(2008-08-07) — In a double-trade designed to end bitter recriminations, and “to let bygones be bygones”, retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has been traded to the New York Jets, and in return, New York will send defeated presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to the Republican Party.
Neither superstar has dealt well with being “out of the game”, and both have been looking for ways to extended their involvement.
Sen. Clinton’s people had been in negotiations with victorious rival Barack Obama to get a prominent role in the Democrat Party’s convention in August, while the Packers had offered Mr. Favre a “marketing contract” worth some $20 million which would have sidelined him as well.
But these seasoned competitors yearned to get back in the fray — to step out under the lights, to hear the cheer of the crowd, to smell the rich aroma of human blood and sweat and to savor the look of fear in an opponents eyes because you’re about to do something he doesn’t expect.
The Jets ended the 2007 season with a disappointing 4-12 record, and the GOP has stumbled to a 233-202 minority in the House, and 51-49 in the Senate. Each beleaguered franchise hopes the acquisition of a storied veteran will breath new life into the organization, yet spokesmen from both acknowledge that getting a grizzled warrior to adopt a new game-plan poses the proverbial challenge of “teaching an old dog new tricks”.

Denverites are mostly annoyed with all the green weenies that are running around trying to impress the liberal left with Denvers ability to be ecologically sound. I would venture to say that if Denver really wanted to be green, they would send the convention elsewhere and keep the extra limos parked. But of course, even liberals like financial gain, can anyone say ’sellout’? If you watch the news comming out of the Rocky Foothills, you would think that everyone is on scooters ,driving electric cars and powering thier cell phones with tread mills. Green my …. well you know. Why not issue skateboards and let people get to the convention by thier own volition?

I read somewhere yesterday that The Hill & Bill Show has been on the phone hot’n'heavy with the so-called “superdelegates” lately.
Whereas John McCain is the Republican nominee because he has the required delegates, BO is only the “presumptive” Democrat nominee because he does not have the required delegates—it could very easily go either way.

I bet Favre was sacked more times than sHrillary ever was. Of course the only sack that was really newsworthy was when the Donks decided to dump a lying ol’ bag whom they strenuously defended the last fifteen years in order to embrace their new messianic golden child whom they believe can tell no lies!
I have to admit, it has been rather interesting seeing how secular liberals turned on the Clintons in a matter of weeks and then got caught up in the messianic fervor over Obummer. But then that’s expected of people who think with their glands instead of their brains.

The ever articulate and brilliant Barack Hussein Obama answering a difficult question posed by a 7 year old girl: “America is …, uh, is no longer, uh … what it could be, what it once was. And I say to myself, I don’t want that future for my children.â€
But wait, if we are to understand his nearly incomprehensible answer, isn’t Obamessiah saying he wants to return America to its former glory in direct contradiction to his message of new “change” for the future? I guess by “change” Obamessiah means that he wants to change the future of America to reflect its past, that’s why he’s been recycling the same ol’ failed leftist political bromides on the campaign trail.
Well, I guess among his faithful followers the rules of contradiction don’t apply to messiahs.
26 conserve-a-tip // Aug 7, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Darthmeister: I wonder if the MSM will note that by saying that “uh, America is…uh…is no longer, uh…what it could be…” Obama is stating the impossible, since for America to have been what it could be, makes America no longer able to be what it could be since it already is in that particular state of being what it could be. But even worse, “could be” is in the future and “is no longer” is in the present and so he is saying that America can’t be in the present and the future at the same time. Duh.
And then we move on to “America is no longer what it could be - what it once was” which is basically saying that America is no longer in the past (what it once was), nor is it in the future (what it could be)and so it is evidently in the present (what IS). And so, we can only surmise that Obummer finds himself in agreement with his nemesis, William Jefferson Clinton, that it all depends on what the definition of is is. This man is deep and most articulate.

The losses in health care systems in Canada, England and all Europe (and any other place it’s in force) is so bankrupting them that triage is in place to one degree or another.
After a certain age you don’t qualify for certain ‘expensive’ operations. Babies in the womb with known problems and/or deformities will be automatically aborted. Certain diseases MS - MD, etc. would get treatment based on age and potential of being a contributing citizen.
Liking McCain or not liking McCain cannot be a factor. Democratic control of the President’s Office could spell the end of America, (as we know it).

I have been to various conventions and national business meetings ( on a much smaller scale) where there has been just as much background maneuvering and grumbling and when everyone shows up they just go blank like sheep and vote unanimously and apparently without thought. As you all know there is a group dynamic that causes folks who grumble to one or two of their friends or even send out flame emails to hundreds of people to simply sit down and shut up when actually faced with those same people.

Awwwww, the lamestream media gets another black eye. After covering for John “The Breck Girl” Edwards the last two years concerning his affair with a staffer, Rielle Hunter, Edwards himself will spill the beans after repeated and very flimsy denials. Of course this makes the guy an even bigger jerk for engaging in his affair while his wife was struggling with cancer. Can you imagine how the media vultures would have descended on any Republican or conservative who so callously betrayed his cancer-striken wife in such a manner?
The left-wing moonbats were in full denial mode the last two weeks when reputable sources put Edwards earlier in Beverly Hills “escorting” Ms. Hunter and were cleansing their comment boards of people who dared besmirch Edward’s sterling liberal character with such tawdry allegations. Once again moonbat blogsites like DailyKos and Demoncratunderground.com prove themselves to be little more than neo-fascist censors when independent sources and conservative bloggers report news not to their liking.
Edwards was such a liteweight anyway so even without the affair he would probably never be perceived with enough moral character (what do you expect of an ambulance chaser, right?) or gravitas to make a legitimate run for the presidency in the future.

Quick update: my daughter is better, but still not out of the woods yet. Our church pianist was taken off of life support at her request and is holding her own for now, she told another member that we weren’t gonna get rid of her that easy, but her overall prognosis isn’t good. My Pastor’s good friend has 8 ribs broken in two places and his lungs collapsed, now has pneumonia.
God is still good, even when life gets hard.
Glad to see you back Ms RW ! I haven’t had time to read all of the posts, maybe won’t be able to until next week as tomorrow we are going back to Montana to get MKK-IV from his month at camp. I dunno if we will return late tomorrow night/Sunday morning or around 7 AM on Sunday. I guess since this past Monday I’ve had maybe 6 or 7 hours that I wasn’t running somewhere, I’m beyond exhausted and mentally drained.
But as always, God will be good tomorrow.

I’ll bet there’s a bunch of sleuths sniffing along the money trail; that could be interesting.
Edwards should go to Leavenworth for some kind of Aggravated Presidential Candidate Fraud or something; except for his kids, I guess, but I don’t know. Anybody that voted for him in the primaries, or even rooted for him at all, must be livid!
He garnered 4.5 Total Delegate Votes in the primaries. I’ll bet they’re bummed.

The current accepted Morality in these United States is severly distressing. How can we rise above if the children see prominent people like Edwards and Kilpatrick engaged in such activity?
Again it has pervaded every single inch, yea even every fraction of measure in this land.

Fred Re the Obama Citizenship issue, [here] is a pretty good summary of the case at this point along with a suggestion that voters in each state demand that their respective Secretaries of State insist on positive proof of the Candidate’s Citizenship before permitting his name on the November ballot.
Apparently, the Obama “Birth Document” currently being circulated shows compelling signs to some experts of having been altered (forged) from the document originally issued for Obama’s half-sister. Sounds like there just might be a case here.

Drifting back to the current Scrappleface headline, if “Favre” is pronounced Farve, is “Hillary” now to be pronounced Hurl?

MKK re# 71 “he’s a lawyer ya know”.
Yes, that is what has surprised me about this whole Edward’s thing.
I’m sure you saw him being interviewed by the “journalist” who asked him about the trist .He was absolutely unbelieveable. His body language was screaming ” I am not telling the truth”!
It will probably be realestate law for him from now on.
Another thing.Isn’t it a coincidence that all of the Edward’s flack was released just when Obummer and family go on vacation? That way, McCain is off the news and Oblahblah is left in peace?
I’m just sayin’………..?
