Some snippets of the McCain speech:
“We’re going to help workers who’ve lost a job that won’t come back find a new one that won’t go away”
“We will use our community colleges to help train people for new opportunities in their communities.”
“…or workers in industries that have been hard hit, we’ll help make up part of the difference in wages between their old job and a temporary, lower-paid one while they receive retraining that will help them find secure new employment at a decent wage.”
So, McCain is saying, “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.” Can you see why I’m not voting for this joker?

McCain didn’t elaborate on the statements joelodom talked about above. Yes the one about the wage and training put the brakes on for a moment and hopefully he has something different in mind.
But remember, a president can’t do anything on his own. If he has a crappy idea, we will shoot it down. Beyond that, we can hold his numerous great challenges to heart.
Still compared to OB1, he is far ahead in the conservative run.

Okay, Cougie, I’ll say it; it ain’t so! Your first mistake is taking anything the always unbiased AP says as truth…..your so-called lies were debunked first in June when these numbers were trotted out and again yesterday here. To borrow their question; “where were the AP fact checkers at the Democrat convention?” !!

So true. And, I’d rather be riding in the “Old Fogey’s” flawed, yet steady boat on that river than in Obama’s “Whitewater”-riding raft from Hell while being “sold down the river.”

Being an old fogey myself, I have to say that as an undecided voter, and still am, the presentation Sen. McCain offered, gave me a reason to vote for him.
Being a card carrying Teamster, and Roman Catholic, forces me to continue to sit on the fence of this Presidential campaign. My union, and other unions have endorsed Mr. Obama, for just cause. The blue collar laborer in this country, especially those in my industry, the transportation sector, have seen rules and regulations bestowed upon us in the last eight years that brings my job akin to slave labor, literally. The DOT secretary, Mary Peters, is more in tune with the wishes of big business, those belonging to the ATA in particular. This brand of good old boy networking is causing a veritable Armageddon on the highways of this country, with impunity. DOT and ATA just some how have devised a system for skewing the accident numbers to fit their agenda.
During Sen. McCains speech last evening, vowing to not listen to Union bosses really bothers me. Here is why. Obviously, Sen. McCain forgets that the labor leaders of our Unions, are the voice of the vast majority of our membership. The membership is the blue collar taxpaying citizen who believes basically you get a good days work, for a good days pay. Wasn’t that the thrust of the Senators speech, regarding jobs and such? Then why deny a person the choice to be a part of a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Then why must the McCain/Palin campaign, by its’ own proclamation, disenfranchise itself with organized labor. My guess would be that big business will take center stage, and reap the highest priority with the McCain/Palin White House. That’s what we really need is to bring labor laws back to the 1890’s, so that the average working class citizen can again work 16 hours a day for what will equate to 2 hours pay. I think this is really not out of reality. As you can see from the above quote, that we have already digressed 50 to 60 years already.
On the other hand Senator Obama undeniably is pro-choice. My moral and religious beliefs prohibit me from voting for one who advocates in favor of the destruction of innocent human life.
As a life long Republican, I am personally torn between these two candidates. Where is Ross Perot when you need him.

Cougar Melancholy…in his associations with domestic unrepentant terrorists, in his “community organizing” via groups like ACORN and “Public Allies,” in his attending the racist church of J’Wright spewing “black liberation theology,” in his “bitter-clinger/typical white person” comments, in his dubious associations with questionable islamic organizations, in his following of Saul Alinsky [a communist], and in his “social change” politics, Obama is doing a very good job of “swift rafting” himself…

Electioneering these days is to attempt to outpromise your opponent. Most Americans vote for whoever promises them the biggest piece of pie, unless someone else promises them both pie and cake. It has shaped our opinions and helped get us to at least a minimal dependency on our friends in D.C.
Government has had to involve itself in employment matters in the past, but it is not a good thing overall. Businesses should always work in partnership with employees and employees with business, both need each other to be successful.
I drive a truck, DOT regulations are to the point of being rediculous. The same government that enforces our safety regulations also exempts us from mandatory overtime pay, and allows us to be paid on a per mile basis, both only serve to encourage a driver to drive longer to try to make a buck and to allow the employer to pay no higher cost regardless of how long one driver is behind the wheel, or they have two or three drivers. I have worked for $9.00/hr with “unlimited” hours and if you needed more money they offered you more runs. Now I work under a contract negotiated between my company and the Teamsters union, am I better off? Yes, I am. But have I seen businesses close down because of a unionized workforce that was suffering low productivity? Yes, I have.
But how much do these issues effect the person I am voting for in November? Not a whole lot. One side represents sorta how I view things, the other is wrong at just about every turn. What the candidate actually does to, or for me depends on a whole lot of other elected folks the most of which I cannot vote for or against. It depends on the demands of my fellow countrymen and women in what they demand.
But really, my future depends entirely upon the providence of God. Upon the grace and mercy that he bestows on me. Yours does too, but do you put your trust in him, or government?

Maybe you should contemplate ‘God will provide’ as you enter that voting booth.

Mig, perhaps I need to clarify. Pocket book v. life? I suppose the question needs to be, The quality of my life v. creation of new life. This is more of a theological question at this point. My conscience needs to take control of this one. (egads) On the other hand as I have learned over the weekend, was Sen. Bidens views on this very subject, on Face the Nation, and gave a reasonably biblical answer to this political question. Does it make the case in my mind? Not sure. Let’s see what transpires over the next few weeks. Someone will eventually get a big enough stick to knock me off the fence.
