'Cowardly' Bush Fails to Show for Democrat Debate

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 32 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2007-04-27) — President George Bush is a 'coward' for failing to appear among the eight Democrat presidential candidates at last night’s debate at South Carolina State University, according to several top Democrat operatives.

While candidates at the debate mentioned Mr. Bush some 25 times during the 90-minute MSNBC-televised event, Mr. Bush declined to make an appearance to defend himself against their accusations.

The White House neglected, this morning, to offer a substantive reason for the president’s absence from the forum at which he, and his policies, were a main topic of discussion.

“The president is not seeking a third term,” said Acting White House Press Secretary Dana Perino. “He offers no apology to the hundreds of Democrats in the auditorium at South Carolina State, nor to the dozens of viewers watching on MSNBC.”

Let ‘em keep campaigning AGAINST the President. Maybe they won’t even notice that he isn’t running!

Mornin’ all. Hey Libby! Happy B-day! Check your e-mail… I sent you greetings.

  • 10 Hawkeye // Apr 27, 2007 at 7:22 am

Hmmm. Check the links. It would appear that
    Bush IS a “uniter”… not a “divider”.

    Regards…

I opted to watch Walker, Texas Ranger give his rebuttal which had the same starting time on another channel-somehow, I have a feeling that what Cordell had to say was far more substantive or, at least, I know for sure it wasn’t a lie-fest.

Maybe he had a few spies in the audience.

  • 13 Darthmeister // Apr 27, 2007 at 7:32 am

And it appeared the Donks at the debate last night haven’t been wearing their tinfoil hats for a while. The Rovian Mind Control Machine has had an obvious effect on them.

    Libby, Happy Belated Birthday.

Scott, hilarious as usual. I love the fact that the Dems are running against GWB. I didn’t know that we had reinstated unlimited terms for presidents. Guess I’ve been out of the loop.

To TrueConservative on the last thread: You asked if we even knew who Ike was. I ask if you know who Ike was. Evidently, you were unaware of the following: “To complicate the President’s [Truman] political troubles, a boomlet developed for the nomination of General Eisenhower on the Democratic ticket. Ike never had voted, and until 1952 did not know whether he was a Republican or a Democrat.” From Off The Record, edited by Robert H. Ferrell. (wonderful book that you might want to pick up)

Sounds like a true conservative to me.

I watched cartoons with my kids, figured it would be the more intelligent choice.

(Or, per Sen. Mrs. Clinton, “We’uns be losted.”)

    I wasn’t there, either…

WASTE NOT! ALL DEMS TOOK PRIVATE JETS: ‘No one pooled, no one took commercial flights to save money, fuel or emissions’…

Once more Democratic hypocrisy demonstrated by its leadership. Sigh.

Had Bush shown up, he’d have been sourraded by 8 empty suits! So why bother??

  • 21 Len Peracchio // Apr 27, 2007 at 8:43 am

Wonder IF FAT ALBERT will sell GREEN DISPENSATIONS to the Empty suits for 8 private jets footprints…

  • 22 upnorthlurkin // Apr 27, 2007 at 10:46 am

Gafisher, re:17, that would be, “Lawdy, we’uns has losted”. Thank you very much. (did you catch the “Day by Day” comic yesterday? If not, you can see it here.)

  • 23 gafisher // Apr 27, 2007 at 10:55 am

Thanks, Upnorthlurkin; obviously, my patois isn’t as developed as the Junior Senator’s.

(Hey, maybe she’s just trying to be patoitic!)

  • 24 GnuCarSmell // Apr 27, 2007 at 11:24 am

Lawdy, upnorth #22! Dat’s one bad ‘toon. Too funny. Da Hilly-girl don’t feel no ways tired.

  • 25 upnorthlurkin // Apr 27, 2007 at 2:12 pm

And today her “Thighness” is bragging she’s multi-lingual!! I call it purely insulting. I guess Sharpton, Jackson, et al aren’t smart enough to recognize pandering/patronizing…..but is everyone in her audiences that stupid?! She makes me ashamed to be a white woman!

  • 26 antodav // Apr 27, 2007 at 2:24 pm

Why would a Republican president who’s not seeking re-election show up at a debate amongst Democratic presidential candidates?

How does this make sense within the liberal mindset, I wonder?

  • 27 The Great Santini // Apr 27, 2007 at 6:07 pm

Durn…I missed the [yawn] “debate”. Had to floss.

The DNC blew it. If this soiree had been broadcast on The Cartoon Channelâ„¢ or Nickelodeonâ„¢, instead of on MSNBC, “scores” of viewers, rather than “dozens”, would have watched. And “the children” are the Donks’ strongest demographic.

    E-e-e-e-e-e-e-yargh!

  • 28 Darthmeister // Apr 27, 2007 at 10:26 pm

    sHrillary is multi-lingual?

Would that be fake Arkysaw drawl and ebonics?

  • 29 EXT // Apr 28, 2007 at 7:30 pm

Wisely said this morning by a 76 year old in a coffee shop:

They only invited Mike Gravel into that debate at the last minute because it was looking like Hillary and the Six Dwarfs and that woulda been silly. Mike made a good seventh dwarf. Besides, she ain’t no Snow White!

  • 30 EXT // Apr 28, 2007 at 7:35 pm

White haired old guy in the coffee shop got it right. “They invited Mike Gravel in at the last minute ’cause it was gonna be Hillary and the six dwarfs”. Silly. They had to have the seventh dwarf and Mike done good. But, y’know, she ain’t no Snow White!

Not only that, but Bush was behind the collapse of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. I know the news papers are claiming that the bridge collapsed because it melted under the intense heat after a fuel truck over turned and ignited … but thanks to those eminent engineers Charlie Sheen and Rosie O’Donnell, we all know now that those things can’t happen … it was a controlled detonation. I blame Bush.

In the Middle East this would be called “terrorism insurgency”. In San Francisco it’s called Davis-Bacon Job Security.
