(2007-08-24) — Sen. John Warner, R-VA, yesterday called on President George Bush to start bringing troops home from Iraq “to show al Qaeda that the U.S. commitment to fighting Muslim terrorists overseas is not open-ended.”
“This is a two-way street,” said Sen. Warner. “We’ve kept our end of the deal, delivering crushing blows to the terror networks, but al Qaeda has refused to capitulate. It’s time to send a strong, clear message that our devotion to fighting the enemies of freedom is not a blank check.”
The influential member of the Senate Armed Services Committee said, “Usama Bin Laden and his minions need to see that we mean business, and that someday soon they won’t have the U.S. military to kick around Iraq anymore.”
The lawmaker added that best way to quell the violence against U.S. forces in Iraq is to remove them from Iraq.
“After we’re out,” he said, “if al Qaeda wants to kill Americans they’ll have to come to America to do it, where our troops will be enjoying a well-deserved rest at home and time with their wives and children.”

Thanks Mr. Warner, the libs are popping Champagne now.
Too bad we didn’t see the error of our way back in ‘44 and leave Europe and Asia to the enemy. How where we to know then it’d be over in less than a year? We can never again succumb to the idea of victory.

Oh I can’t wait for the parades, ticker tape and boys kissing their girls in their sharp Navy suits. Ooops, that was WWII.
Now we can’t throw ticker tapes because we destroy trees and parades are carbon producers. I still hope the boys can kiss the girls
In Iraq, al Qaeda can parade them hot burka babes and throw car bombs at them.

Ms Rightwing, Ink: Nope - no kissing - disease, don’t ya know?
Santini: Scott threw us a new one before I could tell you what a hillariously funny musical rendition you produced. I’m still humming. If you will remember, Gilbert and Sullivan are just my absolute favorites, with the Mikado being my number one in the repetoire.
Scott, all I can say is, “Ouch.”

“… our devotion to fighting the enemies of freedom …”
Obviously not the sort of “increased devotion” we once aspired to.

Not the dreaded Al Qaeda navy!
Feared throughout the civilized (and even the uncivilized) world for their flotilla of rafts comprised of coconut shells. When then they near land they begin lobbing those cocounuts at unsuspecting swimmers. Of course, after a bit they run out of said ammo and, as a byproduct, their flotilla.
Then they swim ashore and presumably get jobs as taxi drivers. Now we know why cab drivers are so scary! They are ex-terrorist navy crews, stuck here.
Now, if we can just cut off their supply of coconut shells we can truly sleep well.

Boys kissing the girls on VI day, Ms RightWing? Looks like a sexual harassment suit in the making to me!

Is he one of those Warner Bros. who make cartoons?

Close, Camo. This Warner doesn’t make cartoons, but he’s certainly a character.

Obviously, Sen. Warner does not subscribe to a whatever-it-takes philosophy.
Exactly what is happening to Virginia politicians? Too many from a state (commonwealth?) that once boasted of being the seat of our nation’s founding are now nothing more than squishes.
Besides, who takes seriously the judgment of a former husband of Elizabeth Taylor? The concepts are contradictory.

ola, you beat me to the punch on the Liz Taylor’s “ex” point!! Maybe Warner and Liz should remarry, they’re both “past it” and totally clueless. C’mon you two kids…give love another try!

Maybe that is why Iran is developing nuclear power for their ships of the desert. Can’t wait to see a nuclear powered camel.
They are trying to have their own nuclear navy.

From Virginia there hails Senator Warner;
Who fears all armed towel headed foreigners;
Complains Al Qaeda’s attacking the troops he’s not backing!
Boy, just wait ’til they’re on his street corner.

c-a-t:
Thanks, and I’m glad you enjoyed the Gilbert & Sullivan Jean-Fraude Kerriere parody.
I’m a big G&S fan, too. My favorite production is “The Pirates of Penzance”, followed closely by “The Mikado” and “H.M.S. Pinafore”. These gentlemen were master satirists of he mores of late-Victorian England, kind of the musical Scott Otts of their time.

I meant to say “…master satirists of the mores of late-Victorian England…” Du-u-u-u-uh….
