Romney Loss Keeps Him a Heartbeat Away

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 6 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2008-01-08) — Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, in conceding New Hampshire’s presidential primary to John McCain, wished the septuagenarian senator well, and noted that despite another second-place finish, “I’m still just a heartbeat away from the nomination.”

“With all due respect to Sen. McCain,” said Mr. Romney, “he’s been eligible for AARP membership since the year Reagan told Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. I’m praying for his continued health, and keeping my bus motor running.”

Meanwhile, Sen. McCain headed to South Carolina with renewed momentum, offering to display his physical vigor by using his bare hands to crush Mr. Romney’s hairdo.

I don’t know whether want a President with hair that is prettier than mine, but then I don’t really want one who snarls and shows all his teeth. I’m waiting for John Wayne to come riding out of the west .

In a news conference Deanna Favre announced she will be the starting QB for the Packers this coming Sunday. She claimed she is qualified to be starting QB because she has spent the past 16 years married to Brett while he played QB for the Packers. Because of this she understands how to pick up a corner blitz and knows the terminology of the Packers offense. A poll of Packers fans shows that 50% of those polled supported the move.

Does this sounds idiotic and unbelievable to you? Yet Hillary Clinton makes the same claims as to why she is qualified to be President and 50% of democrats polled agreed.

Speakin’ of AARP, they started sending me their propaganda even before I was eligible; not that I am eligible, I’ve heard they’ve got great deals on “umbrella” insurance policies.

I’m not sure if I want to insure any umbrellas, though…

Romney’s taking the loss well and sending all sorts of congratulations. For example, at 4 this morning three hundred members of the “Tabernacle Choir” woke Sen. McCain with a stirring rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.”

AARP “eligibility” is pretty loose, Camo. Every golddigger in Vegas qualifies as long as her sugar daddy de jeur is over 50. I suspect they’d take money from anyone who didn’t mind funding liberal causes.
