Stabbing Spree Renews Call for Knife-Handle Limits

Accused mass stabber in custody as Congress mulls knife-handle limitsWith Dylan Quick, the alleged Texas mass stabber, now in custody, Congress renews debate on “sensible knife-handle limits” that would prevent men like Quick from “getting a grip.”

A one-man stabbing spree that left more than a dozen injured at a Texas community college Tuesday has revived efforts in Congress to limit the length of knife handles.

Dylan Quick, the 20-year-old accused of slashing and stabbing his way from building to building at the Cypress campus of Lone Star College, reportedly told authorities he was acting out a childhood fantasy.

In response, Senate Democrats said they would introduce a bill next week to limit all commercially-available knife handles to less than one-half inch, making it “much more difficult for mass stabbers to get a grip.”

President Obama called on the Senate to “act now before the emotion of the moment fades and you resort to rational deliberation.”

Republicans initially mocked the proposal as “utterly worthless and ineffectual,” but then agreed with Democrats behind closed doors to support “common-sense knife handle legislation.”

  1. This ban would be good because the short handled knives would just be used and then thrown away and eventually there would be no more availabl. But they haven’t gone far enough - handles aren’t enough. They need to add ‘assault knives’ to the ban. You know, those electric jobs with the interchangeable blades that can saw a turkey in two. No effort is required on the part of the stabber. The knife itself does rapid fire stabbing while the stabber just walks around with it in his hand causing REALLY mass stabbings. Get rid of them NOW!!

  2. Oh! And they could just ban the rechargeable electric assault knives because a stabber couldn’t get very far with a corded one. That is…unless they have an extension cord…so extension cords would have to be banned too.

Yeah…from the looks of Mr. Quick [there's a joke in there somewhere], “getting a grip” isn’t going to be that easy. He has that same unkempt, deranged and unhinged appearance of the “mass shooters” we’ve seen of late. Young, white male with a “fantasy” of hurting/killing others. It seems to be the newest “societal trend”. Coincidence? I think not. :-(

I just today did a “one-better” than this applying for a patent on the “knife-less handle” knife. It is 99% safe and guaranteed not to slice or stab victims…unfortunately it can still gouge an eye. But a vast improvement in safety nonetheless. If you take advantage of my TV offer I will sent you a second “knife-less handle” knife absolutely free, just send $19.95 + $39.00 S&H to “knife-less handle” knife PO Box…
