(2008-01-02) — Former presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton today reaffirmed her commitment to her White House bid in the face of polls showing she could finish as low as second or third in Thursday’s Iowa caucuses.
Reprising her campaign announcement speech, Sen. Clinton said, “I’m in, and I’m in to win. But it all depends on what your definition of ‘win’ is.”
Mrs. Clinton said it’s too early to talk about pulling out of the race, and that if she gets “any support at all in Iowa, it will be a historic event since no wife of a former president has ever notched even single digits in the state.”
Meanwhile, rival Dennis Kucinich encouraged his supporter to back Sen. Barack Obama if, as expected, the diminutive Congressman fails to garner at least 15 percent on the first ballot.
“I was going throw my voter to Sen. Clinton,” said Rep. Kucinich, “but there’s only one person in the known universe who sees Hillary as his second choice, and he doesn’t live in Iowa.”
The Clinton campaign said even with a weak showing in Iowa, the candidate would still have a lot of options, including becoming a symbolic one-issue candidate, a vanity candidate, or “the heir to the Ralph Nader legacy.”

I hope that Hillary goes down in flames…
(I figure she will eventually, in any case)

Of course it’s too early for Madame Hillary to withdraw. She hasn’t cashed out all of those Christmas gift cards yet.

Funny to see the morning-after comments from the, er, almost winners (to use properly PC terminology) who didn’t really intend or expect to win and who don’t think Iowa is really all that important anyway …
It does raise questions about their reasons for spending all those millions on a race that didn’t matter, but I suppose how a politician spends money is their own business, eh?
