RNC Chair Quits, Pelosi Tells Bush to Pick Moderate

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 30 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2006-11-10) — With the announced resignation of Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Ken Mehlman, Rep. Nancy Pelosi told President George Bush today that he should pick an ideological moderate to run the party, or Democrats would block the appointment.

“With our electoral victory this week,” said Rep. Pelosi, “Democrats have earned political capital, and we plan to spend it.”

The House Speaker-elect said, “I hear the voices, and I read the front page, and I know the speculation, but I’m the decider and I decide what is best. And what is best is for a moderate or progressive politician to lead the Republican party.”

White House officials said President Bush might seek to find “common ground” with Rep. Pelosi by nominating undecided Rhode Island Sen. Lincoln Chafee to run the RNC.

I’m with you, Scott … Lincoln Chafee would be the perfect choice … to please Nancy …

The sad thing is, considering the self-aggrandizing attitude of Pelosi, she probably thinks she can (and should) be telling the President of the United States what to do.

I so dread the next two years.

  • 5 jimmytheleg // Nov 10, 2006 at 9:33 am

But if Linc takes the job, he won’t be able to run for Governor in 08 as a member of his true party.

The thing that keeps this from being as funny as it should be, is that there are Dems who are probalby thinking the same thing Scott has Nurse Nancy saying.

  • 6 camojack // Nov 10, 2006 at 9:54 am

I don’t think the perpetually-surprised-looking Pelosi can tell Bush to do anything.

Not that she won’t try, of course…

Virginia’s new Senator, Jim Webb, is Democrat’s new Bull Connor.

Anything to win, I guess. I wonder who their next David Duke or George Wallace will be.

    From Powerlineblog:

    Rumsfeld out, McGovern in

How did Scott Ott miss this one? The Associated Press reports: “McGovern to meet with Congress on war.” The AP reports: “George McGovern, the former senator and Democratic presidential candidate, said Thursday that he will meet with more than 60 members of Congress next week to recommend a strategy to remove U.S. troops from Iraq by June.” I can hear it now: “Come home, America.” I’m feeling younger already.

Looks like the Vietnam-Iraq parallel will actually become a reality under the gentle guiding hand of the Democrats. This is pathetic.

    Darthmeister~~

Yes, I saw that about McGovern. I had to pinch myself but, Alas! I won’t be waking from this bone-chilling, blood-curdling nightmare anytime soon.

I watched a documentary on Tet-1968 on the History Channel last night. But this is even worse, way worse.

    McGovern. Unbelievable. Insane, even.

    We’re doomed.

    Doomed.

Worse on so many levels, I’d probably cause the Internet to go down if I tried to list all of them.

I didn’t mean to offend…I’m sorry that my remarks were misinterpreted…I must have botched my joke…

    BUT

Who made Nanny Pelosi Dictratress? I thought the honor belonged to Madame Hillary, who the NYT now describes as “a centrist.”

Oh, why not put Jimmuh Cartuh in at the UN and be done with the whole circus?

Oh, I don’t know what is going on. Is this the end or the beginning. Zeech, to much media in my already buzzing head.

I turned off the radio, TV and my tin foil covered walkie-talkie. Oh give me the Democratic days of Jefferson Clinton and his hippie wife. At least I could read them like a book, even though doing so got me a call from the IRS.

Hmm, do you you think Nancy the Government Nanny carries the same power?

  • 14 onlineanalyst // Nov 10, 2006 at 10:40 am

    “Dictatress,” that is.

Harry Reid can be the “imperialist” jester since he knows how to grab a land deal when the price is right and he knows the right people on zoning boards.

Wm Jefferson can be underSecretary of the Treasury, hiding the cold cash under glaciated icebergs frozen under the chilling glace of Madame Hillary. Even Ozone Al trembles at warming up to his worst adversary in the no-nonsense pantsuit.

  • 15 gafisher // Nov 10, 2006 at 10:42 am

Chafee might be a little too radical for the job, but I’ll bet we could get some “electables” with Michael Moore in the Mehlman chair.

Mornin’ all! Another beautiful day in Brooklyn. Another great day for America. I’l love to have you all over for my famous Zima mimosas.

Happy Birthday Gyrene Corps! You share your special day with “One Day at a Time”s Makenzie Phillips, comedian Sinbad, Roy Scheider and Marty Luther (522).

On this week’s “Nanny 911″: Nanny Pelosi is deployed from Nanny Central to help naughty “special” little Georgie organize his army men, which he keeps losing. Have you looked in the Lincoln bedroom Georgie? I know you’re frustrated. Do we need a time out sweetie?

    Lil’ organized houses y’all

It won’t be long-we’ll be reading headlines like this: USA Spy Agency Tracking Terror Plots.

The stunning public statement by Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller that Britain’s domestic intelligence agency MI5 is tracking some 200 Islamist cells with some 1,600 members who “actively engaged in plotting or facilitating terrorist acts here and overseas.” shows just how deeply the Islamist groups have burrowed into their host society.

    Reposted from the previous thread:

I know we are disappointed by the results of this election. Our GIs serving in Iraq and Afghanistan must also be disheartened. I tried to go online to write a note via “Operation Dear Abby”, but their website is no longer functioning.

However, there is a site that is picking up the slack, and going one step beyond. It provides you with an opportunity to communicate directly to specific service members who are serving in dangerous places overseas. On the site it lists the names of military personnel who are trying to meet the needs of those in their unit. You can select at random from a list of a few thousand homesick GIs, and request his or her mailing address. You can write to them, send care packages, or just remember them in your prayers.

    The website is:

    http://www.anysoldier.com

You can select a member of any branch of the service and make their Thanksgiving and/or Christmas a little brighter. Please take the time to let them know that even though the political leadership in Washington is changing, our devotion to them and their cause remains unchanged. On this the birthday of the Marine Corp may we on the home front always exemplify the spirit of Semper Fidelis.

With a cooler than normal October, even Global Warming is deferring to the Democrats who recently stole … er, won both houses of Congress.

The al Qaeda branch of the Democratic party just announced that “Rumsfeld has fled the battlefield and George W. Bush is the worst American president ever.”*

Nothing like being a fair-weather American, eh JCM. Proud to be an American now? The sun is shining brighter, the birds are chirping louder, there are less traffic jams, the world is less polluted and the Phrench like us more! What more could a progressive want, right?

    Check out. Buwahahahaha!
