Obama Declines GOP Request to Redistribute Votes

(2008-11-05) — President-elect Barack Obama today politely declined a request from the Republican National Committee to “redistribute the votes” from yesterday’s Congressional contests in order to “spread the power around.”

“It’s not that we want to punish your success,” wrote RNC chairman Mike Duncan. “We just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you has a chance for success too. Our attitude is that if the election’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … when you spread the power around, it’s good for everybody.”

In a brief written reply to the GOP, Mr. Obama said, “Our Democrat candidates worked hard for those votes, and it would be a gross injustice to take what they earned by the sweat of their brows and to give it to others who, for whatever reason, did not succeed.”

“The electoral process,” wrote Mr. Obama, “allows a person from any background to work hard, to build a strong organization, to raise investment capital and to take the personal risk that is the necessary precursor to any successful venture. When they do that well, and they win, the benefits ripple outward to many others.”

The 44th president of the United States added, “If you redistribute their hard-earned votes to those less capable, to those who played it safe or who turned in a half-hearted performance, then you remove incentive from the system. In the end, when you aim for equality of outcomes in a particular arena, you inevitably wind up with mediocrity, because men of excellence and ambition will go elsewhere to satisfy their longing for dignity, self-sacrifice and honor.”

    To call me cranky this morning would be an understatement. I watched the MSM lie, cheat, and steal the future of our country for a criminal socialist’s agenda. I am not amused. I watched the Black Panthers pacing with their clubs in front of polling places in Philadelphia, I heard morons brag to CNN about voting several times in spite of the long wait, Military votes not being counted, the whole day disgusts me.

    In less than two years we will see change. I will bet that, like Carter, this slick add campaign and media love child will embarrass us completely. With Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid firmly in control of the house and senate they will only get away with blaming Bush for awhile. Then the sheep that voted for “Change” will start demanding it. The green glasses will come off and the man behind the curtain will be exposed.

    Around here the lay offs will start soon. Small businesses are already pruning the dead wood from their rosters in preparation for the coming tax hikes. New equipment and upgrades are being shelved. The company I used to work for was already considering closing the plant and moving it to Mexico for tax shelter and cheaper labor. 200 jobs are leaving the state before the end of the year from another plant up north for the same reason. The 800 people still employed there should start looking now. Obama is going to choke the goose and try to tax these folks and they know it.

    The union fools that voted for him and Tom Harkin are in for a surprise too when their taxes go up. Bush tax cuts are due to expire in 2010. With Pelosi, Reid, and Obama in they will likely repeal them early like they promised. That means union paychecks will go down eating the cola raise they get. While they still have the jobs that is.

    Buy stock in Tums. Rolaids are good. Pepsid AC and Excedrin, I’m using one or more of these products at the moment and I am in a foul mood.

    I don’t think “redistributing” the vote will help since the currency exchanges are different. Besides, ACORNs don’t fall very far from the tree.

    My compliments to those on the other side of the aisle for electing one of the most unaccomplished, inexperienced con man to the White House. I just hope we all don’t pay a far bigger price than we can imagine for such a folly. But I guess there still is a certain honor to having been elected the first Messiah of the United States (MOTUS) - you know, rainbows and pretty flowers and all that.

    BTW, has the national socialist media gotten any video footage of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Taliban, al Qaeda, al- Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, and the Iranian mullahs celebrating in the streets?

    Maybe that footage will be safely stored away like the “bankrupt the coal industry” footage - you know, for future historians.

    I posted this on the last thread, but Scott is Quick Draw McGraw so I think that I will repost it here:

But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

    And that is what it is all about dear ones - bearing fruit. No matter how many mouths we feed or backs we cloth or hands we cross with money, if we are not spreading the gospel and telling people the salvation in Christ and the ‘hope and change’ of the Savior, we are simply helping to send to hell, well-fed and well-dressed people. So stand tall and face today with Book in hand and your defense on your lips and praise God that He is on His throne and knows EXACTLY what he is doing!

    Any small business (plumbing or other) that declares a profit of $250,000 in a year had better invest in some better accountants.
    Does anyone here know any small business owners? If they turn any profit at all they fire their current accountant and get someone better at disguising income.

    The Lord says regarding the earth:

    The sun has again risen this morning, and still “His mercies are new”.

    Our sovereign Savior still sits at the Right Hand of the Majesty on High, reigning, and causing all things to work for the good of His loved ones.

    Could it be that He plans that this new environment will conspire for our increased spiritual prosperity, and an increased traction for the gospel? Surely, He’s designed it for His glory.

    What a privilege it is to head out this morning into our Father’s world, under our elder Brother’s eye!

    Well, say it ain’t so Joe! Alas, we did not get what we were hoping for. As for all the things that will/may happen under the new administration, all I can say is I will be adding our country to the list of things that I will be praying about. I truely hope that this election doesn’t drive even more of a wadge between the right and the left since, as is required by the constitution, we must all abide by the decision of the majority. This is still the greatest country that has ever existed and, I believe, will allways be the greatest.

    A special note to those responders that have been poking us in the side about who would win: Please show your restraint and do your gloating without getting too personal.

    We should all look to the future too see what needs to be done and, roll up our sleeves, hitch up our britches, and get to work on saving America.

    Congrats BO now please don’t screw it up.

    BTW did anyone notice that last night there were “close to 300,000 peeple there to here BO and then this morning it was 200,000 then 150,000 and 125,000 Should have been easy to figure out how many were really there - just count arms and legs and devide by 4 . (obscure reference to an acient joke) LOL (?)

    Obama last night declared that he would not be able to fulfil his promises for change in just 4 years. So the next 4 years he will be voting present as a President while he works on his reelection campaign.

    I kid you not, driving the kids to work today I heard all this screaming. I didn’t think much of it, then this car full of blacks drove up next to me with their windows down screaming OBAMA OBAMA… nice.

    When Bush won, within seconds there was the voter fraud schreetch. And yet this year, nothing. It’s all so great that we have had our first fair election in 8 years, how did ACORN do it?

    So today, November 5th, we have a new fight on our hand. The man from someplace, somewhere, of which we still don’t know, is president. Kenya news feed showed the people celebrating the man from Kenya who has become president.

    I still don’t know if this is the first African-American to be president or the man with a mixed marriage to become president. He has no slavery in his past-and what little we know about the man, we know there is more Muslim history than slavery.

    Now we must fight to retain conservative policies. To scream out loud the two faced policies he makes and to publish the agony of the people who still must pay their mortgage and put gas in their car. Sadly, their will be many who will cry in despair when Obama can’t stand at the gas station and fill their tanks.

    We must call out to Americans who can’t afford to heat their houses because Barrack will stop fossil fuel energy from being developed. We must remind them about economics.

    The Democrats have made their point that the elections were ripped from their hands eight years ago. Now in return they took foriegn and mid-eastern blood money and outspent the Republicans by a huge margin inorder to show that they too, can steal an election.

    Last night was payback for the angry left.

    I fought the fight. I went to the streets. I talked one on one with my black friends and waffling Republicans as well. I took my thoughts to the streets as a silent protester and picketed OB1’s Hollywood puppets. I have been called every name possible to my face. I worked 14 hours yesterday in order to help illegal activities from being slammed on OUR polling place.

    Now it is time to rest a little then get back to speed. My body is a little tired. But tomorrow is a new day. Hang tough everyone. America is still on the map.

    Wow! What a great article to illustrate the hypocrisy of the “fair-minded, can’t-we-just-share-the-wealth” left.

    Reminds me of this novelty coin bank that had two slots; one marked “His” and the other “Hers”. A coin dropped in the “Hers” fell directly into a reservoir which could be opened to retrieve the coins after it got full. A coin dropped into the “His” slot rolled down a ramp and over into “Hers” reservoir. The moral of the story was written on the back side of the bank, “What’s Hers is Hers and what’s His is Hers”. In this case, “What’s theirs [Dems] is theirs, and what’s yours is theirs”.

    I’m going to need a bigger mattress for all the money I’m going to need to stuff into it. Think Tempur-pedic or Select Comfort make a tri-fold wallet/bed?

    JR: I have the loveliest framed calligraphy/artwork of the Philippians 4:8 verse on the wall in my bedroom. Thanks for reminding me why I bought it so many years ago. It is important to keep our eyes on the bigger prize, for it has lasting value.

    UNL: Your question (#24) reminds me of the old joke ending “up with which I will not put”. I cannot remember the whole joke though. Actually “give up” is an idiom of two words meaning “to surrender”. The “up” in that phrase is not a preposition, as such.

    I had an intriguing conversation yesterday with two people outside our local GOP HQ, where I was calling the registered voters on our roles to remind them to vote. I stepped out to take a break and began chatting with these two, sitting on a nearby stoop.

    When they saw my Palin campaign pin, they started listing their talking points (all gleaned from television’s misconstruals, no doubt) about her and McCain’s negatives: “We’ll be in Iraq for 100 years”: “McCain’s wife is a drug addict who steals”; “Palin kills animals,” etc. I just listened, offering some mild corrections or elaborations to the record when necessary. They decided that I was “nice…for a Republican.”

    I asked the 20-ish, 30-ish young man and woman why they voted for Obama and why they felt that he would be a good president. Their answer? He is “more honest.” They offered no evidence of this “honesty” I asked them how “trickle up economics” works and if they knew any poor people who created jobs. The teaching moment to contradict their claims was past, in that they had already voted. The experience was so sad when I realized that some common sense discussion and education beforehand might have made them think twice before voting for Obama.

    Our media owes a huge debt to Americans for not properly vetting Obama and exposing his contradictions, his lies, the extent of his questionable relationships, and the holes in his biography. The media hoodwinked half of our nation into using their emotions and not their brains.

    No. Sadly, it’s a hollow victory. I’m already looking forward to the next Black President. I have faith that next time, she or he will reach the highest office in the land after rising from a heritage of slavery.

    Obama may be Black, but he is a transplant. One small step at a time, I guess.

    Perhaps now the Republican party will take people like Alan Keyes more seriously.

    I like Alan Keyes and would have voted for him in a heart-beat over Obama. However, I would prefer Thomas Sowell over Keyes.

    I would have even liked to see Colin Powell run. I was not too happy about his endorsement of Obama, but then if he was running on the Republican ticket, he wouldn’t have endorsed Obama… :smile:

    For those of us who have friends or family members who insisted that Obama was not pro-abortion as they happily voted for him, Obama didn’t even wait a single day before making his first pro-abortion appointment. More to come! Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, who has a 0 percent pro-life voting record.

    It would seem that the vast legions of liberal illuminati have again made sure that one of their own is in office. Of course, he also has honorary cabinet members in the offices of ABC, NBC, and CBS making sure that the leftist agenda is carried out.
