Obama: McCain Puts Sarah Palin in 2nd Place

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 68 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2008-08-29) — Sen. Barack Obama today slammed his Republic opponent John McCain as “a sexist who sees women as subordinate to men and who intentionally puts them in his shadow,” just minutes after Sen. McCain announced he had selected Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.

“What could be more denigrating to women?” Sen. Obama asked a crowd of supporters in western Pennsylvania. “I think it’s shameful that Mrs. Palin’s name will always be mentioned after McCain’s and that she’ll earn less money than he will. American women are tired of being put in their place by men — treated as second-class citizens.”

Sen. Obama, who chose an elderly white man name Joe Biden as his running mate rather than his rival Sen. Hillary Clinton, said he avoided picking Mrs. Clinton “to spare her the humiliation that John McCain plans to impose on Sarah Palin.”

“The only way she’ll be able to break into the old-boy network of the presidency,” said Sen. Obama, “is over John McCain’s dead body. McCain is literally the man who stands in her way.”

    Woot!

    McCain/Palin ‘08! I am ENERGIZED.

Her nominee acceptance speech came from the heart. The Dems seriously underestimate the Republican powerhouse nominees. Country First! More executive experience- with results- than OhBummer can only dream of, that is our Sarah.

Cheering. I am finally fired up.

With Sarah Palin’s selection as John McCain’s running mate, Obama’s “Convention Bounce” has become a resounding thud.

Hah! I am trying to get the text of Palins acceptance sppech on google to send to husband who should arrive in Kuwait over the weekend, and all I get is Barack this and Barack that… annoying.

    Still fired up though!

  • 6 gafisher // Aug 29, 2008 at 2:07 pm

Mig Re#5; Sarah Palin’s speech should show up here shortly if you can’t find it elsewhere. The McCain / Palin website is already showing updates to reflect the announcement. And looking really good all of a sudden.

  • 7 RedPepper // Aug 29, 2008 at 2:23 pm

“… an elderly white man name Joe Biden … ”

Joe Biden has been a United States Senator since he was sworn in January 3, 1973.

At the time, Barack Obama was 11 years old.

Oops. I meant to say, 11 years and five months!

    “Change … ” ; right, Barry ?

  • 10 Fred Sinclair // Aug 29, 2008 at 2:36 pm

This new piece of Scott’s popped up just as I was posting this to prior string.

I’ve seen Rush excited before! Like when the e-bay sale of Dingy Harry’s smear letter brought $2,100,100.00 Rush quote: “The Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation was the charity here, and they have received $4.2 million now from Betty Casey and from me. So it’s a done deal. They have the money. We’re just waiting for the work to get done at Patrick Henry’s place to make the presentation.”

Rush was ecstatically beside himself in his happiness. but even that paled today as he displayed his hilarious joy at Sarah’s being picked as McCain’s V.P. choice. Totally out of character he turned his program over to broadcasting John’s introduction speech and Sarah’s acceptance speech.

He suggested that Obama and Biden should leave for the Gulf and stop the approaching Hurricane so as to prepare for “Hurricane Sarah” that is about to hit them. (Her nickname is “Barracuda”) - She and her husband are ardent hunters and fishers.

Back in May JWR did a piece on her titled “McCain, here’s your VP” so I was already praying for her even though as of last night it looked pretty sure for Gov. Tim Paulenty to get the nod. My God is an awesome God who answers prayer even when I was thinking His answer was “No”. - Fooled me!

    B.O. STINKS

    It isn’t fair !

It’s a gimmick ! McCain only picked Palin (totally against his usual instincts!) because she’s a … conservative !

The Democrat femi-nazis are simply going to hate Sarah Palin because she’s articulate, politically experienced and makes them look like a bunch of nattering old hags. Wait … they ARE nattering old hags!

Joe Biden can pack more lies into a sentence since Slick Willy … except that his sentences are longer.

It’s nice to have a ticket where the Vice Presidential candidate straight out has more experience than the other side’s Presidential candidate.

  • 14 Just Ranting // Aug 29, 2008 at 3:04 pm

    Sarah Palin’s short resume…
    Hockey mom,
    Grass roots political growth;
    PTA, Town Council, mayor, Governor of Alaska;
Former Miss Alaska contestant who won Miss Congeniality, (there’s not female Dem who can lay claim to being congenial regarding anything),

Lifetime member of the NRA (can’t you she the wildlife trophies she’ll have hanging on her office walls?)

Walks the walk on pro-life issues!
This nominee has more real life experience than either Obama or Biden.

She has fought corruption within her own party in Alaska and is know as a true reformer.

She has and will continue to work for American energy independence.
Alaskan’s for the most part are people who are very self reliant, and have a no nonesense approach to life. She is a breath of fresh air in this stale campaign. I was hoping McCain would pick a strong conservative. He did not let us down this time. For the first time I feel really jazzed about this election.

  • 15 Mack // Aug 29, 2008 at 3:06 pm

I would wonder, how much warning the Democrats really had before this rolled over them. I can hear Howard Dean shrieking from here much as he did when he got spanked in Iowa oh those four years ago. It’s warmer here today than it was that night. As I recall it was below zero has he whooped up his loss. Today it’s about 80. Same result.

This puts a new twist in the donkey tails that’s for sure. Even if I am still a little luke warm about McCain this will make the election entertaining. I look forward to the debates. Charles Manson made a strange comment after the first day of testimony in the Tate - Labianca trial. He was quoted as saying “We were doing ok until the trial started.”

For the Democrats, the trial started and will end with the debates.

Analysis: Palin’s age, inexperience rival Obama’s

If you can believe it, this was a recent Orwellian headline by AP writer Ron Fournier. This disgusting piece of biased trash is so laughable in that Fournier admits Palin has two terms of mayoral executive experience and two years as governor of Alaska! What is Obama’s executive experience … a big fat zero! What an intellectual pygmy … and an intellectually dishonest one at that.

Oh, and does being three years younger than someone else pose a serious liability? Besides, she’s only the VP. Only recently the Donks were crowing about how Obama was much younger than McCain, so wouldn’t you think that makes the younger Palin even more qualified than Obamessiah? Sheesh, the Donks in the media can’t even keep their own ignorant stories straight.

    WOW!! Sarah Palin!! WOOHOO!!

Smart, pro-life, pro-2nd amendment, executive experience, pro-USA/military, pro-drilling here/now, tough yet feminine, strong…and so much more. The more I learn about her, the more I can believe that she embodies the spirit of a great Conservative woman. Way to go, Johnny…you made me happy at Saddleback, and you’ve fired me up by picking Sarah Palin!!

  • 20 Shelly // Aug 29, 2008 at 3:47 pm

Posters at The Corner are fired up as well. Three of my favorite comments:

“Of course, you are correct that women will not reflexively vote for Governor Palin because of her gender. This pick helps more with *men*. Think we’d much rather watch Governor Palin than Sen. Biden for the next four years?”

“That’s what authentic authenticity looks like.” Sarah Barracuda is much more real than Scrappy Scranton Joe.

Rats, I actually though for a moment that we had found someone with no “baggage” so to speak but alas, it does not appear so…

Much of that tension has come as Palin, whose husband works for oil major BP, has pushed for companies to more quickly develop reserves in the state that is home to Prudhoe Bay, the nation’s largest oil field.

A poster over at HotAir calls the McCain-Palin ticket “POW/WOW ‘08″.

Nancy Pelosi must be chewing nails — the metal kind.

Meanwhile, The Community Organizer® and The Plagiarizer® have been on the wrong side of national security issues, lo these many years. Seriously, someone needs to direct them to FactCheck stat. Their intention to expand the welfare state jeopardizes our country in multiple ways.

Olberman and Matthews are still on their fainting couches, having swallowed the swill from the set of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum last night. Their shock at the announcement of Palin as McCain’s VP may send them into apoplexy.

Prediction: Expect Jindal to handle Gustav with finesse, a quality sorely lacking in the first-line-of-defense Blanco and Nagin. We wouldn’t want the “Chocolate City” of the latter to melt in his hand again.

Another thought crossed my dusty, and out of tune mind this evening. It is a well known secret (ha!) that the Clintons loath OB1 the mess.i.uh and the speech was likely a well paid dividend from Soros to go away and shut up.

With that in mind it would be a hoot if Hillary, as a repayment, told the women of which they say is 18 million to back Sarah Palin.

That would be the best landslide since Walter Mondale fell to his knees and begged to be shot. He only won Minnesota in his bid for the office against the mighty Reagan.

Of course he had the stench of Jimmy Carter all over him

  • 40 onlineanalyst // Aug 29, 2008 at 10:06 pm

As Hannity says, JL3rd, “Let not your heart be troubled.” Palin knows energy issues quite well and has fought aggressively for the construction of the trans-Canadian pipeline. All areas of energy are on the table for her, but she is realistic about using the wealth of American resources that we have, necessary for our national security and our economy.

For more information, check out the Palin-energy interview thread over at HotAir. She managed to put a dig in on Biden, too, who was anti-energy independence thirty years ago. (That’s change we can believe in?)

One other point that some have noted: When Obama speaks before crowds, the cult lemmings chant his name-” O-bam-a, O-bam-a, etc”.
When Palin was speaking during the Veep nomination announcement, the crowds were chanting, “USA, USA, USA”.

The McCain/Palin ‘08 ticket really is looking into and on behalf of the future… and they are both optimistic for it.

This was my post on our wildly liberal local paper’s blog. I think the locals have gone nuts.

    *********************************************

“It seems like the hard core liberals have taken on the night shift so let me just say this as my final post of the day.

If you hate Sarah Palin so much then just chill. Seems like what I have been reading on the last half of the postings that you think she is dumb, an anchor for John McCain, less experienced than OB1 (Obama) just another PTA mother who loves her kids to much to run the country and a wild haired lover of guns.

If all you say is true-go to bed and rest easy for you have nothing to worry about, right? OB1 will win hands down, right. So chill. Forget you ever heard her name. Kiss your Obama picture picture goodnight and get on your knees and thank your god (or God ) that you love taxes, hate free enterprise, are dying to pay $5 for a gallon of gas and most of all never have to worry about the man (whoever he is) stealing your money. “

  • 45 Darthmeister // Aug 30, 2008 at 5:49 am

I would consider it a privilege to shot trap or duck hunt next to Sarah Palin. Nothing more beautiful than a woman who knows her way around firearms … unless its a woman who knows firearms and was a former beauty queen.

Now how delicious is this irony in the world of Donkdom? A gun-loving, oil-drilling, love-America Republican beauty queen who is more qualified to be President on the basis of her competent administrative skills than either of the two Donk candidates. And is probably a better shot. I want to see a picture of Obambi holding a shotgun or buying a goose hunting license a la John Kerry. Buwahahahahaha. O’ what cruel irony. Sarah is probably more of want we want to see in a man than Obambi!

But I’m confident that the willing Democratic accomplices in the lamestream media are this very minute trying to formulate a plan of personal destruction, even if it means photoshopping nude pictures of her and then putting them on the Internet.

But I can’t wait until this SUV mom begins putting her bootprints on the backside of Obamessiah and Joe “Hair Plugsy” Biden. Liberal fascists like them probably think that if they can rough her up with more of their leftist lies, the White House will be theirs. Go for it dudes, it will only enhance her resume and assure the Republican party of the crossover votes this Fall.

BTW, the latest “scandal” is that her husband and 18 year old Army son is … ready for this, independent voters! Yep, they aren’t registered Republicans like her but rather they are independent voters … like me. Hmmmmm, I think that will actually help the ticket this November, so this attempt at trying to embarrass Palin will quickly disappear when the media morons figure it out.

BTW, I wonder how many Democrat femi-nazis browbeat their husbands into being Democrats instead of independents or possibly even Republicans? Has anyone else noticed how liberal men always seem to have this submissive look about them when in the presence of their domineering Democratic harpy? I have on many occasions. It’s actually quite embarassing. Democratic women rule over their husbands, Republican women rule next to their husbands.

Now, look at the Katrina like mess he’s made for your convention!

Either his god is as backward and incompetent as Dumbyah, or God is trying to say something to those meeting next week in Saint Paul.

  • 60 JamesonLewis3rd // Aug 30, 2008 at 7:25 pm

As for his praying for a deluge: “It’s called hyperbole,” Shepard said Monday. “It is meant to be humorous.”

I knew it was a joke as soon as I heard it, but that’s because I know that they know that God would not find such a prayer humorous and that, therefore, they would never pray for such a thing.

Of course, the Godless Christian-haters only laugh about devastating killer hurricanes, abortion-on-demand and perverted sex as they mock anything and everything that is decent. They don’t realize that they are the pathetic joke as they emulate their god, satan.

“Imagine if it were the [GOP] undergoing equivalent convulsions [to those of the Democrats]. Let’s say Mitt Romney’s supporters demanded an open floor vote and were seething with public resentment against John McCain, the way Hillary’s delegates are against Obama. Add to that former President George H.W. Bush verbally undercutting McCain at every opportunity, in the manner of Bill Clinton’s anger toward Obama regarding Hillary, because of, say, statements he made against his son, the sitting president. Finally, what if Mike Huckabee were involved in a cheating/love child scandal the way John Edwards is, and had become so much of an embarrassment that, like Edwards, he couldn’t even speak to his own party’s convention after winning lots of electoral votes? Is there any doubt that the Democrats and the media elites would classify such a GOP convention as the biggest fiasco in the history of party politics?” —Investor’s Business Daily

“If you support Barack Obama, please drive with your headlights off at night.”

Better, that, than to spend your life wearing blinders to avoid seeing the corruption, incompetence, and hypocrisy of those who have handed up their American birthright of freedom to those who seek to control them by fear, ignorance and intolerance.

I ain’t seen him this excited since he gave the lever a pull for Jimmah! Utopian dreams got him feelin’ all warm and fuzzy again. Separate your Godly conscience from your soul and join him as he travels down the old Utopian Highway, the final destination is beyond human comprehension.

If the “Utopian Highway” is the only road out of the desolation brought by the last eight years of Republican rule, I suggest you get an early start, because the traffic will be very heavy!!!
