McCain Backs Colin Powell’s Obama Endorsement

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 94 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2008-10-22) — Sen. John McCain today shocked reporters aboard the ‘Straight Talk Express’ by backing former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s recent endorsement of his presidential rival, Barack Obama.

In a move a McCain aide called, “self-sacrificial, but the best long-term strategy for Republican dominance,” the Arizona senator said he decided to join his fellow Republican in supporting the liberal Democrat for the same reason Mr. Powell did — because Sen. Obama is pro-choice.

“If you can’t beat ‘em, help ‘em beat themselves,” said Sen. McCain. “Obama’s eager support of abortion, up to and beyond the moment of birth, will help to rapidly deplete the ranks of Democrats, while we Republicans continue to be fruitful and multiply.”

Sen. McCain noted that since black babies get aborted almost four times as often as white babies, and blacks are 10 times more likely to vote Democrat than Republican, “one of the best long-term strategies for reducing the Democrat electoral base is by attrition through abortion.”

In addition, about half of abortions are performed on lower income women, a group twice as likely to register Democrat as Republican.

“I’ve never been able to figure out these Democrats,” Sen. McCain added. “On the one hand, they give millions to ACORN to register voters. Then they turn around and pump millions more into Planned Parenthood to boost abortions among their core constituency. You’d call it genocide if they weren’t doing it to themselves, but since they are, I guess you call it democide.”

As I type, Sarah is just a few miles (10) down the road speaking along with John and his lovely wife. Sadly, because of rides and my power chair I couldn't get there.

But the radio is smiling back at me now as a live broadcast is taking place.

If more well off white folks were clamoring for black babies I’m certain that adoption would be an attractive option.

“Democide” is evil too, even if it benefits republicans at the polls.

    MNK,

Lady Palin? Are you suggesting she’s some kind of royalty? I think the reports are now suggesting she is a bigger drag on Sen. McCain than George Bush.

    Ms. RW,

I’m sorry for your situation. I do sincerely hope you can make it out to cast your vote.

I recall the days when the Left savaged the man as an Uncle Tom, a Token, a house slave for the Bush’s.

He’s a real American hero as a soldier, but as a politician, he fights like a tribal Arab; changing sides to whoever happens to be winning at the time.

Keep singing for your meal, General. You’re home now.

Dummycrats, dhimmicrats: Any way that you slice them, the celebrate the culture of death.

Governor Palin generates huge crowds without the accoutrements of “free” rock concerts and styrofoam Greek pillars.

Cross your fingers, fellas. The internal polls show that OhBummer is bleeding, not leading. Isn’t it amazing how much money he has thrown into his campaign to result in such paltry payoffs? Like the money he wasted in the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, OPM (other people’s money) is something that The One feels free to toss around negligently to bolster his own ego and promote his Marxist plans. It’s obvious that OhBummer has never held an accountable executive position.

MsRW, Ink: If you can swing it, volunteer to be a poll watcher. When the polls close, some unscrupulous poll workers “vote” on behalf of registered voters who haven’t shown up. Many of those registrants were put on the voter rolls through the auspices of ACORN.

Bober Re#2: That’s beneath you. One of my sons is a Placement Counselor for an adoption agency and has no trouble whatsoever finding good adoptive parents for babies of any ethnicity. Resources, including complete prenatal and infant care, are available for free in thousands of facilities all over the United States. Among my acquaintances, including my own siblings, are many families which include one or more adopted minority children, often adopted at great expense and in more than a few cases adopted with severe medical or other special needs.

For every unwanted baby there’s a family and a loving home waiting. Abortion came to prominence through the white supremacist Eugenics Movement, not out of any concern for unprepared mothers but as a means of culling “undesirable races.” Support it if you will, but recognize the company you keep in doing so.

  • 16 gafisher // Oct 22, 2008 at 8:55 pm

Re#4: “Lady Palin? Are you suggesting she’s some kind of royalty?

A little OT, but since the topic’s been raised, any woman can be granted the legal and essentially permanent title of Lady [name] for a very small investment. Men can gain the male counterpart of that title in the same way, and if they do so their wife automatically becomes Lady [whatever]. Makes a great gift, as they say.

I think the reports are now suggesting she is a bigger drag on Sen. McCain than George Bush.

I think you’re reading the wrong reports. If anything, Governor Palin has been the precise opposite of a “drag” on the McCain Campaign. Reports are now suggesting Obama wishes he had a running mate like her.

That is one of our jobs, to stand at the door at 7:30 and only let those who have been in line vote. We then, both Democrats and Republicans shut off the computer, count the ballots, seal them in a canvas bag. Then one Republican and one Democrat drive one car to the drop off point. No chance of it happening here.

That is Ohio’s way of doing it. Seems to work fairly good. But in Cleveland they may not have enough Republicans to work. They had one but I think he died after the Civil War or something

Excitement!!! Just checked DRUDGE and McCain/Pslin are moving ahead!! Ahead by three in Florida and ahead by two in Ohio!!!

Of course there are the liberal polls that have Obama ahead by 3000 points in every state plus D.C.

3000 points? Not like they would exaggerate or anything like that.
In reality, almost all polls have the race in a virtual tie (within their 3 point margin).

In this election, I wouldn’t bet thirty five cents on either one. God will put whoever He wants in the Presidency and for His own reasons.

I don’t believe in coincidences, luck or Fortune Cookies. But it wasn’t just a coincidence or accident that Obama knocked on Joe the plumber’s door. Nor is it a coincidence or accident that the media and the DNC are trashing Joe.

Barack “spread the wealth” Obama isn’t doing so well these days.

JL 3rd #31 - Good (a/k/a “God”) vs The absence of God (a/k/a “Evil) There is not one instance in a free and honest election where Conservatism has lost. It’s impossible for the Democrats to beat the Republicans in this upcoming election.

If the Republicans lose, it won’t be the Democrats that won, it will be the Republicans who beat the Republicans, who for one reason or another FAIL TO VOTE!!!

If 80 or 90% of Republicans voted, it would result in the greatest landslide victory in history for the republicans.

I read somewhere that a Communist bigwig stated that “America will never be defeated by an outside force, but will freely vote Communism in as their preferred form of government.”

    Another writer said:
‘The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years’

‘During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:

    1. From bondage to spiritual faith;

    2. From spiritual faith to great courage;

    3. From courage to liberty;

    4. From liberty to abundance;

    5. From abundance to complacency;

    6. From complacency to apathy;

    7. From apathy to dependence;

8 . From dependence back into bondage’

America is somewhere in the 6, 7, & 8 range.

“The absence of God” can win by default on Nov. 4th, but only if enough of God’s people stay home; choosing bondage (#9).

  • 40 Fred Sinclair // Oct 23, 2008 at 10:18 am

Be sure not to miss McCain’s exclusive interview with the Washington Times, in which the Arizona senator lashes out at President Bush. “Sen. John McCain on Wednesday blasted President Bush for building a mountain of debt for future generations, failing to pay for expanding Medicare and abusing executive powers, leveling his strongest criticism to date of an administration whose unpopularity may be dragging the Republican Party to the brink of a massive electoral defeat. ‘We just let things get completely out of hand,’ he said of his own party’s rule in the past eight years.”

Oh snap! Now that’s the “Straight Talk Express” that I was going to vote for in 2000.

I keep hearing that the MSM keeps throwing “hardball” questions at Gov. Palin while tossing “cotton candy puffballs” at Sen. Obama.

I would like for someone in the MSM to ask Sen. Obama, “Sen. Obama, you are on record as professing to be a ‘committed’ Christian. With millions of ‘committed’ Christians who would not hesitate for a single heartbeat to declare that Jesus is the son of God and that anybody who doesn’t believe is condemned and has no hope of heaven? Are you willing to go on record and say the same?”

Anyone in the MSM asking such a question would instantly cease to be in the MSM. Still I’d like to hear Obama’s answer.

1John 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Hawkeye #57 - “I believe that there are many paths to the same place…”

To paraphrase Mike Weston, “Sprinkling sugar on the ‘bull’ and passing it off as candy.”

All roads lead to Rome - ha!

God has His own comment on the ‘many paths’ philosophy:
“Matt. 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:”

    Way off topic:

Know how each year on TV we get the obligatory holiday tour of the Whitehouse by the First Lady? A wonderful Jackie Kennedy / Stepford Wife - styled presentation of the decorations and Christmas trees in each room and the historical tribute paid by each beautifully adorned vignette…

Picture Michelle Obama in this scene.

OK, now clean the vomit off of your keyboard and monitor.

    Fred #62,

But in the same story I linked to above, the author tells us…

Obama doesn’t believe he, or anyone else, will go to hell.

I’m sure you must be mistaken in your understanding of the scriptures…

    Hawkeye,

    Re: 53

    You post,

“I am a Christian. So, I have a deep faith. I’m rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe that there are many paths to the same place…”

I have not found that exact statement in your cite.

All of you here have a bad habit of “characterizing” the words of your “enemies”, often putting quotation mark around those characterizations, I believe that to be an act of bearing false witness.

Obama’s actual words seem more closely related to those of Christ Jesus in Mark 9, particularly verse 38.

In any case, Senator Obama is not a candidate to be your pastor; but rather to be the President of the United States, and chief executive of the government of all her people, including unbelievers.

How do you discern Christ’s Spirit, in the evil one who now occupies that office?

    Hawkeye

That was a pretty scary article. I think of the many kings in the Old Testament, those who loved God and those who didn’t. In between all of that was the rulers who didn’t know what or who they loved.

Like Bob Dylan sang in the song, “You got to serve someone.”

    Re:38

I received my early Christmas present as I prayed for-A nice Republican cloth coat. My very wonderful and gracious friend who is so much like a daughter took my to JC Pennys.

Thankfully, because there is snow in Monday and Tuesday’s forecast.

Also-Obama’s theological beliefs are a lot like his political beliefs. You know, like Jello-hard to nail to the wall.

  • 68 Fred Sinclair // Oct 23, 2008 at 2:36 pm

Hawkeye #64 - “I’m sure you must be mistaken in your understanding of the scriptures…”. Yes, I can see how that could be misunderstood.

“…broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:”

Just as this Matt. 7:14 is also easily misunderstood.

Matt. 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

That’s more easily understood as “Obama doesn’t believe he, or anyone else, will go to hell.”

Isn’t there a song that says, Everybody talking about Heaven, ain’t going there.?

  • 69 Hawkeye // Oct 23, 2008 at 3:58 pm

    et #65,

I simply removed the extraneous material. Here is the article in context with the appropriate statements highlighted for your edification…

I am a Christian,” the 42-year-old Illinois state senator and Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate says, as one of the nearby customers interrupts to congratulate him on his recent primary win. Obama shakes the man’s hand and says, “Thank you very much. I appreciate that,” before turning his attention directly back to the question.

So, I have a deep faith,” Obama continues. “I’m rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people.

    See it now?

  • 70 Hawkeye // Oct 23, 2008 at 4:11 pm

    Fred #68,

    I like this one…

“And they shall go forth and look on the dead bodies of the men that have rebelled against me; for their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”
    -Isaiah 66:24

    Or these…

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
    -Matthew 10:28

You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell?
    -Matthew 23:33

Obama can ignore hell all he wants, but somebody’s goin’ there!

So if that is bearing false witness against your messiah, then do you agree with him that there are many paths that lead to Heaven? Is Hell a literal place and who goes there, if so?
If Hell is not real, why did Christ mention it more often than he did Heaven?
Just like Mr. Cone and his unscriptural Black Liberation Theology, what we see most of today is do it yourself theology, where you can simply tailor your own ideas about God and his Son.

    1. Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

    2. Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

    3. Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

This is the era of “No Fear” Christianity.

    McCain volunteer attacked and mutilated:

A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, police said. . . .

Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim’s car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter “B” into her face, Richard said.

Well, Obama bin Laden did tell his supporters to “get in their faces.”

Hmmmm, I wonder why the lamestream media isn’t reporting this story? Ho hum, just another story of a fascist Obama supporter. I guess the national socialist media is too busy reporting on what size shoes Sarah Palin wears … or that she wasn’t more like Democrat politicians who often get their campaign clothes free from leftard clothes designers (Democrats always love freebies and handouts, don’t they?) and would rather buy them herself with her clothing stipend thereby putting more money into the economy.

Those “pious sounding words” come from the same source as these ones…

    Ecclesiastes 12:13
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

    Genesis 42:18
And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God

    Exodus 9:29-30 KJV
29And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the LORD’s.
30But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the LORD God.

    Exodus 18:21
Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

    Deuteronomy 4:10
Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

Proverbs 24:21 says, “My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change.

    Acts 13:26
Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

    Ephesians 5:21
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

    Revelation 14:7
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

    Revelation 19:5
And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

Anybody care to guess what the Word is trying to tell us?

Woman Attacked, Mutilated for Having a McCain Bumper Sticker
    Thursday, October 23, 2008
    By Melanie Hunter-Omar

(CNSNews.com) – A 20-year-old woman in Pittsburgh was robbed, then attacked and mutilated by the assailant, who was angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on her car, according to a local television station.

WTAE-TV reports that the woman was robbed at knifepoint Wednesday night at an ATM outside of the Citizens Bank in Bloomfield.

After the robber stole her $60, the man became enraged by a McCain bumper sticker he saw on the victim’s car, and then punched and kicked her before using the knife to scratch the letter “B” into her face, according to Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard.

The attack occurred outside the view of the bank’s surveillance cameras, Richard said. The woman refused medical treatment after the assault.

The suspect is described as a 6 ft. 4 in. tall dark-skinned black man, weighing 200 pounds, with a medium build, and short black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing dark-colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.

From three threads back, the answer to the question is Bill Ayers, in case you didn’t know already…

Does anyone know who said this? Fill in the blank for the following statement:
____ once famously commented, “Kill all the rich people. … Bring the revolution home. Kill your parents.”

Hint: It was not Joe the Plumber.

    I have but one question:
Why are some of the pro-life Born Agains so insecure in their belief they feel it necessary to put our articles of faith into law?

I find it incredible that they are acting like a bunch of wooly minded liberals who find it necessary to force salvation on the undeserving who are only fit to burn in hell.

We all know that only 6,500 will be saved (one for each year since God created the Earth out of dust). Our leaders should NOT waste paradise on these unbelievers but take as many of us with them as possible.

    Thanks for letting me rant.

    Hey Darth,

By Adults are you referring to the intellectual of you who voted for George W. Bush twice? Yea, that’s a record to brag about. Most would feel apologetic. Even your candidate is attacking his imbecilic behavior for the last eight years. Not you, if Rush says it’s good, you fall in lock step.

Our turn. :) Take your red pill and all will return to normal for you.
