Bush to Issue Bonds to Buy Back Iraq Timeline Votes

by Scott Ott · 42 Comments

(2007-03-27) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, struggled today to maintain the Democrat party’s courageous stance on a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq in the face of a new White House initiative designed to buy back Congressional votes that she purchased last week for about $20 billion.

Sources in the U.S. Treasury said today that the Bush administration plans to offer $40 billion in bonds on the global market to buy what the president reportedly calls “surrender offsets” from Congressional Democrats. If the Bush bond plan succeeds, the redeployment and timeline provisions will get stripped from the bill when it goes to conference committee to resolve differences in the House and Senate versions.

The money generated by the sale of the bonds will provide pork barrel projects in the Congressional districts of lawmakers whose votes Rep. Pelosi secured last week through similar, but smaller, financial inducements.

After reading the “The Hill” article referred to in Scott’s post, believe it or not, I am even more disgusted by the Democrat party than ever before.

This is all nothing more than a pathetic, inane game of one-upmanship to them. Nauseating.

I’m still waiting for a spinach farmer to step forward and say:

“Look, I had a lot of losses last year from the E. coli thing, a lot of costs from cooperating with the government because of someone else’s mistake. I’d like the government to help, I want the government to help, but not this way. I’m a farmer, I’m not allergic to government largesse, but I won’t take a cent from the emergency war funding bill.”

I was going to make a comment to ET about this sort of thing on the last post, Scott you are very prolific today!
But you beat me to it!
I must admit, there were enough of each party belling up to the trough, that blame can be shared for all with toothless statements and law!
    What ever happened to statesmen?
    Best to all!

News is breaking that a Palestinian treatment facility has flooded the streets of Gaza with raw sewage. Being somewhat cynical, I am asking “How can they tell?”

What does Barry Bonds think about the possibility of being treated like a mere political tool? And there is only so much convincing one can do with a baseball bat.

  • 10 mig // Mar 27, 2007 at 12:07 pm

Pelosi drowned in a tsunami of raw sewage when an overburdened pork barrel burst. All previous warnings were ignored but still democrats claim it was Bushs’ fault for not giving in by giving up. Congress has made their choice for booze and balloons ; margaritas on the rocks, no salt please.

Roguet55 - re #4 - I have an answer for your question here. This is my senator and I am proud to say so. I watched this on Friday night and said, “You go, man!”

I just read this article from the Washington Post and noted this statement:
Pryor wants a withdrawal deadline of some kind. He just doesn’t want anyone outside the White House, Congress and the Iraqi government to know what it is.

Now I’m asking myself - The White House, Congress and the Iraqi government knows, but the military doesn’t? And if you think about it, if those three government bodies know, then the enemy will also definitely know for sure and so the military would be the only ones in the dark. Makes sense to me. Oh those silly Democrats.

    MOONBATS GONE MAD!

It sure didn’t take long. Here are some anti-Snow comments by people on everthink’s side of the aisle … and this on a comment section AT THE WASHINGTON POST! You ought to see some of the stuff being deleted at DailyKos and demoncrapunderground.com.

These haters are pure evil. They’ve become like the Islamofascists … totally deranged with their venomous hatred.

  • 20 Darthmeister // Mar 27, 2007 at 5:54 pm

camojack, I wonder when Pelosi and crew will quit outsourcing their appeasement offsets to the Iraqi terrorists?

  • 21 Darthmeister // Mar 27, 2007 at 6:02 pm

BTW, a number of left-wing blogs, including the DailyKos, aren’t running with the Tony Snow’s-cancer-has-returned story fearful of the pure hatred that many of their liberal visitors will spew on their comment threads. However, those comments do show up on other threads and are being deleted. It appears even some of the left-wing blogmasters don’t even trust themselves to post the story without some hateful spew of their own.

Why are the streets deserted in Scrappleville?

Say, Dumbyah got a call today from The People, it seems his little “political capitol” account is overdrawn by quite alot.

But, if you think today was bad, just wait till tomorrow, when Sampson tells everything he knows. Whoowee, I can’t wait!

Yeah, it’s beginning to look like the zanies who used to run congress got way behind on their oversight, didn’t they?

That’s ok, we wanted to do a good spring cleaning anyway.

    Later,

    ET

  • 25 Darthmeister // Mar 28, 2007 at 5:38 am

Iraqi is like an abused woman in therapy.

Liberals have made far worst analogies.

Why are the streets deserted in Scrappleville
Maybe because people don’t like the smell of skunks.

BTW, neverthink, I’ve received two replies. Will post when I get a couple more. You ain’t doin’ too good so far, pal.

Prayers going up for Ms. RW this morning!

Redeploy Congress to their home states and block their financial support.

  • 31 Darthmeister // Mar 28, 2007 at 7:35 am

Amen to that, mig. Whenever Congress is in session, no person’s rights are safe.

  • 32 Darthmeister // Mar 28, 2007 at 7:45 am

Good videoclip, mig. Mr. Parks a great American and a true brother in the cause of liberty. Unfortunately left-wing haters will call him a Bush stooge or an Uncle Tom - the liberals’ past track record and the disgusting comments by even more radical left-wingers who can’t stand hearing the truth prove my point.

Between the hate speech of liberals toward Tony Snow and people like Bob it proves everything we’ve said about the radical ratfilth on the far left side of the aisle.

  • 33 Shelly // Mar 28, 2007 at 8:45 am

Good morning, all. Prayers going up for Ms. RW, Mr. Snow and Mrs. Edwards, as well as a general prayer for the rest of our family for well being.

Great links on this thread. Pretty informative for such a deserted street. ;-)

    More liberal hate revealed.

Like cockroaches, where there is one there are ten thousand more.

  • 35 Darthmeister // Mar 28, 2007 at 9:14 am

Excuses given by liberals for hateful comments made by other liberals:

    1) Bush is not a uniter. He has created anger in progressives who hate oppose him for political reasons. (A variation of the “Devil Made Me Do It” theme).

    2) All those hateful anti-Snow posts came from conservatives posing as liberals to make them, left-wing blogs and the Washington Post look bad.

….Buwahahahahahaha. In denial again, but at least they acknowledge the comments are almost pathologically hateful.

Excellent. I sincerely think that this is simply too good to be just a satire. Is there a way to persuade or make the President actually deliver this on TV?
