2:15 p.m. ? It’ll be done by then. C’mon Scott, they aren’t giving you the important anchor jobs yet?

By the way HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERYONE!!!

Scott, thanks to you and PJTV for avoiding the temptation to review the Obama Presidency during the initial “honeymoon” period. By 2:15 we ought to have had time to develop some history in terms of sea levels dropping, the lame walking and the blind, especially his supporters, learning to see.

I look forward to the show, which I understand has been tentatively titled “Obama — 135 Minutes Which Shook The World.”

Scott, I am looking forward to your report, as I didn’t watch anything. I turned on the TV and it said that the upcoming show was “As My Stomach Churns” and I decided to honor my 20 year pact not to watch another soap opera. I’ll just wait for your humorous synopsis. :-)

To treat Barack Hussein Obama fairly (as liberals have defined the term by their actions the last seven years), he should be treated with precisely the same disrespect, lack of charity, lack of benefit of the doubt, and questioning of motives the liberals recklessly engaged in with respect to President Bush. The one difference being, unlike liberal Donks conservatives won’t have to subject Mr. Obama to moonbat conspiracy theories or baseless calumnies - the unvarnished truth will suffice.

Oh, btw, the allegedly smartest and most articulate man to occupy the Presidency totally flubbed and massacred the oath of office. If this is any indication of how he’ll discharge his duties as the empty suit that he is, Amerika is in for some troubling times.

Can you imagine the howls of laughter and months of derision the whackjobs on the left would engage in if George W. had done the same thing to the oath of office? But don’t worry, the national socialist media will drop this one like a hot potato so the left won’t have to trouble itself with the very public foibles of The One.

  • 6 Darthmeister // Jan 20, 2009 at 7:47 pm

Battered Liberal Syndrome? Buwhahahaha! You can’t make this stuff up … but the kook Robert Shrum shamelessly manages to do so!

Read the comment section. The vast majority of posters get it right … liberals are perpetual victims and Shrum loses his argument in the first sentence with the utter bilge that “Bush stole the 2000 elections.”

  • 8 Darthmeister // Jan 21, 2009 at 9:54 am

LC-RM, I personally find battered liberals too fattening and the incessant whining noise they make as they fry in Criscoâ„¢ the crucible of reality gets rather annoying. Ruins the whole life experience, ya know.

Well, it looks like the Obamarx Administration is making good on its promise of more change:

U.S. Stocks Slide in Dow Average’s Worst Inauguration Day Drop

I fear this is just the tip of the iceberg that no amount of global warming is going to be able to melt.

BTW, the libtard national socialist media outlets are only playing the last half of Obamarx’s oath of office. My question is this, as badly as he mangled the oath is it tantamount to him having his fingers crossed behind is back? Just asking.

Re#5: “[Obama] should be treated with precisely the same disrespect, lack of charity, lack of benefit of the doubt, and questioning of motives the liberals recklessly engaged in with respect to President Bush.

I have to disagree. One of the many great things our last real President accomplished was to clearly identify “the soft bigotry of low expectations,” the besetting sin of the Democrat / liberal elite. However, Republicans and conservatives have long engaged in what may be an even more insidious form of prejudice, that of expecting liberals to act like reasoning adults even in the face of undeniable evidence to the contrary.

Adults don’t mock children who misbehave; rather, while recognizing their limited faculties we must encourage them to “put away childish things” and help them, to whatever extent we and they are able, toward responsible and mature behavior. That some learn slowly and some not at all is unfortunate, but no excuse for abandoning them, and certainly not for mimicking their immature misbehavior.

  • 11 Just Ranting // Jan 21, 2009 at 12:48 pm

Gotta say I was unimpressed with his innaugural speech. His calls for unity fell hollow as he suggested that he is inheriting an unprecedented disaster which only he will be able to fix. It seems as a member on the Senate he might have taken some pre-emptive steps already to fix the problems; lack of financial oversight ( a congressional pervue) was in their control and was ignored except by Republicans who warned Fannie and Freddie would collapse. He is in a position where he will no longer be able to vote “present”. Rhetoric will need to be fleshed by policy. I fear he may replace Jimmy Carter as the worst president in my lifetime.

  • 12 Just Ranting // Jan 21, 2009 at 12:57 pm

BTW, who are the near-sighted pundits who proclaim this the worst economy since the Great Depression. I lived through the 70s with odd/even gas lines, double digit mortgage rates, and near double digit umemployment. Jimmy Carter is without question the worst president of the last century. He lacked vision and saw America in decline, “malaise” was his term. It took the dynamism and vision of Reagan to bring us out of those dark days with his unbridled optimism and sound economic policies.

God bless Geo. W Bush. He kept us safe since 9-11-01. I didn’t always agree with him, but he made his decisions based on sound reasoning and prayerful council, not on the sways of the daily polls. May his remaining days be filled with peace.

Well said Just Ranting Re#12. Jimmy Catarrh was a stunningly incompetent executive, even for a Democrat. In a weird way the Catarrh years offer a degree of hope by demonstrating the depths from which the United States can recover.

Unfortunately, in a few years the Catarrh economy may seem like a hopelessly optimistic goal …

I posted this on the last thread, BEFORE I knew there was a new thread. I really feel the hypocrite trolls need to see it. Maybe, (just maybe), they will have enough intelligence left to see what others do about the inane rhetoric they speak?

I would like to say that libs, (the trolls here), are simple hypocrites, but when they say something of this monumental stupidity, (statement is forthcoming). then they are simply the brain-dead, mind controlled lemmings, that we now see MOST, of the dimocratic party has become!

Are you ready for the libs new mantra that I heard a dozen times yesterday?

Here it is, “Obama is president now, so GET OVER IT!”

I guess people with itsey bitsey, puny brains, destroyed by too much alcohol and drugs don’t realize, (as evidenced by the above troll posts), that they are telling us to do something that after 8 years, they CANNOT do themselves!

Their non-”annointed” new leader will be a carbon copy of them, or vise-versa!

I would say to you brain dead libs, get ready for non stop bashing of this faux administration, every time they mess up, (which will be often), because we, (or at least I), will not forget the foul, vile things you have, (and continue to say), against a decent man, even if he did make some errors.

I ask GOD to help me NOT make it personal, (as the filthy left did/does, and on display here with the lib trolls), but I WILL take GREAT pleasure in pointing out EVERY misstep Obama and the lib Congress makes that hurts America during his hopefully short tenure!

Here’s to the first LEGITIMATE black President, Condolezza Rice!

    The Media Lied, People Died

Whatever partisan spin the barking moonbats want to put on reality, Kengor gets the historical timeline absolutely correct about the media and their reporting of WMD in Iraq before Bush even became President. It’s another liberal myth that the media was heavily influenced by President Bush’s alleged propaganda war.

As we’ve noted here before, while George W. Bush was Governor of Texas, the American intelligence community, the Clinton Administration, leading Democrats and the liberal media were ALL saying (even up to inauguration day 2001) that there was irrefutable evidence Saddam Hussein still had WMD. Saddam’s actions alone in not allowing UNSCOM inspectors access to sensitive storage sites throughout Iraq only confirmed this mindset.

Also, the October 2002 Joint Congressional Resolution for the use of American force in Iraq makes it pretty plain the war wasn’t just about WMD … another liberal myth. Notice, too, when WMD are spoken of in the October 2002 JCR they are spoke of in the past tense. Something that braindead liberals have yet to understand about the latent threat posed by Saddam and his regime. And the Democrat leaders who tried to claim Bush had “cherrypicked” the intelligence, this too is an outright lie when one considers most of the Donks didn’t even reexamine the intelligence because they thought they already knew everything they needed to know to vote for the resolution.

This view is further corroborated by their comments during the previous Clinton Administration that in unambiguous terms accused Saddam of being a threat to his neighbors and the free world and that he was till hiding WMDs from UNSCOM inspectors.

Despite their subsequent pusillanimity, the Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee had the same access to raw intelligence that the President did. So the whole “cherrypicked” bilge is just another clever liberal lie that provides CYA for Democrats like Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Jay Rockefeller, et al.

BTW, despite Democrats’ claims to the contrary, when they signed that Joint Congressional Resolution, they indeed authorized President Bush to use American force in Iraq. Read the document:

    SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This joint resolution may be cited as the `Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002′.

… SEC. 3. AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES.

    (a) AUTHORIZATION- The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to-

    (1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and

    (2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq.

Once again clear documentary evidence proves liberal Democrats to be the liars, not President Bush.

  • 16 onlineanalyst // Jan 21, 2009 at 4:34 pm

Keep your eye on Nancy Pelosi. She intends to tell Obama exactly how to execute his office, according to a recent Politico story.

The minister who gave the benediction during the inauguration offered up a prayer(?) that was so divisive that it probably set back racial harmony for many. With its ghetto-ese rhymes of bitterness, which I understand came from Malcolm X, the Rev. Lowery engendered laughter in the audience. The man is stuck in the grievances of the ’50’s and ’60’s, and offered a less-than-solemn ending to a significant occasion.

The “poet” offered drivel of no consequence.

I am a believer in the inherent liberties of the individual. As such, I will do all in my individual power to criticize and defeat the Obama-Pelosi-Reid axis to genuflect to the collective State.

In the words of Lowery, “Can I hear you say,’Amen’?”

Heh! My WV is “fools-beeline”. Was that descriptive of our favorite spoilers in the Scrappleface community?

  • 17 gafisher // Jan 21, 2009 at 4:37 pm

RAM Re#14: Although the details are characteristically hard to pin down, it appears President Rice is still in Office. First, Obama is Constitutionally excluded from the Presidency unless and until he retakes the Oath of Office, the precise wording of which must be followed.

Second, that Oath, along with any Executive Orders or other “Official” acts he might attempt, cannot take effect until (and again unless) questions of his legitimacy as a natural born citizen are cleared up.

Moonbats notwithstanding, these two Constitutional requirements must be met before the Obama Presidency can be considered effective; until then, with the former President and Vice President gone, former Secretary of State Rice is legally our President.

The Chief Justice gave the oath without notes and HE flubbed it! Obama graciously gave pause so he could correct himself. Regardless, it was a very human moment.

    Stop drinking the Haterade!

  • 23 gafisher // Jan 21, 2009 at 6:29 pm

JCM, you’re correct that Chief Justice Roberts slipped first, and that former Senator Obama paused in what to all appearances was a gracious manner. However, it is what the President-Elect says, not what the Chief Justice says, that matters, and unfortunately, for whatever reason, Obama did not recite the required Oath.

This has happened before — both Calvin Coolidge and Chester A. Arthur had to repeat the Oath later due to minor “flubs” during their inaugural ceremonies. But until that’s done, Obama is not the President.

  • 24 everthink // Jan 21, 2009 at 6:44 pm

  • 27 Darthmeister // Jan 21, 2009 at 11:48 pm

However you want to spin it, Cougar, but please start dealing with reality. It was Obama who first talked over Roberts giving the oath of office, that’s what set everything else in motion.

BTW, given how smart and experience The One is one wouldn’t think it would be that hard for Mr. Obama to simply repeat back what he’s hearing from the person administering a rather simple oath, right Cougie? But then Mr. Obama wasn’t using a teleprompter either. I find it amusing you hypocrites are already making excuses for your messiah because you know in your own heart of hearts that if George W. had flubbed the oath of office you would be calling Bush dumbya, retarded, stupid and an inarticulate chimp … something we’ve never said about Mr. Obama even in this instance. So stuff your self-righteous posturing, Couggie.

BTW, at my wedding the minister flubbed a line by rearranging a few words and I flawlessly repeated it back to him before the congregation. It can be done but I have to admit that in Mr. Obama’s case he was probably both nervous and without his teleprompter.

Obama retakes oath of office after flubbing it

I guess you think Obama should have “gotten over it” too and not bothered with retaking the oath, eh? Seems like he knew the importance of getting the oath right - something you trolls can’t appreciate because of your blind hatred toward us.

I merely made a correct observation that OBAMA FLUBBED the oath (whether Roberts did or not is irrelevant) and there was a real question whether the first oath was sufficient. Of course my humor about the situation probably went right over your pointy little heads, right Couggie?

At least Mr. Obama had the good graces to admit HIS mutual mistake in the matter and repeat the oath word-for-word. And given how this whole affair turned out good graces is obviously something that insufferable twits like you lack. When all was said and done regarding the flubbing of the oath of office, it looks like you’re the one swilling the Haterade, Couggie. I got it right, not you and those swilling the kool-aid on the left-wing blogs.

  • 28 everthink // Jan 22, 2009 at 12:12 am

“The One is one wouldn’t think it would be that hard for Mr. Obama to simply repeat back what he’s hearing from the person administering a rather simple oath, right Cougie?”

    What does this mean?

President Obama did repeat back what he was hearing, that was the problem! It was Justice Robert that misstated the oath.

You are getting worse, are taking your meds?

    ET

  • 29 Darthmeister // Jan 22, 2009 at 12:15 am

After reading neverthinks stupid post, I guess he must think Mr. Obama is crazy for having repeated the oath of office because “he actually thought it made a difference.” Well, apparently Mr. Obama did think it made a difference. I just wish Mr. Obama had also thought releasing a certified copy of his vault birth record to establish his credentials as a true “natural born citizen” was just as constitutionally important. And how many times did the liberals accuse President Bush merely on the basis of policy differences of “not following the Constitution”? Too many to count.

So what we Scrapplers can take away from this is apparently Republicans/conservatives must be subjected to what Democrats/liberals feel the Constitution might imply while they in turn can conveniently ignore what the Constitution explicitly says about “natural born citizens”, gun rights, limited federal powers, states’ rights, etc. Such is the cognitive dissonance among our feral population of whining trolls.

Can you imagine the utter outrage and excoriation we would receive if conservatives gushed over ANY of their candidates in this manner? The thought that Mr. Obama is Joshua or Moses or even an Apostle is not only a fantastic leap in logic but politically ludicrous. This kind of stuff is dangerous and borders on cultic. This certainly doesn’t bode well for our republic.

  • 33 Darthmeister // Jan 22, 2009 at 8:34 am

RAM, agreed. I saw an interview where Mr. Obama doesn’t duck his own nervous culpability in the matter and in fact was saying the good justice was trying to help him out. The fact that he retook the oath satisfies me and closes out this little kerfuffle. But with Biden and other liberals bashing Justice Roberts, that much is rather disgusting and partisan and demonstrates yet another chapter in their hateful derangement which apparently now hinges on their very defensive deification of Mr. Obama.

  • 34 gafisher // Jan 22, 2009 at 10:32 am
