign up to risk their lives, like our troops did.

Why don’t people like YOU let our troops and the family’s of the ones who died fighting an enemy, (who’s side libs take), speak for them?

“Barry’s” not providing a VALID birth certificate can NOW be challenged in court since he is deploying more troops to Afghanistan. All it will take is any soldier, (ordered deployed by Barry, that now has standing), to ask he PROVE he is not a usurper.

Before, it was thrown out because of that reason.

Not anymore. Say goodbye to your idol/messiah!

  • 214 R.A.M. // Feb 8, 2009 at 1:27 pm

Maybe you libs will come back, (after one of the terrorists that Obama releases then attacks America and kills hundreds, thousands, or God forbid, MILLIONS), and defend Barry/messiah then?

If ANY of you were actually in the military, was the oath you took to defend this Country, “Just Words”, (as Obama says), or is it that you are now on the “side of the world”, as REAL American Patriot’s suspect?

Nevermind, it is a trick question.

    from The Foundry (Blog.Heritage.org)

” Defending his plan, Obama told Democrats: ‘(We) are not going to get relief by turning back to the same politicies that for the last eight years doubled the national debt and threw our economy into a tailspin.”… Seriously, where has Obama been th elast eight years?

“What does he think got us into this mess? Where does he think those deficits came from?…

“After eight years under President Bush, the federal government is taking in $400 billion more a year in revenue…

“In 2000 the federal government spent just $1.8 trillion. Now the CBO estimates that the feds will spend almost double that, $3,5 trillion, in 2009 (and that does not inclue Obama’s Trillion Dollar Debt Plan).

“Combining the increased $400 billion in revenue with the $1.7 trillion increase in spending, we see that the mountains of debt Obama is whining about inheriting all came from massive increases in federal spending.

“It was borrowing and spending that got us into this mess. Obama’s Trillion Dollar Debt Plan is not a ‘change from Bush; it is Bushonomics on steroids.”
    ***
I do not believe that you will find any conservative Republican who thought that Bush is/was fiscally conservative.

A huge portion of the budget grew in entitlement programs as Bush reached out in bipartisanship. The expansion of Medicare Part D and provisions in No Child Left Behind were the handiwork of Democrat imput, especially Ted Kennedy’s. Education, SCHIP programs, and veterans’ funding grew under Bush. However, because it did not mushroom as much as the Dems preferred, the party of perpetual whiners claimed that these were cuts.

Democrats took the majority in Congress since the 2006 elections. Congress controls the purse strings.

Now take a look at the point when the economy began to tank. Add in the overleveraged investment shenanigans with bundled mortgage packages, and the bubble was inevitably going to burst. Between the do-goodism of the Community Re-Investment Act (Thank you, Carter and Clinton) , the aggressiveness of ACORN in forcing banks to provide mortgages that at any sane time in the housing industry would have been redlined, and the crookedness of Raines, Gorelick, Frank, Dodd, and Johnston: Voila! Collapsed credit and economy.

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Bill is not a stimulus bill. Very little is dedicated toward the creation of jobs, and many of those are time-limited. This Porkulous Pig Fest is political payback and income redistribution.

The money to pay for this nonsense will be borrowed (probably from China) so that the working poor will buy more junk (probably produced in China). The money given as rebates will not stimulate our economy to grow it through savings or investment. It will neither save nor create jobs. The poor do not create jobs.

More dollars will be printed; our currency will be inflated to the point of valuelessness.

Obama won the election. It’s time for him to man up and tune in to the wisdom of non-Keynesian economists and the lessons of history.
Japan learned them in the 1990s; FDR unnecessarily prolonged the Depression putting the Great in front of the word.

    ola #216 - Right on!!!

I can see as I scroll down that the “intelligently stupid (aka ‘libbers’ - aka ‘trolls’) are cluttering up ScrappleFace with what is no doubt their usual maggot infested garbage, vomiting forth from their ‘whited sepulcher’ persona. I’m so happy that I was able to break my once held habit of actually reading that filth.

I’ve often wondered why the libbers have that constant hungry look about them, coupled with a horrendously broken spirit and that twisted look about them that carries over into their writings. (sort of a perpetual wedgie from a three sizes too small thong.)

I think I’ve found the answer in the book of Proverbs:

Prov. 15:15 All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
    (hence the constant hungry look)

Prov. 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. (Since a merry heart is unknown to them; therefore comes their broken spirit.)

Since they are the afflicted and all their days are evil (sort of like Saul, en route to Damascus) Jesus made himself real to Saul and reversed his life’s program, enough so that as the Apostle Paul, he ended up writing half of the New Testament. So perhaps we can pray for our trolls, that Jesus will make himself real to them.

Of course there are sure to be some among them who like the usurper will proclaim, “But I’m a Christian already and besides that, I’m a better Christian than all you red necked conservatives.” bearing in mind that followers of Jesus do not support and promote the murder of as yet unborn babies; nor do they support and promote the lifestyle of the homosexuals.

The usurper is busy doing everything he can to deceive as many as possible, carrying out the will of his father or in the words of Jesus himself, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” (John 8:44 KJV)

America s in the time of tribulation and the day of judgement awaits all who follow after satan and/or his legion of minions. There are those who regard God’s Word (The Bible) as something akin to the Grimm’s Fairy Tales. However on judgement day, all will be made clear and according to God’s word, burning with brimstone will not be my portion.

Rev. 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
Rev. 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

There is an excellent discussion by informed folks at this thread that explains how the declining jobs numbers are not just about layoffs but the hiring freezes currently in place.

Many businesses and corporations anticipating the measures taken by the Obama administration had to adjust for their bottom line in the first quarter. They are stymied and not too optimistic about hiring if capital is not freed up.

I’ve learned a lot from the commenters postingp who actually have to make business decisions, make payrolls, and meet increasingly draconian regulations. Our lawmakers, most of whom are lawyers rather than business people, could benefit from some real world experience.

OLA said: “Japan learned them in the 1990s; FDR unnecessarily prolonged the Depression putting the Great in front of the word.”

I understand Obama’s people have been in deep discussions about what to call the catastrophe he is about to cause. They first wanted to call “IT”, the “Greatest Depression”, but when reminded he, (Obama), will, no doubt, create MUCH bigger screw ups than this, they settled for, “Greater Depression”, and are saving “Greatest” for later!

BHO, will NEVER be an FDR, JFK, or a Ronald Reagan. In fact, Jimmy Carter should be very happy because, Obama will (no doubt) take the “Worst President of ALL Time” moniker away from that moron, and probably VERY soon!

We Democrats won’t dance around the fire flagellating ourselves with every momentary twitch of Rush Limbaugh, but rather we will hold fast to what is good and true.

“[ "Those who presided over the last eight years -- the eight years that brought us to the point where we inherit trillions of dollars of deficit, an economy that's collapsing more rapidly than at any time in the last 50 years -- don't seem to me in a strong position to lecture about the lessons of history," Summers told ABC's "This Week." ] You are proud of these past eight years are ye Rammo????

So Sinclair baby how can you say trolls are saying “their usual maggot infested garbage, vomiting forth from their ‘whited sepulcher’ persona.”, when you assert that you are not reading that filth ?? Your words do not make sense ?? You only prove my point over and over and over ad infinitum.

George’s leadership in respect to the economy seems to be in the family DNA. The tail end of the old man’s reign found the economy in shambles and he didn’t know what to do about it then either !!!

Real proud about the past eight years are ye ??

So, we shall see. I do not assert that Obama and company know all the answers. There is much about this stimulus package that I don’t agree with. I think there is a degree of validity to the Republican criticism.

I do not think that the evidence shows that Obama is really listening to what some Republicans have to say.

I also do not approve of Obama loudly reminding the Republicans who won the election ! That is not a smart move on his part.

I will say that both sides seem to be having a ball throwing pork in the pie. A trait of both parties that I regard as the height of fiscal irresponsibility. Pork should be oulawed !

In #227, I thought for a minute the racist that is hiding in most of you libs was about to emerge, (monkey in a suit), but that already happened in #222 with your comments about a good man, Michael Steele.

C’mon et, tell us just what it is about Michael Steele that would make you take cheap shots at the man?

    Disgusting and quite pitiful.

PS: The analogy of Obama and Barney Fife has another similarity. Barney, (like Obama), strutted around acting and thinking he was “cool”, when BOTH look like fools, (to intelligent people), and BOTH screwed up most things, leaving others to fix the mess. :-)

  • 232 Fred Sinclair // Feb 9, 2009 at 2:55 am

I think this is a pretty neat story that bears retelling to both sides of the aisle.

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: ‘Daddy, may I ask you a question?’
DAD: ‘Yeah sure, what it is?’ replied the man.
SON: ‘Daddy, how much do you make an hour?’
DAD: ‘That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?’ the man said angrily.
SON: ‘I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?’
DAD: ‘If you must know, I make $50 an hour.’
SON: ‘Oh,’ the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: ‘Daddy, may I please borrow $25?’

The father was furious, ‘If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don’t work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.’ The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boys’ questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door. ‘Are you asleep, son?’ He asked.

‘No daddy, I’m awake,’ replied the boy.

‘I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier’ said the man. ‘It’s been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here’s the $25 you asked for.’

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. ‘Oh, thank you daddy!’ He yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

‘Why do you want more money if you already have some?’ the father grumbled.

Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,’ the little boy replied. ‘Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.’

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

It’s just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of your time with someone you love.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours.

But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

Then it was the attempted selling of a Senate seat by right-wing fundamentalists And now it’s an overt attack on the US interests in the middle east.” ABC, CBS, NBG, CNN, and the NYT picked up the lead: “It’s all a concerted attempt to reveal the President’s weakness and lack of leadereship ability” they reported in chorus. “What we need is a Russian Bailout, in which we give them $1 Billion dollars not to blockade our efforts in Afghanistan.” Stay tuned for more at eleven”

Newsman #225: Larry Summers Blames Bush!

Now, there’s a News item. What a surprise!

For several years now, one of the Dem’s main criticisms of Bush was that he was running up the deficit! Try squaring that criticism with the “stimulus package”. Some of these “Keynesians” argue that any spending will be stimulative - including throwing money out of helicopters (Google that phrase if you doubt me).

I have a very simple, straightforward criticism ; I am opposed to this nonsense because it won’t work. Lack of demand is not what’s wrong with the economy. What we lack is confidence. Throwing (borrowed) money at that problem won’t cure it.

    NEWSFLASH:

    Monday 02/09/09 01:33 PM EST
    Obama Campaigns for Stimulus Support

AP: With a crucial Senate vote on the stimulus bill looming, President Barack Obama takes his case for its approval straight to the people. Campaigning in the Midwest, Obama says that if Congress doesn’t quickly pass the measure, the nation will slip into a crisis so deep that “we may be unable to reverse” it. The president will also hold a news conference tonight.

Hey President Moron, can’t you read the POLLS, (as you were able to BEFORE you were elected)? The MAJORITY of Americans don’t trust your “Stimulus Bill” and don’t trust YOU!

That sound in the background is “Barry’s” poll numbers dropping faster than any President in history.

Maybe “O” plans on using his hypnotic powers to convince America tonight? It only works on the weak minded, or those with no mind left, as proven by e.t. :-)

O.T.: I wonder why Colin Powell has not been offered a Cabinet Post yet after being Barry’s lapdog before the election? Probably because Barry has no problem “throwing people under the bus” after he has “bled out” your usefulness to him?

“Enquiring minds” want to know , if Obama’s White House is still the “Plantation” and people like Eric Holder are Obama’s “slaves”?

Hey, Barry is only about 12% black, the rest is a mixture of Arab and white.

So President Barack H-word Obama will be sitting down to give his first prime time interview tonight to discuss the ’stick-a-fork-in-us bill’. Has anyone confirmed if this interview is with an American television network? Maybe Mr. Al Jazeera will be getting their equal time (in the interests of fairness and all).

I’ve been pondering this whole debate over earmarks in the aforementioned bill. According to Obama, an earmark is “the process by which individual members insert pet projects without review.”. Now, this all hinges upon what your definition of “is” is, so there is a lot of wiggle room here. Either all the pork in this bill was inserted by committees and not “individual members” or the pork underwent some sort of “review” before inclusion into the bill. So, if either are true, then because Obama won the election, his definition of ‘earmarks’ can trump reality. With apologies to Mel Brooks, “it’s good to be da supreme overlord”.

And in other news, Obama seems to have trouble getting to places on time. Meetings, memo-signings, public appearances and so forth. Gotta love how the ‘objective’ media spins this one. Bush was always prompt to these sorts of things, making him bland. Obama, on the other hand, makes people wait for him, which makes him exciting. *eye roll* Good news is that no matter how late Obama himself is, his ears are always on time.

On second thought the national socialist media will do everything in its power to ignore this as much as possible. Of course it’s the fault of the helicopter manufacturers for not making the door bigger to accomodate the 6′1″ Obama. And given how the media is now making a big deal about Mr. Obama’s height, one has to wonder how the 6 foot tall Bush wasn’t bashing his head on Marine One every other day. From the photographs it looks like a 6 footer has to duck at least 4 inches to get through the door.

Carter laid the foundation to our current economic woes, BJ Clinton strengthened the foundation. With Democrats in power the last two years of Bush’s Presidency they worked to prevent any weakening of the foundation by the evil republicans. Now they have the whole show in their control and they are on the verge of plunging us into financial collapse. But all through out the years conservatives (not to be confused with or associated with republicans in name only) have been warning that we are on the wrong track. We have been ignored, and forced to take the lesser of two evils in an effort to prevent as much damage as possible. These are truths that the socialists trolls that leave droppings all over this site are not even able to entertain in their minds.
It seems inevitable, the unseeing populous’ desire is for this “change” that will not bring about anything positive to our lives as American citizens. Therefore, knowing full well that my God is in complete control there is nothing left to do but to get out of their way and watch solemnly as this nation succumbs to the forces of death. This nation has forsaken the “greater good” for their own selfish desires. The “stimulus bill” has not one grain of salt in it, with what will it preserve us?

    Re: #267

Your points 1 & 2 may be moot as in San Francisco, on a special 2005 ballot, a majority (57.8% Yes to 42.2% No) voted for the government to take away their handguns. Handgun owners were to surrender their firearms (unless it was part of their work) to local police authorities by a certain date, or be subject to civil and/or criminal penalties if they did not comply. Called Proposition H, it was later overturned in the San Francisco Superior Court on the grounds that it violated California state law. So, in at least one whacked-out part of the country there are people willing to voluntarily give up their 2nd Amendment right.

I cannot find reference to it, but there was a program on either the Discovery or History Channel about the Nazis rolling through Europe. Their forces would take over small villages in the countryside along their way, and basically suck the town dry of resources. While they were there, the German officers would command that the townspeople bring their guns to the town square and surrender them. The town elders would ask why, and the commander of the German forces would explain that the war was against the government of the country and not its people, and that they didn’t want anyone acting rashly, and that it was safer for everyone involved if the guns were handed over. The town elders agreed and the guns were given up. Next, the Nazis ordered that radios be brought to the town square and turned it. Again the elders would ask why, and the Nazi commander would explain that a lot of propaganda was being put out on the radio, that was untrue and the Germans didn’t want anyone hearing and believing the lies and getting the wrong idea about what was going on and doing something that would lead to themselves (or the Germans) getting hurt. The elders thought this was wise and ordered their people to surrender their radios. Next, was newspapers and magazines. The occupying Germans would keep demanding the townspeople to give up more and more things, and every time the town elders inquired, the commanders had a plausible explanation. Soon, when the Nazis asked for things, the elders stopped asking why; even when people of Jewish descent were asked to gather in the town square by the large transport trucks.

Magazines and Newspapers? Have pretty much sworn their fealty to the Democrat Party.

Firearm ownership? Under assault, and in some cases (as mentioned above) freely given up.

Radios? “Fairness” Doctrine. (would TV and internet be far behind?)

That can’t be blamed on Bush. It counts as the “Obama crash”. With the unprecedented power of his office, Obama inherits a commensurately high level of accountability. Unless he offers something radically different, the boomerang of expectations could flatten him faster and more thoroughly than the swift ascent of his star. “Did 100% of the eligible voters vote? If my memory serves me correctly less than 70% of eligible voters voted.”

You correctly make this point once again! How do you recommend we do polling?

It is true my arithmetic and mathematics abilities are poor, and my spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills are indeed limited. Still it seems, I more often than not, manage to muddle into a conclusion that is superior to most here, with the possible exception of yourself.

I will make a prediction of my own, Barack Obama will live to become the standard by which all future presidents will be judged!

If I am correct, it shouldn’t be hard for you figure out my view of the future of those of your political persuasion.

And, Barack Obama is the sixth great grandson of my fifth great grandfather Judiah, though Ann Dunham’s line. I believe even the “servant holding” Judiah would have been exceedingly proud of this fine man.

But, of course, cousin Barack is no “muddler”!

There are countless polls out there (which the Ultra-Liberal Democrat party mistakenly thinks it has suppressed through intimidation) that give BHO a 0.00% approval rating.

I know of a poll that shows, irrefutably, that BHO’s incessantly abysmal performance, flaunting his pseudo-elitist ineptitude as it does, is to blame for his plummeting popularity points.

Polls, “smolles”, MOST of the ones libs use are conducted like AOL’s last night. You could vote for “Thumbs up” for Obama’s speech, or second choice, “Thumbs up” for Obama’s speech, or “I didn’t watch”. Of course it was just an “oversight” or a mistake, like all those “dead votes” figured into the polls for how much Homer “D’oh” Obama won by. Libs love to take polls and canvas 70% Democrat respondents to 30% Republicans, and then say it was a “bipartisan” poll.

President Moron makes another “speech” to his choir of adoring media, they ask several softball questions, then like clockwork, the stock markets take yet another dive, KNOWING what is coming!

Here is a suggestion for the INTELLIGENT here, (not intended for back patting, foolish trolls). Buy as much gold, silver, and other precious metals as you can. President Goober is about to make all that “green paper” he is printing 24/7, and stocks and bonds about worthless as an “Obama kisser”.

I say ABOUT as worthless as an “Obama kisser”, becuase NOTHING can be that worthless!

“I’ll take ‘American English’ for $800 Alex.”

“Answer. The most commonly used word on television in 2009.”

    “What is ‘Uh’?”

    “Correct.”

Re#285: “I will make a prediction of my own, Barack Obama will live to become the standard by which all future presidents will be judged!

Yes, it’s likely he’ll replace Carter in the “Well, s/he’s better than …” role.

Really a “0.00% approval rating.” Imagine that, after 2 Million people came to see his Inauguration less than three weeks ago.

I can’t bring my to believe this, can you?

Do anyone look in on you? Do you have a pet squirrel, or other rodent?

You do need to get out some.

Poor man-child “the usurper” it seems that his very high approval rating has dropped to 58%, and is still dropping, while “he who must not be listened to” aka Rush Limbaugh is holding firm with an approval rating of 62%

Awhile back when President Bush was being beat up on for having an approval rating of only 27% while those doing the beating up (Congress) held an approval rating of 9%. There seems to be a pattern somewhere (3-1)
. Perhaps the libbers have overplayed their hand?

    Re: 285

My recommendation would be that they stop polling altogether. I certainly don’t expect anybody to take my suggestion seriously, but I offer it nontheless.

I believe that there was a time when polling was done to judge or ascertain the public opinion or mood. Now, however, it seems that most polling is done to sway or push public opinion. In like manner with modern day “journalism” I believe polling has lost its integrity and has become little more than sounding boards, echo chambers and advocates for the dominant ideology. It has lost its soul.

As for getting the election right… well, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every so often.

    Regards,

ps - It is my opinion, although I suspect it is shared by many, that the polling that isn’t done simply to support the dominant ideology, is done to let politicians know what they (politicians) believe.

    Egospeak,

I understand your suspicion. It seems related to the whole MSM bias issue. I really don’t have any problem with the Rasmussen Poll, I just hate to yield in the slightest to the “Beetle-Headed Frog Bender”.

I think Fox News is baked, and so is MSNBC in the other direction. Of course, I agree with MSNBC, but truth be told, I too lean somewhat left myself. Do try not to be shocked by my admission.

I think the more the Republican Party moves to the right, the more everything not extreme right, appears left to the “hard core” here.

These folks seem to think they are the keepers of all that is good. Anyone who does not share their belief is evil, the “they are either with us or they are against us” attitude prevails through out the conservative movement.

By the same measure they insist that any position to the left of theirs is communist, or at least socialist. It really makes little difference which, because most of them don’t understand the difference anyway.

I also believe the religious differences here are a real problem for conservatives. For the most part, the only thing that binds these “Christians” is the abortion issue, if Roe v Wade were reversed, and the feminists, privacy and civil rights folks were to let them have there way, they would soon be killing each other. In fact, if these folks were honest these religious factions don’t respect each other anymore than they respect Democrats!

“….and to the Republic for which it stands….” Now at age 71, I’ve never, ever pledged allegiance to any form of Socialism. Snide politicians are attempting to surreptitiously insert their Socialist agenda in the dark recesses of this monstrous spending bill which is nothing more than the first steps toward full-on health care socialism. I do not want America to morph into another version of North Korea, North Viet Nam or Cuba!

Ronald Reagan did not become one of America’s greatest Presidents by way of a Socialist agenda. His re-election sweep of 49 of 50 states was based on his conservatism. The current stimulus bill is anything but a stimulus. Porkulus Bill would at least be an honest name for this abomination.

  • 295 everthink // Feb 11, 2009 at 3:20 pm

‘Ronald Reagan did not become one of America’s greatest Presidents by way of a Socialist agenda.”

He certainly did not, but then he was not one of America’s greatest Presidents either!!

His “voodoo economics” called “Reaganomics” is principally to blame for the crisis facing America now!

Greed is not as much a worthy motivator of productivity, as it is an incentive to win at all cost, including cheating and stealing.

All those financial houses in trouble today, were able to do so as a result of the government deregulation advocated by Reagan!

Remember the S&L crisis and The Resolution Trust Corporation? How about “The Keating Five”? They all started as a result of the deregulation that allowed S&L’s to play banker!

And how about Iran Contra! Reagan seemed like a nice old misguided fellow, who took too many naps, and forgot who was the puppeteer in his administration!

Won the Cold War? Really, look again. The Soviet Union collapsed of it’s own weight, and because of a completely unworkable form of government and economic system.

Don’t try to “trickle down” on my leg and tell me it’s raining!

    Now ain’t dat jus speshule???

    Media Ownership Reform Act (MORA)

The Media Ownership Reform Act seeks to restore integrity and diversity to America’s media system. The bill also reinstates the Fairness Doctrine to protect fairness and accuracy in journalism.

Amazingly the “Fairness Doctrine” bears exactly the same relationship to fairness that the “Stimulus Bill” bears to stimulus. ie: none

I read somewhere that 1.) You can fool all of the people some of the time. 2.) You can fool some of the people all of the time. 3.) But you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.

A basic truth and 58 million Americans, last Nov. 4th voted against Socialism in the form of a usurper who now occupies the “Oval Office”. To date I’ve not seen a valid original birth certificate - so this individual (1/12th African and 11/12th Caucasian, and Arab, most likely born in Kenya (as sworn to by his aunt who claims to have been present at his birth in Kenya).

But enough of the people were fooled that when his(? written by Nancy Pelosi) Stimulus Bill is passed into law, America will no longer be a Republic or even a Democracy, but a Socialist country spiraling down to take it’s place as a new third (3rd) world country - ala Cuba?

Perhaps as America is busily following after false gods. The Lord God sees us as a modern day Nineveh, but except for Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and a rare few of his stripe, I don’t see a modern day Jonah on the horizon to call America to repent and turn from it’s wicked ways.

May God have mercy on America and “Come quickly Lord Jesus”.

    c-a-t reminded me

Hab. 1:3 Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention.
Hab. 1:4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.
Hab. 1:5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.

That’s about the sum of it. I can only hope and pray that I will be allowed to live long enough to witness what He has in store for “He, who is the absence of God” before and/or after he exits the Oval Office.

Every football team has their own special playbook, even “The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame” has one.

A melding of five playbooks? = B. Hussein Obama’s Playbook = Obama’s Dream for America???

    1.) Karl Marx’s Playbook.

    2.) Joseph Stalin’s Playbook

    3.) Fidel Castro’s Playbook

    4.) Robert Mugabe’s Playbook

    5.) Hugo Chavez’s Playbook
